PAST EVENTS

We use the SIMPLE PAST to talk about PAST events.

We ONLY CHANGE the verbs in AFFIRMATIVE answers.

The verbs can be REGULAR (ED) or IRREGULAR (go – went / take – took)

INTERROGATIVE: Did you cook last weekend?

AFFIRMATIVE: Yes, I did. / Yes, I cooked pasta last weekend.

NEGATIVE: No, I didn’t. / No, I didn’t cook last weekend.

But note the difference:

INTERROGATIVE: Were you busy yesterday?

AFFIRMATIVE: I was very busy yesterday.

NEGATIVE: I wasn’t very busy yesterday.
