HELLO from Dr. Chris English

NEW SCC President

Greetings! I want to take a moment to introduce myself and to express my excitement to be a part of the Southeastern Community College family and Columbus County community. My background in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) spans 20 years. During my tenure, I have served as an instructor for automotive systems, Dean of Advanced Technologies, and most recently as Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development at Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC). As a result of my work in program management at BRCC, I also worked at the NCCCS office as the Transportation Director for curriculum improvement.Over the years, I developed

a keen sense of knowledge for the impact that workforce

development and training have on the vitality of a community. As Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development

at BRCC, my main responsibility was to align

education and workforce training to meet the immediate needs of local business and industry so people of all ages would have the opportunity to prosper.

As your SCC President, my goal will be to align our programs in curriculum and continuing education that will help Columbus County citizens meet their career goals through workforce development training and two-year degree obtainment.

SCC has a long, rich history of workforce development in the region. The amazing work that has been accomplished by the visionary leadership of the faculty and staff at SCC is evident in every corner of the community. By succeeding together, we can continue

to build a brighter future for Columbus County and continue forward with the great work in place. I hope that as you watch new programming unfold at the college, that you too will choose to be a part of that rich history and make Southeastern your first choice for educational obtainment.

My wife Teresa and I look forward to engaging in the community that we will soon call “home” and to be recognized as a member of this crown jewel in the region. I sincerely welcome the time we will have for conversation and input to collaborate as Teresa and I engage in the college campus and Columbus County. Until we meet, stay safe, and welcome to Southeastern Community College.

Sincerely,Chr EnglishDr. Chris English SCC President
