Filming Techniques and Inspiration As in this particular video by All Time Low there are various shots we will use to take ideas from and also inspiration when shooting our video. This group long shot of the band has already been used in a part of our filming and no doubt it will be used again at another point, as these types of shots are used regularly. These shots will be surrounded by a number of close ups of both the band members and the instruments they are playing. These shots will be timed in accordance with the timing of the music. There is a scene where the lead member of the band shouts ‘2, 3, 4!’ which starts the song, as each number is said the shot will change to the different members of the band playing their individual instrument, not only close ups but medium shots from different angles will also be used. These two shots during the ‘Damned If I Do Ya’ video are perfect examples of the kind of shots we have used in our already filmed scenes. The close ups show the actual music being played which again links back to the music being put over the video. These various techniques have already been used in our music video and like the group

Filming Techniques and Inspiration

As in this particular video by All Time Low there are various shots we will use to take ideas from and also inspiration when shooting our video.

These various techniques have already been used in our music video and like the group long shot, they will most definitely be used again somewhere else in the video. Conventionally all band members are usually male however we are going against this in our video by having a girl drummer, this challenges the conventions of a typical pop punk music video.

This close up of Alex Gaskarth who is also used on our treatment sheet, as a band member to look at when thinking of what type of costume and style we will use is a type of star image shot. This type of shot is used to make the target audience want to be alike to Gaskarth, the close ups of him alone and various other shots of him may be a feature which has to be in each video they make so that the audience can copy him and use him as their idol in some circumstances. As the target audience of this genre is both male and female the close ups could also be used to attract the female audience as it features only him in the shots, this can be used to draw them in and gain more views and also fans of the particular band. This shot is used continuously throughout this music video and no doubt will be used in ours as well, our first shoot features a few close ups such as this one, music videos similar to this one gave us inspiration when thinking of shooting our scenes for the music video.

These are the main shots we will be using in our music video, close ups accompanied by group shots and also medium and long shots of each band member as they play their instruments. Screenshot could not be taken of this particular videos narrative, which features in between the chorus as the narrative we are doing is going to very different to the one featured in All Time Low’s video. However the obvious techniques such as pans, tracking shots and also differential angles will be used in our video which will most likely be featured in most if not all pop punk band videos. The motions of tracking and pans is normally very fast in this particular genre as they need to keep up with the tempo of the music.
