FileSync Overview

Automatically monitors, replicates and synchronizes files

and application environments. Use for disaster recovery,

migrations, upgrades, and backups. Supports all file types.

Automated multi-system file synchronization & software distribution.

- when selected files change (modified, added or deleted), FileSync

will automatically synchronize the files to a designated destination

Server. FileSync supports Expand and TCP/IP transports.

Multi-site Business Continuity

- FileSync complements data replication software. Real-time

replication of databases to a Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity

site is not sufficient to ensure uninterrupted operations. For seamless,

reliable operations, the entire current application environment must be

replicated across your NonStop systems.

Page 6: FileSync - TANDsoft

6

FileSync Overview

System upgrades and migrations

- using TCP/IP, FileSync can replicate all files to the New Nonstop

Server configured with the same node name. ( No tapes )

FileSync-Dedup

Streams only data that has changed within a file or database. It

significantly improves file synchronization performance and

bandwidth requirements.

FileSync-Incremental

Improves processing time by analyzing and synchronizing only

files that have changed or are new since the last synchronization.

Supports NCI-Sync – Business Continuity software for

CONTROL & CONTROL-CS from Network Concepts Inc.

FileSync protects the version control environment.

7

FileSync Overview

Verify File synchronization.

- for system migrations and upgrades, FileSync can

be used to LIST all files that are in sync, all files that

require synchronization and all files designated for

purging.

- Purge Extra Destination Files and Subvolumes that

do not exist in the Source file-set.

Page 8: FileSync - TANDsoft

8

FileSync Overview

Automatic File Synchronization.

FileSync scheduling allows synchronization to be performed;

> manually, for one time synchronizations.

> scheduled for a specific time of day.

> every interval (minutes, hours or days).

> upon completion of an external event ( trigger ).

FileSync supports Triggers.

functionality that can be invoked Before or After files are

synchronized.

> Before – completion of an event or initiate a function or

program before file synchronization starts.

> After – when a file is synchronized, a function or program is

executed ( executing an edit script, compiling a program or

starting a batch program ).

FileSync Overview

HPE NonStop server fundamentalsFault-tolerance, Parallel processing, Load balancing,

Scalability, File selection by wildcarding & Filtering (supports

qualified expressions).

- FsynCOM - Operator interface to monitor and control activity.

- FileSync complies with system security, ensuring access to

authorized files only.

File Types supported- Enscribe files, SQL/MP, SQL/MX catalogs, schemas, tables

- TMF Audited and Non-Audited files and tables

- All Backup/Restore and BR2 file types

- Edit files, Sub-system configuration files, TACL files

- Application / System Batch, Object & source files

- OSS files and directories

10

FileSync Overview

EMS messages are generated upon normal or

abnormal FileSync job completion.

File Synchronization detailed statistics are

kept in the History file.

Supports file synchronization when

destination file is open.

Data compression allows for maximum use of

available bandwidth between source and

destination systems.

Multiple copies of FileSync can co-exist on

the same Nonstop Server, each serving a

different Business unit.

FileSync Components

FileSync

Client application initiates or schedules a File Synchronization task.

FsyncCOM

Operator interface to Monitor, Display and Control File

Synchronization tasks.

SrvSync

FileSync server application used to synchronize files using Expand or

TCP/IP.

HistSync

History file contains job statistics and completion information.

DeDuplication

Dedup Hash and Updater programs.

NonStop Utilities

Backup, Restore and BR2 are used for file

synchronization. TACL is used for FileSync trigger processing
