Fil-AM picnic

Johnny Sivage and Buddy Martin were both firmly entrenched thereby assuring that the grassy spot, on the shady side of the lake, did in fact belonged to the association that Sunday. There were early concerns that the Astro Jump, a favourite with children, may not make it, but thanks to Gerry Tropel who made sure that it got there on time. As if on cue, a caravan of vehicles began to arrive and in short order, at the direction of association president, Mely Sivage, former president Rica Derosier and vice president Cita Lime, the place soon began to appear like a picnic site.

With the food line set up (the lechon ably handled by Rica), members and guests began to trickle in and by 1:00 PM, all the seats in the two cabanas were taken. Despite the appearance of early doggie bags, there were really no concern of food running out as there are more than enough for all comers, even for the late ones. It is estimated that about 125 came to enjoy the day. If the purpose of the picnic was for the members and guests to have fun, and to renew old friendships and make new ones, it was quite evident that it was achieved. By late afternoon, and as a strong breeze began to whip lines of white caps on the lake, conversations were overheard at how much fun the day have been, and how nice the picnic site was… despite the bugs.Story and photos by F.
