Marriage In The Fiji IslandsMarriage under Fijian law - two simple steps. We help you with both.

The first step is the registration of the intent to marry with the Nadi Registry office. We prefer to organise an appointment for the bride and groom on the first or second day of arrival in Fiji, which will allow for the completion of the Fijian Registry requirements before coming to the island for the wedding ceremony.

The Nadi Registry office is open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, and the appointment will take 15 to 30 minutes - we need to be careful to avoid Fiji Public Holidays. You will be met by a representative from Castaway’s mainland office and escorted to the Registry office to complete paperwork. This has to be done before you go out to the island. It is important to note both bride and groom will need to present an original or certified copy of their respective birth certificates as well as their passports. If either party were previously married, a copy of the divorce papers or death certificate of the former spouse must also be presented. If either party was married within the last five years, a Certificate of Single Status may be required and you are advised to check with the island directly well in advance of your intended arrival date in this regard.

The second step is a ceremony to be held at the Fiji destination of your choice. Witnesses are required. On Castaway, the ceremony usually takes place at sunset on our jetty adjacent to the dining terrace or set upon our beautiful shoreline. The minister or celebrant will be available prior to the wedding to discuss the wording to be used in the ceremony.

Getting to Fiji - Closer than you think.

Fiji is well served by major international airlines, including Fiji’s own airline Air Pacific. Regular scheduled services operate from North America, United Kingdom and Continental Europe, Hong Kong and from Australia and New Zealand in the south. Castaway Island (Qalito Island in Fijian) is the star in the Mamanuca Group of islands approximately thirty kilometers (or 18 miles) from Nadi International airport on Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu. Getting to Castaway Island, Fiji is easy and fun - by boat, seaplane or helicopter.

How Big (Or Small) Can Your Wedding Be? We can cater for small intimate weddings for two or larger gatherings with loved ones (up to 50, depending on accommodation availability on island). Whatever the size of your ceremony, we’ll assist you with every detail. This includes assistance in obtaining the legal paperwork at the Nadi Registry Office prior to arrival on the island, providing ceremony witnesses PLUS planning the wedding ceremony, flowers, the Fijian choir, cocktail parties, banquets and more.

A wedding on Castaway is a casual and stress-free affair. We provide the atmosphere for a serene, casual celebration - not a splashy, grand spectacle. After 40 years, we’ve found that ‘simple’ is simply beautiful. Whether it’s for two or twenty-two, we’ll make sure your special day is exactly that.

Not everyone wants a large gathering for their special day. We’ll help you ensure your ceremony is the perfect intimate island wedding. We can also provide the necessary witnesses.

A larger group wedding party could entitle you to our FREE wedding package!

With only 66 bures on island the number of guests that can attend your ceremony is subject to available accommodation. Book early enough in advance and we’ll do our best to ensure we can cater for your entire wedding party. We have wedding banquets (up to 50 people) available AND an amazing “MARRY ME FOR FREE” offer available for those planning a larger island wedding gathering. Subject to conditions and availability.*
