Charitable Purpose The purpose of the Forum is the prevention or relief of poverty, the advancement of citizenship or community development, the promotion of religious or racial harmony, the promotion of equality and diversity, the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability financial hardship or other disadvantage. Activities and Achievements Fife Migrants Forum has continued offering its services: Daily Advice Clinics, however those were

expanded and a number of new initiatives have been started such as Weekly Job Club, Weekly IT

classes, Weekly Outreach clinics in Cupar, Kingdom Credit Union Collection Point, Weekly Citizen

Advice and Rights Fife clinics and many other to reflect the changing nature of FMFs clientele.

Summary of Fife Migrants Forum activities during the reporting period April 2013 to March 2014

1154 Cases were handled and facilitated by our volunteers, and in 1043 of these the respective

clients were experiencing at least two barriers in accessing services while in 111 of them clients

faced at least three barriers from language, discrimination, isolation, lack of confidence, lack of

experience, immigration status or lack of information.

577 Of the cases featured language as a significant barrier, among other barriers leading to support

needs for most clients, while economic hardships resulting from lack of employment and job losses

were the underlying problem in the majority of the cases referred to partner organisations.

210 New clients were registered and total of 643 were supported through our various range of

services. Some clients made repeat contacts over multiple issues, while other had some of their

issues referred onto partner agencies.

156 referrals were made to third parties, 52% of the target of 300. This is mainly due to

competence of FMF staff to resolve issues and assist in-house, without creating the need to refer

further.

55 Clients participated in our series of client focus group workshops in which feedback on service

delivery was quite positive and encouraging. Among other positives, volunteer support and

mentoring of clients was immensely valued by the participants who felt that the empathy shown by

volunteers when dealing with their issues made them feel valued and gave them a sense of

belonging and purpose.

15 Categories of issues raised in these cases ranged from Housing, Children & Families,

Employment, Community Safety, Welfare Rights, Education & Training, and

Immigration/Visa/Asylum through to Financial Support/Advice. The highest were Employment

(342), Welfare Rights (278), Financial Support/Advice (172) and Housing (89).
