    Abstract

    The training report will present and discuss the work activities and tasksaccomplished during the specified training period at Environment Protection and

    Development Authority (EPDA). The purpose of the training report is to detail the

    tasks accomplishments in each department worked during training period along with

    sampling of all works completed in appendix. usiness functions are support

    services! community relations! environment monitoring and "uality excellence. y

    the end of the report! there will #e reali$ation of learning and work activities and

    tasks learned. %o organi$ation is perfect! there is always need improvement to

    continue succeeding in rendering their services to their clients #ut Environment

    Protection! and Development Authority is operating towards excellence with limited

    num#er employees who are proving to #e competent staff mem#ers.

    Section 1) INTRODUCTION

    1.1) Background

    The training undertaken is in the &nited Ara# Emirates location ('as Alhaimah) and the organi$ation is Environment Protection and Development

    Authority! which is a government office.

    1.2) Purose!Ai"

    The purpose of training report is providing information on tasks handled

    during the training period at Environment Protection and Development Authority

    along with documentation. Therefore! the aim of the report is to provide information

    of work activities accomplished for each department.

    Training at EPDA includes main su#ects such as *upport *ervices (#usiness

    functions of human resources! general administration accounting! finance and

    purchase! and information technology)! Environment +onitoring (#usiness functions

    functions of awareness or lectures! pu#licity! and marketing)! and -uality Excellence.

    Every su#ect covers use of information technology! information system and internet

    technology.

    The report will cover literature review detailing theoretical #ackground a#out

    the government organi$ation and their departments (as per training undertaken).

    Therefore! there will #e detailing of work activities accomplished on daily #asis and

    their documentation in appendix section as per daily activities.

    About +PDA

    2.2. *heikh *a"r #in +ohammed Al -asimi! *upreme ,ouncil +em#er and

    'uler of 'as Al haimah! has issued a local law %3 (4) for setting up the 'as Al

    haimah Environmental Protection and Development Authority (EPDA5'A) in+arch 4667. According to the law! the new #ody shall #e an independent

    organi$ation that enoys the full authority! as well as financial! administrative and

    technical independence in all its affairs. t shall #e the sole authority in charge of

    environmental issues in the Emirate of 'as Al haimah. EPDA5'A shall #e under

    the ,hairmanship of the ,rown Prince and Deputy 'uler of the Emirate! says the

    law! which clearly outlines the o#ectives of the new authority and urged all

    concerned government and private institutions in the Emirate to fully co5operate with

    the new authority.8

    The section is handling issuing of new license and renewing of previously

    issued licenses. *uch activities documentation listed where employees will #e

    following environment license procedure. 'ecords maintained for each and

    updated daily along with monthly sorting as per license or #usiness type.

    The licenses distinguishing is according is commercial! occupational or

    industrial.

    There are possi#ilities for license approval or reection #ut most of them are

    >6? approved and accepta#le.

    The section conducts inspection for all new licenses and there are engineers

    for conducting inspection on daily #asis! which is field work.

    'enewal of license inspection is conditional where head of department

    will #e deciding whether there is need for inspection or not.

    2owever! there is mostly inspection for factories and industries small or

    large scales.

    ,ompanies excluded sometimes are garages and workshops #ut if the

    renewal is delayed then there is potentiality for inspection.

    The section conducts inspection for all new licenses and there are engineers

    for conducting inspection on daily #asis.

    'A nvestment Authority1s ('AA) companies o#tain %3, from EPDA and

    licensing is done #y 'AA.

    ,lients will #e paying fees of renewal or new license depending on type of

    #usiness also inspection.

    This section offers consultation with a fee depending on their activity across

    the Emirate or in 'A and there is list of approved consultants.

    ,onducting satisfaction survey as per assigned #y -uality Department for

    The tasks in this department are daily #asis when licenses renewed or issued new one.

    Therefore! it is usually 8=5;= transactions per day and num#er of staff handling are two in internal

    office and one in external office. The other tasks as per assigned and instructed as mentioned.

    During the first week in this department! was working with +s. +aryam Al *hehhi and the

    following week was during her leave so was serving as #ackup staff under the supervision of +s.

    Section =) CONC*USION

    n conclusion! training period is "uite an experience that refreshes some partof the work experience had. t was good opportunity to know new people! work

    activities and departmental functions.

    ,ommunity 'elations served EPDA with various awareness activities and

    working inline with -uality Excellence. *uch activities include lectures! printouts and

    events organi$ing and managing in coordination with other educational institution

    and few organi$ations dealing with EDPA as clients! suppliers and strategic partners.

    Environment +onitoring is not ust monitoring the environment #ut they also

    serve EPDA with customer services and cashier collection activities working inline

    with *upport *ervices and -uality Excellence. They offer checking and monitoring

    #usiness activities that have impact on 'as Al haimah1s environment.

    *upport *ervices have several #usiness functions under one roof #ut most of

    the information was confidential. Due to this reason! training period was short. The

    services that they are offering are for internal staff mem#ers and internal functions of

    EPDA.

    -uality Excellence spread out in all departments for implementation of *3

    and for achieving **PE award. They have team mem#ers from each department

    and they are working towards "uality assurance. *uch mem#ers are working with

    -uality Excellence to accomplish and to finish tasks assigned re"uired for "uality

    deployment and participating in **PE awards.

    Everyday there was new tasks assigned to accomplish at EPDA! staff

    mem#ers were cooperative! and professional speciali$ed in their field of work. t is

    having great deal to offer to our community and assuring for #etter living

    environment while others are doing #usiness.
