All About Reports
One of the fun things that you can always do with your great data is create meaningful studies and reports! ONCO’s Gather module makes reports easy to produce while allowing you to create professional looking studies at the same time. Here are some suggestions,
hints and tips while working with your data.
In Gather “Reports-Plus” be sure to check the “Data Errors/Omissions” tab and “Miscellaneous Cases” tab and clean up data.
These tabs can be found in all Quality Assurance reports in Reports-Plus.
Other tips about Reports-Plus reports:
Be sure to check “unknown” stages to see if a better stage can be
determined. Pick a “body system” and perform a “mini-study” based on the in-
formation found in the report. Expound on stage of disease, treatment, any screenings that could be offered to the public, and other data based on the infor-
mation in the report.
Anatomic/Educational Reports It is very easy to provide information on the last complete year on any of
the offered sites for that site specific Cancer Conference, etc. Just select the site you wish to review and enter the date you wish to use in the fil-
ter. Print copies of the report for members of Cancer Conference or add to a presentation to show your facilities experience with this primary site
for that particular time frame.
Epidemiology Reports Easily create a report of the top 5 or 10 (or all) sites at your facility for a
specific time frame using the “Top N Sites—AJCC (or SEER) Stage” report. Enter the specific information you wish to use in your filter then
enter the number of “top sites” you wish to see in the “Reports Parame-
ters” fields. Generate your list and voila!

Annual Report Ideas
Having trouble deciding on exciting reports to use in your Annual Report? Take a look at the following reports in Reports-Plus:
FIPS Level II (CPS 1.12)
When cases are gathered (filtered) to a calendar year this
report attempts to duplicate the FIPS Level II report for your facility as posted on the ACoS web site. Small differ-
ences may occur due to interval data changes or case filter-ing performed by the CoC. Anatomic site
grouping is assigned based on business rules published by
the CoC. Stage at diagnosis is determined by examining the stage group for each of the following in the listed order
of precedence:
1) Collaborative Stage, 7th Edition
2) Collaborative Stage, 6th Edition
3) AJCC Pathologic Stage
4) AJCC Clinical Stage
OR
FIPS with Vital Statistics
When cases are gathered (filtered) to a calendar year this
report attempts to duplicate the FIPS Level II report for your facility as posted on the ACoS web site but with the addition
of statistics for Vital Status, Class of Case, and Gender.
Occurrence of Cancer by Site and Sex
This report is one of three that we offer to reflect cancer oc-
currence by site and sex. Sites have been grouped
according to standards defined in the National Cancer Insti-
tute document Formatting for Standard Cancer
Center Summaries, Interim Revision, June 2006 as amended
in their subsequent document International
Classification of Diseases for Oncology, Revised
9/8/2011. The NCI classification has 45 groupings, some of
which have been combined (e.g. lymphomas) for this report. Percentages may be expressed in ‘gender specific’ form (i.e.
sum of percentages of male diagnoses is 100%) or ‘absolute’ form (sum of all percentages is 100%).

Annual Report Ideas (cont’d)
Graphs of your “Top 5 (or 7, 10, etc.) Sites” can easily be created with the “Top N Sites—AJCC Stage” (or SEER Stage) in Reports-
Plus. Once you have determined how many sites you wish to view, click on “Quality Assurance Reports” and the “Top N Sites” tab.
Ex- port the graph and create a bar or pie
graph to reflect the data in your grid.
Be sure to look at the “Data Errors/
Omissions” tab in the Quality Assurance
Report and clean up data then “Reload Re-
port” to see changes.
Reminder
When contacting your ONCO Support Staff via email, please always cc: [email protected] as many times both Registry and
Technical Staff may be away from their desk or on another call or even on vacation! If you include Support in your e-mail, others will
be able to see and respond to you in a more timely manner.

REMINDER!!!! NEVER SEND PHI IN AN EMAIL!!!!
It is very important to remember that any type of HIPAA PHI should never be sent to Onco Support
via screen shots or in the body of an e-mail. This is sensitive information and should not be sent via e-
mail at any time.
If you need to get information to Onco Support for assistance, please do one of the following:
Call 1-800-345-6626, option # 1 for Registry Support and let us know you have an issue
Send an e-mail to Onco Support to indicate you are having an issue
In either case, we will start a GTM with you and make the appropriate screen shots (as necessary) to
get the issue resolved for you. If you are an ASP user, we will contact you to get any specific infor-mation from you and either do a GTM or if you want us to review via the ASP we will need your per-
mission to review the account.
Either way, please do not send any PHI in e-mail NOR in attachments in an e-mail. Your assistance
in this matter is greatly appreciated.
TIPS and “TRICKS” If you are in Reports-Plus or Ad Hoc Reports and want to use a full year in a date range, just type the
“year” interested in in the “From”
field then tab to the “To” field and
the date in the “From” field
changes to “1/1/xxxx” and the
date in the “To” field changes to
“12/31/xxxx” with the year you
entered.
If you want to ‘span’ several
years, just enter the ending date in
the “To” field.
