Test And Inspect Overview:• Test operation of all devices that report to the Fire Alarm

Control Panel (FACP).• Check for their good operation, maintenance, and cleanings .• List and report all devices on maintenance ticket for office

and tenants records.• File smoke detectors maintenance Log Book that stays on

the premises.

Types of Services Provided:• Test and Inspect• Installation / Service Calls• Programming

Test and Inspect

Procedure Request for system to be put OFFLINE (FSD, BE,

Security, Technician) Call to Central Station (Statewide, AFA,

Central monitoring, etc.) Ask to be OFFLINE for four hours, or height

hours

Check for panel condition upon arrival at FACP Report on maintenance ticket Active points

and Disable points (Ap 0000, Dp 0000).

Test and Inspect

Silent Test

Put panel on TEST mode (IO-64, IO-500, EST-2, EST-3), or ensure all Audible and Visual devices are DISCONNECTED (Quick Start, NAC disconnect panels).

Disable Devices or Actions (Fan Shut Down, Elev. Recall, Door Release).

Check all devices when panel is on TEST and all Actions are DISABLED.

Write displayed message with last four numbers of device on maintenance ticket.

Reset panel and make sure all device are cleared, so won’t activate accidentally.

Take the panel OFF TEST, and ENABLE all Actions previously disabled.

Close ticket after made sure panel is in same or better condition at departure.

Live TestWhen Silent Test completed and panel put Off Test: Make announcement through Speakerphone. Activate any device that will put the building on Alarm. Check on every floor that all output devices of fire alarm system

are operational (Speaker/Strobes, Horn/strobes, Bells, Door release, Fan Shut Down, Elev. Recall) Acknowledge the Alarm message on FACP, then reset the FACP

to clear Alarm.

Test and InspectSilent Test / Live Test / Visual Test / Supervisory Test / Sensitivity Test.

Visual Test

No need to request account to be put Offline. Walk through all floors of the building and check if devices are in

good condition. Report with a check on maintenance ticket all devices that pass

visual inspection.

Recommendation to make the program better

Excellent program where intern can learn from the field to become good technicians.

A rotation between all departments of the Field Operation to have a better understanding of all parts of technical service.
