FIELD MOCK UP REPORT-ROOF WATER PROOFING

Date of Mock up: 21/Feb/2017

Project: L&T C17 HINDAN.

Location Parachute packing building

Area Horizontal surface: 384.3sq.mt

Vertical surface: 30.82sq.mt

Coordinator from Applicator: Mr.Arvindhan (MPIL)

Product recommended: Hyperdesmo PB-2K

Area of application: Terrace (Non Exposed)

Mock up completed on: 02/Mar/2017

Work procedure:

1. Initial pond test :

Prior to the installation of water proofing activity, water pond test has been

initiated by client on 20/02/2017 for 75mm height for 48hrs

2. Grouting:

All the leakage points were been traced out and the same was treated by using

pressure grouting from the soffit.

I. Drilling and fixing the nozzles adjacent to the leakage point with quick

setting cement and allowed the setup for 24hrs to get dry. This was done on

21/02/2017: Totally 28 point was fixed.

II. All the 28 points were supplied with the prepared cement slurry with an

additive of (Bostik) grout admix 225 gram/ bag of cement, through the

nozzles fixed at the soffit. This was done on 23/02/2017.

3. Surface preparation:

Substrate was cleaned by using a mechanical grinder for horizontal substrate

and for vertical substrate, Hand grinders were used and all the construction

debris, contaminants, Cement laitance, and loose particles are been cleared

off from the work spot.

4. Surface regulatory test for the substrate:

The entire cleaned substrate was checked for the surface regulatory test in

multiple area of the terrace (3.048m X 3.048m) with a help of 3.048m straight

edge placing randomly in the specified area.

Checking has been done as per the recommendations and the substrate

regularities are found to be in the limitation of water proofing standards (I.e)

there was no error greater than ±6.35mm

5. Moisture test:

Moisture test has been done on the prepared surface as per ASTM D 4263

substrate moisture test, prior to the application of Pu-Membrane

6. Construction joint treatment:

Cleaned and Grooved of ‘V’shape, 5X25mm and same was packed with

HYPERSEAL EXPERT 150 PU-SEALANT filled with special sealant gun

followed by tooling with spatula with a base primer of MICROSEALER-50

applied and air cured for 24 hrs as per the standard waterproofing

recommendation.

Prior to the application of main course, The entire construction joint was

been treated with band width of 150mm of Hyperdesmo PB 2K A special

coat was applied with a base primer Microsealer-50 (As it was not

recommended in the method statement )

Cleaned and Grooved of ‘V’shape, 5X5mm and same was filled with

HYPERDESMO PB-2K of band widths of 200 mm along the cracks. The

same was done as per the standard waterproofing recommendation.

8. Treatment of drain spout:

Cleaned the surface and scrapped the pipe (to ensure better adhesion) and

the same were packed with PU-Sealant, as per the standard specified.

9. Angle Fillet:

The existing angle fillet was found to be satisfactory.

10. Primer Application:

After removing the dust and debris with the help of vacuum cleaner. The

MICROSEALER -50 (Pu based primer) was applied over the prepared

surface with the help of roller brush @ 100 ml per square meter. Allowed it to

get dry (air curing) for 24 hrs.

11. Top coat: HYPERDESMO PB-2K

Vertical surface:-

The substrate was again cleaned with Air blower followed by vacuum

cleaner and the applied HYPERDESMO PB 2K in two coats in a interval of

24 hrs at a coverage of 0.6 lit/sqmt per coat.

After the application of second coat course sand was broadcasted on the wet

layer to ensure a good bonding of the protective plastering on top.

Horizontal surface:-

The application of HYPERDESMO PB 2K applied in a single coat with the

help of Notch trowel and roller at the coverage rate of 1-1.2lit/sqmt. The

mixing of material was been done with 300rpm mechanical stirrer, the

application was done as per the standard recommendation of manufacturer.

For every 40sqmt the WFT has been measured and same was recorded in the

check list.

12. Curing time:

After the final application of Pu-liquid membrane HYPERDESMO PB 2K

should left for air curing of 24 hrs.

13. Safety:

Followed as per the safety recommendation of actual site conditions.

14. Final Ponding test:

Testing has been performed only after waterproofing membrane was

cured completely and it was inspected physically. Testing prior to

installation of drainage layer, protection layer, pavers or overburden

WFT/DFT PROCEDURES:

To ensure the main water proof coating layer thickness of 1mm. We used

WFT gauge for checking the wet film thickness of liquid membrane on the

substrate, after the application of HYPERDESMO PB-2K for every 40sqmt

and same was recorded in the field inspection report

Formula to calculate DFT:

DFT= WFT X Solid content of product

Consumption of material = Thickness required X Specific weight

Solid content of the product

= 1mm X 0.97 = 1.077 lit/sqmt 0.90 Whereas, 0.97= Specific weight of hyperdesmo PB2K

0.90 = Solid content of Hyperdesmo PB2K

Hence, for required 1mm dry film thickness, consumption should be 1.08

Ltr/Sqm.

For 1mm required DFT, measured WFT should be= 1/0.9 = 1.1mm.

Result :

The average WFT found to be 1.3546 mm and DFT of applied layer in parachute packing

building is 1.219mm.
