Average daily temperature of 25-30°C is good for fruits setting. Plants are most susceptible to bacterial wilt and soil rot during rainy season and will be seriously injured by typhoon. Eggplant grows best on deep loam soil that is fertile and irrigated, has good drainage and plenty of sunshine. The best soil for eggplant is around 6.5 pH. II. Varieties Developed By Known You-Seed Com. Of Taiwan Fond May – Early maturity, and can be harvested beginning from about 50- 55 days after transplanting, fruit is 30-35 cm long 4 cm wide and weighing 200g, tolerant to bacterial wilt. Fond long – Vigorous and strong, fruits is 35 cm long, 4 cm in diameter and weighs 180 g. Charming early and quite prolific with 2-3 purple flowers bearing fruits on one node. Can start harvest at 50-55 days after transplanting. Fruit is about 16-22 cm long, 5.8 cm diameter and weighs 230 g. Fullness – Vigorous, average early, can be harvested beginning 50-55 days after transplanting, highly productive, with globe shaped fruit is about 10 cm long , with 9.5 cm in diameter and weighs 320 g. Farmers Long – plants are vigorous, early and prolific, tolerant to heat and Moisture, has good tender quality, higher yield. III. Seedling Care and Transplanting In order to improve the germination and to minimize seed cost, seedling nursery should be done. Prepare Agri+Plas seedling tray # 104 with Growell Medium and spray with water to keep the medium moist. Sow one seed per hole, cover and water it immediately. Make sure that seeds are not buried too deep. The seedling tray should be placed on top of bamboo slats about to 1 to 2 feet above the ground. Spray moderately the seedling twice a day with water to keep the medium moist. Monitor the moisture of the medium used. After 25-28 days, transplant the seedlings to the field at a planting distance of 50cm x 70 cm. lV. Land Preparation Plow and clean the planting area. Make a flat bed on sandy soils and a raised bed in sandy-loam or clay soils. Use 1 m x 20 m bed, with 0.5 m canals between plots. The bed

lV. Land Preparation

Plow and clean the planting area. Make a flat bed on sandy soils

and a raised bed in sandy-loam or clay soils. Use 1 m x 20 m bed, with 0.5

m canals between plots. The bed should be 15-20 cm high above the

fertilized level. Use Agri + Plas silver-black plastic mulch to cover the

prepared plots.

V. Fertilization

A. Basal fertilizer in every 1X20 meter plot

2 sack organic 100 grams furadan

4 kilos Complete 1 kg calcium nitrate

100 grams magnesium 100g Boron

B. Drenching Schedule

This will be done 7-1-0 days after transplanting. The mixture of fertilizers is diluted to 16 liters of water. 150 ml of the solution is applied to the soil, on the base of the plant.

frequently to prevent the plant from injuries in dry soil. It is important to

maintain the dryness in the area between plants, also pay attention for

proper drainage during wet season.

VII. Pruning

Remove all the branches near the base of the plant. If the height

of the plant reaches 10 inches remove some leaves.
