Fiberglass Surface Prep Fiberglass Surface Prep YMA601 is a low VOC cleaner that emulsifies and lifts mold release agents and other contamination from the surface of fiberglass gelcoats so that it can be removed with clean, fresh water. Fiberglass Surface Prep cleans the surface and provides a key for Fiberglass No Sand Primer YPA200 or InterProtect ® 2000E. The removal of surface contamination is extremely important to prevent delamination of subsequent coats of primers and paint. Fiberglass Surface Prep can also be used on previously painted or varnished surfaces when preparing to repaint. COMPATIBILITY Fiberglass Surface Prep can be used on Fiberglass Gelcoat (Polyester or Vinylester) and Epoxy primed surfaces prior to the application of Fiberglass No-Sand Primer YPA200 or InterProtect 2000E. PREPARATIONStir or shake contents thoroughly before use.

Bare Fiberglass

Apply Fiberglass Surface Prep YMA601 to a maroon 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ pad, then scrub the surfaceto be cleaned using moderate pressure. Flush the surface with fresh water or wipe off with a clean,wet cloth ensuring that no traces of Fiberglass Surface Prep YMA601 remain. Changing clothsfrequently, repeat until all contamination is removed.

Before application of primer it is very important that all contamination has been removed. To becertain the contamination has been removed, run water over the surface. If the water beads up orseparates, wipe again with Fiberglass Surface Prep YMA601, rinse and allow to dry.

As soon as the surface is dry it is ready to apply Fiberglass No Sand Primer YPA200 or InterProtect®

2000E. If more than 4 hours pass without overcoating wipe with a clean wet cloth and allow to dry.

HINTFor large areas, pour YMA601 into a paint tray and roller apply. Apply one section at a time, then scrubusing a maroon 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ pad and water to remove.
