Since 1958, FIBA has manufactured, sold, and leased new and reconditioned, stationary and mobile gas containment equipment to

the industrial and specialty gas, electronics, and chemical industries through our multiple plants across the U.S.A. In addition to the

parts featured in this catalog, our products and services include tube trailers, ASME & DOT receivers, ISO skid containers & portable

tanks, gas compressor systems, new & reconditioned carbon dioxide, chemical & cryogenic storage and transport equipment,

and tanks. FIBA is also a premier manufacturer of seamless, integrally forged pressure vessels, including DOT, UN, ISO, and ASME

FIBAs machining center in Millbury, MA manufactures all of the parts featured in this catalog as well as many more items, which are

Our machining center has many capabilities and the very latest, precision equipment. It is equipped with two (2) CNC lathes, one (1)

CNC Vertical Machining Center, one (1) CNC Machining Center, a Bridgeport, three (3) tool room lathes, radial drills, surface grinders,

saws and other miscellaneous equipment. We have a Starrett comparator (Model HE350), Starrett digital vernier height gages, a

profilometer, electronic vernier, and many more inspection and measuring tools. All machined products are in compliance with DOT,

ASME and CGA specifications. In particular, our safety devices are designed, manufactured, tested and certified by a Manufacturing

Engineer to the requirements of CGA Pamphlet S-1.1. Combined, the Class A Machinists working at FIBA have over 100 years of

experience. All FIBA parts are inspected prior to shipment. Additionally, spare parts assemblies for specialty gas applications are

subjected to a pneumatic leaktest. Pneumatic leaktesting of assemblies for industrial gas applications as well as other testing or

cleaning procedures for parts and assemblies intended for all gas services are options available at additional cost. Your salesperson

can explain the many services that FIBA can offer to insure gas compatibility and leak-tight integrity of your purchased parts.

To insure full compliance with regulations and the highest levels of safety, FIBA Technologies, Inc. employs skilled Engineers and

experienced designers to insure that the products we sell are the safest and finest in the compressed gas and cryogenic industry.

Bill of Materials

1. Inspect bullplug, PRD plug and silver washer for damage(e.g. nicks, scratches, etc.).

2. Place silver washer into the bullplug pressure relief device

(PRD) port.

3. Place shear disk into the bullplug PRD port with the shear

disk markings facing upwards.

4. Apply a light coating of approved lubricant onto the PRDplug threads and face.

5. Assemble PRD plug into the bullplug and torque to 95 ft/lbs.

2. Install seal washer into the bullplug PRD port.

3. Install shear disk (with markings facing upwards) into the

bullplug PRD port.

3a. For F0 version of PRD plug, install shear ring into the bull-plug PRD port.

4. Apply a thin coat of approved lubricant to threads and face

of PRD plug.

FIBAs thermowell bullplug with welded disk for silane is offered with different outlet

ports to accommodate tube or pipe weld configurations. The side port is available in

0.750" threadless valve socket weld or 0.750" tube weld and the end port is a 0.750"

socket weld. To minimize the potential for leaks, rather than using threads or gasketson this part, FIBA instead welds all joints in contact with the process gas. This part

contains a 3.250"-8 UN-2A inlet. It is designed for

8. After configuring the angle block for the vent tube, torque

the jam nut into the bullplug at a torque of 100 ft/lbs. NOTE:

A back-up wrench should be used to secure the angle block

while the jam nut is tightened to final torque.

NOTE 3: A weather membrane shall be installed with RTV sili-

cone to ensure a weatherproof seal.

Integrated Bullplug / Valve Assembly


FIBAs integrated bullplug/valve assembly is designed especially for jumbo and

superjumbo tube trailers to enhance safety, reduce leaks, and insure compliance with

CGA TB-25. (It can also be used on multiple-element gas containers.) The innovative

design protects the valve internal components from damage or leakage in the event ofa rear end collision or rollover. The valves sacrificial hand wheel has a machined shear

point to allow shearing with no damage to the valve internal, pressure-containment

parts. A simple replacement of the hand wheel gets the valve operational within

minutes to allow unloading of the gas and safe evaluation of the accident damage.

The CGA 580 outlet connection is machined directly into the face of the bullplug

to eliminate costly thread leaks, which are common in tube isolation valves. The

bullplug body is manufactured from 304L stainless steel and, thus, should never need

Integrated Bullplug / Valve Assembly

Bill of Materials



1. Apply 3 dabs of lubricant around the perimeter of the lower

plug threads, approximating the size of a pencil eraser for

each. Locate lubricant toward the lower most threads clos-est to the crimped seat but using care not to get lubricant on

the nylon seat. Use Braycote 803 lubricant.

2. Being careful not to damage the bonnet sealing surface in

the valve body, install the new lower plug into the cham-

ber, seat first and tighten using a square drive until it is fully

seated.

3. Engage the new bonnet and stem subassembly into the

valve body and hand tighten by turning clockwise. Rotate

stem square until it becomes engaged in the lower plug.

4. Using an 11/16" hex socket and torque wrench, tighten the

bonnet to 50-60 ft. lbs. NOTE: A properly calibrated torquewrench must be used. Over torquing will damage the bon-

net.

5. Place the handwheel over the stem square. Thread the

handwheel nut onto the stem thread and tighten to 15-35

in. lbs.

6. To ensure free and smooth operation, open and close the

valve several times by turning the handwheel.
