d) FITNESS COURT

STAFF REPORT:

The City of San Francisco has a unique outdoor fitness court that allows residents tolead a healthy lifestyle without the cost of a gym membership. These fitness courtsare now trending in parks all across the US and they are offering up a small grant

10, 000) to communities that are interested in installing this type of feature to theirexisting parks in 2018. The cost of a fitness court is $ 90,000, plus the installation, on a 38x38 ft. concretepad. The fitness court is bolted to the ground, with a few cables for one feature,

leading to easy maintenance. The pieces are powder -coated for rust resistance with a5 -year warranty on the court and a 1 - year warranty on parts.

Hold and reserve for donors or healthcare agencies to fund;

Need to maintain what we have;

It is good for the community, but at a cost; Not worthy of a capital budget; Add to wish list and add more individual version as a part of the park or

trails.

a. Received quotes for electric to be added to the concession stand that HSYSA has

funded, and presented this to them at the October 11 meeting. It was approvedand the work has been completed.

b. Fall baseball and flag football have both wrapped up their seasons. c. In light of the many issues with receiving background checks, removing volunteer

coaches, and challenges that come with the whole process, HSYSA has been

instructed by me that the Village will no longer be conducting background checksfor their programs. HSYSA has agreed to the new process that will becomeeffective in 2018. All present background checks conducted in 2017 will remain

processed.

4) Parks Updates

a. RFQ has been sent out and ads ran in the Press Gazette & the Press on October 20

27 for Calavera Diamond 1 fence replacement. Quotes were due by November3.

e. Working on replacing the zip -line feature at Calavera Springs Park. At this point, I will be replacing the cross bars, and components of the hand piece. The costwill be around $ 1500 versus the total replacement cost of $4300. It will be trickyto rebuild the existing unit, but can be accomplished with a significant costsavings.

f. We replaced a broken swing at Whisper Ridge Park. g. The landscaping of the entryway from Harbor Lights Road to Festival Foods Way

is complete.

h. The Idlewild open air shelter has been cleaned and stained. Not 100% positive,

but I think the crew is real excited to do this again in 2020. Pretty sure everyonehad stained arms and armpits from this project, but they did an amazing job, nevercomplained, and trust me, it was not easy.

i. Lighting has been added to the Idlewild Park Shelter, the scoring booth andconcession stand at diamond 3.

j. Both shelters floors have been stripped, buffed, and waxed.

k. Microwaves have been replaced at both shelters.

1. Storage racks have been put up at the Calavera shop to get equipment andsupplies off the floor.

in. Storage cabinet was placed at Calavera, one is for basic supplies (paper toweling, toilet paper, etc.) for our renters, and the other is for our crew stocked with

Agreement between the VOS & HSHS will be modified and brought back to the Village Board for

Approval

Intention of the VOS & HSHS that the uses are largely passive in nature and complimentary and

compatible in nature with the surrounding residential neighborhood.

Administration has been in contact with Law Enforcement staff and has reviewed the FFA event. We

have found that the FFA event was very cooperative and responded positively to all requests from theVOS on the night of their event. It should be noted that the HSHS did not charge the FFA for this event.

There was a DJ at the event and the doors were closed at the VOS request and the music ended by 10

PM as requested by the VOS, as well.

Both the VOS and HSHS will meet to continue discussions to address both short term and long term

planning on the site and will modify the existing VOS/ HSHS Agreement to address expectations of bothparties with VOS Village Board Approval. An Informational Meeting with Residential Neighbors will be

held prior to bringing this back to the Village Board.
