Dear Dr. Bowen:
This letter will confirm the parties' amended agreement regarding the CUNY Language Immersion
Program (CLIP) Teacher hourly rate schedule effective March 19,2011.
Continuing Education Teachers who are newly appointed to a position in the CUNY Language Immersion
Program (CLIP) that will continue for a period of more than six (6) months and requires them to teach a
minimum of twenty (20) hours per week shall be placed on the starting hourly rate of the CLIPStep
Hourly Rate Schedule effective March 19, 2011 as set forth below.
The calculation of the number of hours comprising a full year of service for the CLIP hourly rate schedule
set forth below shall be based upon service in the fall semester immediately preceding March 19 and
service in the prior spring semester. During the course of the two semesters, the CLIP teacher must be
appointed for 30 weeks of service with 30 hours worked per week, an annual total of900 hours.'
For CLIP teachers appointed to Kingsborough Community College, the calculation of the number of
hours comprising a full year of service for the CLIP hourly rate schedule set forth below shall be based
upon service in the fall sessions (Sessions A and B) immediately preceding March 19 and service in the
prior spring session (Session A).
For CLIPteachers appointed to LaGuardia Community College, the calculation of the number of hours
comprising a full year of service for the CLIP hourly rate schedule set forth below shall be based upon
service in the fall sessions (Sessions I and II) immediately preceding March 19 and service in the prior
spring session (Session I).

In order for a movement within schedule for a Continuing Education Teacher appointed to the CLIP
Program to occur, the Continuing Education Teacher must be continuously employed in the position',
meet the general requirements stated above throughout the period, and provide full years of service as
defined above. Movement within schedule shall be from one schedule step to the next higher step of
the schedule set forth herein and shall occur following completion of one full year of service during each
of the first six years of service. Upon completion of six years of service, movement within the schedule
set forth herein shall be from one schedule step to the next higher step of the schedule set forth herein
and shall occur following completion oftwo full years of service. A Continuing Education Teacher who
was placed on the March 19, 2010 CLIPStep Hourly Rate Schedule shall be placed on the March 19,
2011 schedule set forth herein based upon full years of service (as referenced in the paragraph above) in
the CLIP Program as of March 18, 2011.
A Continuing Education Teacher appointed to a position in the CLIPProgram who is placed on the
schedule effective March 19, 2011 will not be eligible to receive any additions to base pay as provided
for in section 2 (f) ofthe Continuing Education Teacher Supplemental Agreement.

This is the entire agreement of the parties; it cannot be amended, supplemented or modified, except by
written agreement of the parties.
2 Solely for purposes of interpreting "continuously employed" for movement within schedule, time employed inCLIPPrograms University-wide (rather than at a single college) will be determinative.
