General Description

Ffynnon Mamgu (grandmother's well) comprises just under 12 acres of land managed as a bio-diverse, registeredsmallholding. Developed by the current owners over a number of years, the land is used with sustainability very much inmind. The idea is to offer much greater scope for a move towards self-sufficiency with a low impact on the environment, all in the lovely setting of the Teifi Valley.

The holding is a mixture of flat and sloping land offering meadow, young and mature woodland, a number of ponds, awetland area, vegetable and fruit plot and a willow plantation. The idea was to provide for nature and for the currentowners. Over the last 10 years a wide range of soft fruit, nut and fruit trees have been planted. In addition there are bedsfor growing vegetables and the top paddock would make an ideal location for a poly-tunnel and further beds.

Equally, the current owners envisage that the newly planted woodland will, in time, provide wood for fenceposts, greenwoodworking projects, hurdle making, etc, whilst the willow will provide whips for living green sculpture and basketmaking. The idea was also to use thinnings from any cut wood to be used for charcoal making, and artist’s charcoal.Facilities for this are on site, but not yet operational.

Accommodation

Please Note:

There is no planning permission for residential development and, it is unlikely that planning for a 'standard' house wouldbe granted. However, low impact development is recognised by the Welsh Planning System as playing a key role in thetransition to a low carbon society. Most applications revolve around the ‘One Planet Development’ policy’ (TAN 6July2010). This policy covers the whole of Wales and there is a wealth of information regarding this on the Internet.
