A crowd of more than 550 students and visitors filled the room to the fire-code limit. The debate also streamed live over the Internet, with almost 20,000 viewers. Debate: “Can We Be Good Without God?” On Jan. 29 (Thomas Paine’s birthday), Foundation co-president Dan Barker debated Christian author Dinesh D’Souza (What’s So Great About Christianity) at the University of Minnesota. More than 1,000 people filled every chair, with 300+ seated on the floor. The debate, moderated by philosophy professor Valerie Tiberius, was sponsored by Campus Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists (CASH), the Secular Student Alliance, Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
