Fall sports are coming to a close and we are proud of each and every one of ourstudent athletes. There are only a few home games left in the season so come out andsupport the teams. FFMS Soccer Team, led by Coach Tom Haske and AssistantCoach Jessica Delos Reyes, is undefeated to date. FFMS Golf Team, led by CoachRyan Henderson, has also enjoyed an undefeated fall season. Coach Marianne Lowe
has led our Volleyball Team with a great record of 9 wins and 3 losses to date. OurFFMS Football Team has trained hard and played with heart. It has been a toughseason with few wins but all games have been close. FFMS Cheerleaders are coachedby Coach Cindy McNeill and assisted by Assistant Coach Mallory Daniels. Winter sporttryout dates will be announced soon.

Spirit week, October 10 through 14 at FFMS was a blast fromthe past with students and teachers dressing up with adifferent theme every day. Monday was 80s day, Tuesdaybrought out the tackiest in everyone, Wednesday was Blue &
White Day, Thursday was Pirate Day, and on Friday ourstudents dressed as teachers and teachers dressed asstudents.
Halloween for HatterasOur Student Government Association will sponsor Halloweenfor Hatteras this year. Dress up at school for a great cause.Students paying $1 or more may wear costumes to school on
Monday, October 31. All proceeds will be used to purchase coats for children affectedby Irene on Hatteras Island. Extra donations are welcomed. No masks or weaponsallowed.
Teacher of the YearTeachers of the Year were honored at anannual dinner sponsored by the Board ofEducation and the Dare EducationFoundation on September 22 at PamlicoJacks. Each year, school faculties selectan outstanding colleague to represent theirschool in North Carolinas Teacher of theYear recognition program. Connie Outtenwas named FFMS teacher of the year.Congratulations Mrs. Outten.
FFMS Band Performs at Football GameOn Friday, September 23, the 8th Grade FFMSSeahawk Band performed along with the FirstFlight High School Marching Nighthawks at a homefootball game. The Marching Nighthawks are underthe direction of Mr. Bob Ebert & the Seahawk Bandis under the direction of Ms. Hollie Writtenberry.The bands jointly performed the national anthem aswell as the school fight song and other crowd-pleasing music from the stands.

Never Too Late for Innisbrook Sales
The numbers are in from our Innisbrookfundraiser. This years sales totaled$17,656. Thank you to all students andparents who participated. Congratulationsto Matthew McKenna, the grand prizewinner for this years sale, selling 56 items.
Other students deserving specialrecognition are Suzanne Harrison who sold
46 items and Aaron Kohlhafer and Logan Cole who each sold 41 items. We expect theitems to arrive at the end of this month or early next month. A big thank you to DeniceTappero, our Fundraising Chairman, for a job well done in a tough selling environment.Our numbers were down significantly from last year. This years PTO budget for grantrequests is based on $26,000 sales from last year. First Flight Middle School PTOwill continue to receive credit for any Innisbrook purchases using the schoolnumbers (109807). The holiday season is upon us so please consider usingInnisbrook for your wrapping paper and gift needs.
Another way to raise funds for your school is to link your Food Lion MVP (account#213065)and Harris Teeter VIC (account #6164)cards. VIC allows account proceeds
to be shared between more than one school and FFMS PTO loves to share.Remember, cards must be re-linked each year.

Why Join FFMS PTO?FFMS PTO raises funds and hosts events for our school. Funds raised areadministered by the PTO Board of Directors and go directly back in to the school forcultural arts performances, science and other special equipment, magazine and WeeklyReader publications, academic competitions, novels for special studies, andsupplementary classroom materials. Events hosted by PTO include teacher luncheons,dances, and various charitable activities.
