Dundee’s Christmas Lights Switch On5.30pm – 8.30pmFREECity Square

The action kicks off on stage at 5.30pm with presenters, fun and music.The torchlight procession arrives in City Square approx. 6.45pm ready for the Christmas message and the countdown to “lights on”! We recommend lining the streets to watch the procession as it winds its way into the square from The McManus down Commercial Street and into the High Street.After lights on, get your dancing shoes at the ready and birl your neighbour in a massive Christmas Ceilidh. Led by the fabulous Skyrie – your toes will tap and your arms will swing to the beat. Grab a warming drink at the bar and enjoy the festive fun.

Bring your little ones to Albert Square for our mini lights switch on happening simultaneously with the countdown live on screen from City Square! Enjoy the countdown on the screen beamed live from City Square and celebrate as we light up Pingoo the loveable Christmas penguin. A less busy event for those with wee ones or those who enjoy more breathingroom. Torchlight ProcessionMeet from 5.45pm leaving 6.30pm High School of Dundee

Take your place in our annual torchlight procession – made by and for the people of Dundee! Join the free family friendly public workshops to build your LED lantern (see workshops section), then come along on the night to join in! To carry a lit torch, you can just turn up on the night and register. You must be over 18 years to get your wristband. Best views of this spectacular event - line the streets of the procession route which snakes from High School of Dundee to Albert Square, Commercial Street, High Street and ends in City Square prior to lights switch on.
