This season is Joseph Lanza's 29th as Concertmaster of the Musicians of Orchestra London, and his second with the #WePlayOn musicians. He has been a soloist with this ensemble in every musical genre, and has also directed

programs with his colleagues annually since 1998.

Guest director engagements include the Thunder Bay Symphony and the Kitchener -Waterloo Symphony, where he has been re-engaged repeatedly.

Joseph's interest in music of the 17 th and 18 th century led to the exploration of performance on period instruments. He has been regularly engaged by Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra since 1996, including numerous recordings and tours around the world.

Joseph has taught at Western University since 1995, and is the coordinator of Western's Early Music Studio. He has lead workshops and clinics on historic performance with the Orchestre de la Francophonie in Montreal, and the National Academy Orchestra in Hamilton.

Joseph is married to oboist Jennifer Short; they are the proud parents of 16 year old Heather. The family is ably herded by two fine Shetland Sheepdogs, Fergus and Laika.

Caroleve obtained her A.R.C.T. degrees in

voice (Performer in 1979 and Teacher in 1984)

with some teaching shortly after. During the

past 20 years she has been teaching on a

regular basis with students ranging from young children to adults where she prepares them

to compete in music festivals and participate in Royal Conservatory of Music exams where

they have been very successful.

As a performer, she has sung the lead role in 12 operas with the Toronto City Opera. Some

include Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust, Amina in Bellini’s La Sonnambula, Violetta in Verdi’s

La Traviata and Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme.

As a soloist Caroleve performed with Coro Gi useppe Verdi, performing in Dubois’ The Seven

Last Words of Christ, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Violetta in a concert version of La Traviata.

Caroleve has performed joint reci tals with her husband, tenor Nihal Fonseka.

Clark Bryan completed his graduate work at the University of Western

Ontario and post graduate studies in France. He has studied with

many of the world’s most renowned pianists including Ousset and

Ashkenazy. Clark’s performance career has taken him to Europe,

North America and Mexico. He has done performances for CBC radio and television and has

recorded 12 CD’s of piano music to critical acclaim.

Other notable activities have included festival adjudication, competition juries, music

editing, workshops, a TEDxUWO talk, Ignite Cult ure talk, City Symposium talk and his

teaching. Mr. Bryan is currently President of the Ontario Registered Music Teac hers

Association London Branch.

In 2004, Mr. Bryan purchased the Aeolian Hall in London, Ontario. He received the “Special

Teacher” award from ORMTA London and was named Musical Personality of the Year by

the London Free Press in 2005. In 2009, he transformed the Governance Structure of the

Aeolian to a non-profit/charitable model and is highly involved in presenting and

promoting music, music education and the arts through this venue. A notable project is the

foundation of El Sistema at the Aeolian, a free UNESCO award winning music program for

children and youth.

Clark won a Jack Richardson Music Award in the “Contributor” category in 2011 celebrating

his contributions to the community.

John has been playing and teaching guitar for over 40 years.

Originally from Niagara Falls, New York. John had the

opportunity to play with many bands in Western New Y ork.

After moving to Thorold, he began teaching at Walter

Ostaneks and then Ryson’s United Studios.

After completing two degrees in Education, John was employed by Niagara Catholic District

School Board. After 40 years in the classroom, John has developed school music programs

that focused on choir, guitar and Jazz band.

This year, the Kiwanis Festival will highlight the talent of many students in the Niagara

region. As an adjudicator, John looks forward to seeing and hearing the diverse number of

students that have prepared for this prolific event.
