An overview of fertilizer statistics in Cote d’Ivoire from 2012 – 2015.
More emphasis is given to the year 2015 and each analysis is based on the products with higher quantities.
Official trade data obtained from Ivorian Customs and Validated by Fertilizer Technical Working Group – Cote d’Ivoire (FTWG-CIV)
2015 data validated from the 7th – 9th June, 2016.
Outline Background information
Fertilizer Production
• There are no primary productions of fertilizers in Cote d’Ivoire.
• Five (5) of the six (6) major importing companies; Louis Dreyfus Commodities Ltd, YARA
Cote d’Ivoire, Agro West Africa (AWA), Agri Plus and Société d’Engrais d‘Amendements et
de Phytosanitaire de Cote d’Ivoire (SEAP-CI) are also involved in secondary production
(blending) of fertilizers, fully operational with varied capacities located in Abidjan and
San Pedro.
• A small percentage of organic fertilizers are produced locally.
Fertilizer imports
Comments:
• Since 2013, Potassium chloride (MOP) has been the mostimported fertilizer to Cote d’Ivoire, accounting for 28% offertilizer imports in 2015.
• Over the years, imports of NPK’s have been low ascompared with MOP and Urea, but in 2015, NPK importsincreased to 68,770MT from 23,522MT in 2014.
• Top 6 fertilizers have remained constant and totalfertilizer imports has been increasing each year. (6%increase in 2015)
