The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a V12-powered four-passenger exotic sports car that features dramatic exterior styling and a sumptuously appointed interior. The 612's namesake is Sergio Scaglietti, a famous designer of Ferraris past, including the iconic 250 GTO. Though it looks like a front-engine car, the V12 is actually mounted far enough to the rear of the engine bay that the 612 is classified as a front-midengine design. It's the closest thing to a luxurious grand-touring coupe that the Italian automaker offers, yet it still boasts world-class acceleration and handling worthy of the Ferrari name.

The 612 is the latest V12-powered 2+2 to emerge from Ferrari's stables. Its illustrious ancestors include the America series, the 330 GT 2+2, the 365 GT4 2+2 (a.k.a. Daytona), the 400/412 and most recently the 456. Those are big shoes to fill, but the 612 is more than up to the task. Like its predecessors, it's a Ferrari for those who want most of the performance of harder-edged models in a relatively comfortable package.

he 2010 Murciélago LP640 is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 that produces 631 hp and 487 pound-feet of torque. The LP650-4 Roadster receives a slight bump to 640 hp, while the LP670-4 SV's output is increased to 661 hp. All-wheel drive is standard, as are front, center and rear limited-slip differentials. A six-speed manual transmission with a gated metal shifter is standard, while the paddle-shifted "e-gear" automated-clutch manual is optional. The SuperVeloce comes standard with the e-gear transmission with a no-cost option to substitute the manual gearbox.

According to Lamborghini, the Murciélago LP640 accelerates up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a spine-bending 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 211 mph. The SuperVeloce is expected to accelerate a few tenths of a second quicker and tops out at 209 mph. Fuel mileage with the manual transmission is 8 mpg city/13 mpg highway and 10 mpg combined, while the e-gear transmission is estimated at 9/14/11 mpg -- not that you'd really care, but it's nice to know, should someone ask.
