TWO NEW EXHIBITS AT FERMILAB A pre-Columbian pottery collection

and photographs by Wynn Bullock will share the Central Laboratory exhibit area as the 1980 cultural activities begin at Fermilab.

They can be seen on the south side of the second floor. The exhibits will be here until the middle of February, said Saundra Cox, a consultant to the Laboratory for art exhibits. She , along with Jose Poces and Angela Gonzales, both of Fermilab, arranged and set up the exhibits.

The pottery collection is on loan from The Chicago Art Institute and the Bullock exhibit comes from the Gilbert Gallery of Chicago .

Pre-Columbian means the pieces were made before 1492, explained Cox. The exhibit contains 43 vessels . Some were for everyday use and some were for ceremonial purposes . They come from this country and Central and South America. The items are all earthenware, low fired pottery, non-glazed with slip decorations, said Cox. Many of the decorations are built around geometric and animal themes.
