Call to Order
Approval of August 17, 2015 Meeting Minutes: The FTTC should review and approve the minutes.
Review of Planting Plan and Ash Tree Removal and Treatment for Chestnut Ridge Manor (CRM): As a follow up to the FTTC meeting in April and a site view by the FTTC on July 27th, Mark Noel, President of the CRM Homeowner Association (HOA), has been invited to present a planting plan to the FTTC for review and approval. At the April meeting, the Chairman noted certain conditions that would or would not be considered for future planting. After the July 27th site view, Lance King, Township Arborist, prepared a planting plan for consideration. In advance of this meeting, Mark Noel and Township Arborist, Lance King, had an opportunity to meet and review both plans. The FTTC should review the planting plan for CRM street trees prepared by the Township Arborist and consider the request by Mark Noel, and make a recommendation to staff.
Reivew updated Planting Plan for Cobble Creek: The FTTC should review and approve the revised planting plan.
Review updated Miscellaneous Tree Removal and Planting Plan: The FTTC should review and approve the revised removal and planting plan for various locations throughout the Township.
Thistlewood: David Modricker, Public Works Director, will provide background information regarding street trees in the Thistlewood Subdivision. Thistlewood HOA representatives may desire to address the FTTC. The FTTC will discuss the request by the Thistlewood HOA to replant street trees in the development.
Resolution 2014-24 Approved List of Tree Species, Cultivars and Hybrids for Street and Park Trees The FTTC will discuss revisions to the approved planting list.
Arborist report: Lance King will review work activities and plan reviews since last meeting and review door hangers and notices.
Communications to Commission Members This is an opportunity for FTTC members to report on any contact by residents regarding FTTC matters.
Future agenda items Amendments to the official Township plant list for subdivisions and land development

The Ferguson Township Public Works

the Township right-of-way in grassplot area bor-
dering your property. This tree will benefit you,
your neighbors and the community. Trees keep
temperature down in the summer, present a
barrier to winter winds, provide habitat for birds
and other wildlife, reduce noise and air pollution
and improve the aesthetic quality of life. Street
trees in newer subdivisions are required by ordi-
nance to be installed by the developer and guar-
anteed for one year. After that time the cost of
replacement trees and future maintenance are
the Township’s responsibility.

would like to enlist your help.
• You may saturate the soil surrounding the
tree about every other week during the first
several months following planting.
• We have placed mulch around the tree to
retain moisture. In future years, the town-
ship or you may continue to add mulch to
the base of the tree, however do not pile the
mulch against the base of the tree.
Please do not use weed killers on mulch or grass
areas underneath tree canopies. Trees can
absorb these chemicals, resulting in damage or
death of the tree. Fresh grass clippings should
not be used as mulch for trees as this may ad-
versely affect tree health. We also ask you to be
cautious when mowing around the new tree to
prevent damage to the bark which may result in
disease and/or insect problems.
If we have installed tree stakes or guy wires on
the tree, please do not remove them. Once the
tree becomes established (about one year)
these supports will be removed.
The Township conducts routine inventories and
pruning of street trees. Homeowners are re-
quested not to prune street trees.
We hope this tree will provide you with many
years of enjoyment. Should you have any ques-
tions about this (or any) tree in the Township
right-of-way, please feel free to call the Public
Works Department at 238-4651.

( ) Improper Pruning: The tree(s) abutting your property were pruned incorrectly or without a permit from the Township. No work shall be done on Township owned trees without a permit, and pruning must be done in accordance with Resolution # 2014-25: Regulations and Standards for Arbor Work.
( ) Lawn Equipment Damage: The tree(s) abutting your property have been damaged by lawn equipment (lawn tractors, lawn mowers, string trimmers). This damage is detrimental to tree health and will cause the tree to decline and possibly die. Care must be taken when operating this equipment near trees.
