Financial Aid Eligibility
Satisfactory Academic Progress
(SAP)
To remain eligible for federal aid (and some
alternative loans), students must:
1. Complete 67% of all attempted credits each
semester and cumulatively;
2. Earn a minimum GPA of 2.00 each semester
and cumulatively;
3. Not receive all Fs or incompletes in any
given semester.

Enrollment Information
• Enrollment Status for Graduate Students:– Full-Time = 9 credits (6 during summer)
• Or a 20-hour/wk assistantship + minimum number of credits
– Half-Time = 5 credits (3 during summer)
• Nine credits required for full financial aid consideration:– Half-Time Aid = 5 credits minimum
• Tuition Cap is 12 credits (nine in summer) – Certain courses are not included in cap (self-support/DCE)
• Maximum # Credits for Registration:– 15 credits per semester max – some programs vary
(permission required to exceed cap)
Registration Reminders• Register early – do not wait for waiver or assistantship
paperwork to be processed
• Graduate School requires continuous enrollment
(fall/spring) until you defend
– If taking a leave of absence, notify Graduate
School
• Good standing requires maintaining a 3.00 cumulative
GPA in graduate studies at NDSU
• If taking undergraduate courses along with graduate
work, submit Dual Career form for appropriate
record/billing.
