Dear fellow mates of “good & tough times”,

Call it by any name -- Holi, Holika, Dol Yatra, Dol Purnima, Basant Utsav --- the festival of colours is here & my warm wishes to all of you & your extend-ed family. Long before water balloons and water guns came into existence, Holi was only an idea- an idea that transpired to become one of the most amusing festivals of the world. The relevance of colour is the hope & the belief that colouring something gives life to it, so Holi is the celebration of Life itself. Holi accolades life, love, its vitality and its passion.

Last time we met on the same platform was during the occasion of Diwali which is celebrated as a triumph of "Good over Evil" & that was exactly 5 months back. During this brief period, we did have reasons of celebra-tions for Christmas, New Years, Pongal, Saraswati Puja & many other dates in the calendar including our 3Q review @ Rain Forest, in Igatpuri. Though, we are playing the catch up game to meet the budgeted number but I’m pleased to share that we clocked a 7% growth over previous quarter, which gives us hope of touching the finishing tape with honours. At, the end of January your company is 77 % of desired budget & hence the re-maining days before 31st March will be challenging. Amongst many reasons of the shortfall, the reasons which stand out are -- 1) Dismal "Instrumentation Product" availability------ which affected Instrumentaion Sales. 2) The inability of Deccan belt to shift gears to meet the requirement of Challenge Products.

HR trend curve indicates that attrition rate still remains a challenge in the short term. Factory Automation Products along with Solar is doing a wonderful job, both in terms of qualitative & quantitative results. The New Micro drives on it’s test marketing as well as DC Drive Module Sales is showing early signs of promise. Project Teams have significantly enhanced their performance both in terms of Quality of Execution & Margin Improvement.

I salute to the team leaders for the brilliant execution of the Projects in Drive Projects, Energy Management, Micrex View XX ,Port Cranes & bringing the prestigious Panipat Smart Grid Project near to it’s closure. So, in

overall scenario, FEI is in the safe hands of the Func-tional Leaders. They de-serve a big clap for navigat-ing FEI through the tough time!!!! Enjoy the Colours of Holi & FEEL Holy !

mance appraisals, regular feed-backs and so on. At FEI we take initiatives to assess the skills and knowledge of employees and de-sign relevant training programs in line with their interest areas, needs and requirements. In Jan-uary, we called more than 70 of our employees from across India for quarterly review followed by training on new products & shar-ing the best practices of existing products.

FEI has global business dealings & so global economy, global cul-ture, global etiquette is import-ant for all our employees .We need to understand the “Do’s and Don’ts” of email writing to maintain a professional attitude and tone in all our correspon-dence. To meet the purpose, we arranged one day session on Email Etiquette on 14th Oct 2017at Bhiwandi Office by an external trainer. Our employees were ex-tremely happy with this

training and their feedback clearly indicated the same. Leaving aside the same, another training pro-gram was conducted at our Farid-abad Office on MS Excel on 1st & 2nd Dec 2017. The training helped our employees to save lot of time on day to day activities by using various formulas and shortcuts. It enhanced their analytical skills & business analysis.

Three of our employees went for “Training for Enhancement of Sales Skills” in Thailand from 27th Nov 2017 to 1st Dec 2017. Heartiest Congratulations to Neha Gupta, Sivaraj V, Arun KP, for doing India proud. FEI also nominated Mr. Rajesh Dabhole from Finance Department for Risk Management Seminar held in Malaysia on 24th Jan 2018.

In his first address to the Infosys em-ployees, the new CEO of Infosys Train-ings, Mr Salil Parekh informed that each of the employees has an import-ant role to play in today’s world of continuous technological disruptions by reskilling themselves & keep them relevant & employable to face adverse situations in the changing world. Re-skilling has become the buzzword since demand rises for skills in host of new fields including cloud, machine learning , artificial intelligence inter-net of things & blockchain. New skills and learnings acquired by an employ-ee through trainings would not only help them in their present job but also make them employable for all their future assignments.

Scoring a perfect 100 is always a matter of pride but when the award comes from a Japanese Leader it is Super Pride. Happy to share the latest achievement of Drive Projects which cornered the glory of Supplier Quality Rating from Daikin Air-conditioning factory @ Neemrana. Daikin was procuring our Drive Pa-nels for Centrifugal Compressors for Project require-ments. In Fy 17-18 they started manufacturing a new model (WMC) of Screw Chiller Compressor with our Frenic ACE. After their rigorous trials at their Factory they chose us as a partner to supply regular pro-duction Unit Mounted VFD Panels. Design, Develop-ment, Manufacturing, Testing and supply was done by FEI Drive Project team under the able expertise of Amit Chavare. Our first lot went through Daikin Incoming Quality Audit and we scored a perfect 100.

Kudos to the entire Project team and especially to

"FEI – QA dept", led by Yogesh Dalvi.

Navigating Instrumentation Business – Sanjeev . C

Fuji Electric Instrumentation group develops attractive and advanced compo-nents to be integrated into solution systems, and promote package sales to energy, environment and social infrastructure automation. Application of such sensors serve for safety and support communication network to improve the efficiency of the information bu-siness.

Fuji electric introduced its range of instrumentation products in India partnering with erstwhile Instrumen-tation limited-Kota in the year 1984 and then had a joint venture with Thermax (TFEL - Thermax-Fuji Electric Ltd) till 2000. Fuji electric was a leading supplier of field instrumentation and had a top share in the PT/DPT electronic transmitter market.

Fuji electric lost its market share in India after end of TFEL venture when products were solely marketed through limited distributor network till 2012. Fuji Electric India then expanded its operations from Drives (power electronics) and integrated instrumentation operations. After a year of market research, Fuji electric India developed a market re-entry strategy and started sales operations in 2013. Sales of instrumentation business has grown double within a span of 3 years despite challenges of domain knowledge, sales network, product competencies, supply chain management and end-user / consultant prescription sales. Today the instrumentation team is complete and fully geared up with required product competencies, enabling service infrastructure and operational systems to serve the market and take a quantum leap!

Instrumentation engineering is a specialized branch of electrical and electronic engineering and it deals with measurement, control and automation of all process and manufacturing industry such as steel, oil, petroche-mical, power and defense production.

It is not manpower-intensive but is a multi-disciplinary stream that covers subjects from various branches. It requires talented individuals that have specific skills in measurement science and engineering. FEI is fortunate to have them in right quantity & they make good Sales & Application engineers, who identifies customer requi-rements and position the right product and solution from FE portfolio to best align with the customer’s needs. Our application engineers, have in-depth knowledge of measurement techniques and products, and is res-ponsible for demonstrating and applying solutions at the customer’s place. This act enables sales and increases customers’ confidence in the company and its capabilities. Our engineers are required to travel extensively and frequently to remote areas which is a rare skill these days in fresh graduates from Indian universities.

Automation is the buzz word in process industry, and automation is the core job of instrumentation engineers. Our FEI instrumentation team will continue to push and contribute to the future growth of Fuji Electric India. We intend to grow 20% year over year !

Memoirs of the Tokyo visit for Micrex ViewXX-

Siddharth Ray

Micrex ViewXX PMCS has a long legacy in Japan and other parts of the world. Hitherto it was a subject in Fuji Electric India which was being pondered upon since long and finally in the month of August 2017 our West team bestowed a blessing in the form of the 1st Micrex ViewXX PMCS Order from Kutch Chemicals. The pro-ject started off with a bang with full enthusiasm of the entire team. We struggled a lot initially for which a training was arranged for the project team at Tokyo headquarters to brush up on our acts. On 4th November 2017 we left for Tokyo with the 1st Scare – my colleague Kamlesh got trapped in the famous Mumbai traffic and was barely about to miss the first international flight of his life. Somehow we cajoled the Air Nippon staff to escort him till the boarding gate so that he would not miss the flight. The training started off smoothly at the Tokyo Office. The FE Japanese engineers were very sound technically and made all attempts to satisfy

the probing, inquisitive and challenging questions of ours. They gathe-red the best of their various departments to help and train us on various topics. We understood due to the vast nature of the topics closing times were required to be extended, which FE Japan happily did as per our re-quest to make the most out of our visit. The trainings would usually end with a sumptuous Japanese cuisine dinner along with traditional Sake.

In between the hectic training Schedule we could make out time on a Sunday for an essential visit to Mt. Fuji more so over since we work in the namesake company and other touristic sites. Training commenced the next day with more vigour. Schedule was with late nights as if we were studying for an exam and visits to various departments of the factory.

It was a big learning curve for the entire team and I am confident to say that we have returned with some positive results which would make our 1st Micrex ViewXX project successful in all terms.

Our team is fully geared up to execute more PMCS projects and we should SELL SELL & SELL more of the FUJI PMCS to make it more popu-lar in India. By the time , this article reaches you , we would have fini-shed the FAT of Kutch Chemical & the panel would have been dispatched.

FEI Moments & My Career Progression – Sneha. G

I still remember the day when I joined Fuji Electric, which was an Indian office of FE, Asia Pacific on 19th July 2007. I entered the office as an Admin Assistant and could see two more faces, sitting behind me and busy in their own work. In 2009 this office became a fully owned subsidiary & was Christened as Fuji Electric India Pvt Ltd. It’s been 11 years now since my association with this company, but it seems as if it was yesterday. However, there is a big difference between then and now Those days it was a small company trying to find its feet in an unfa-miliar environment. It’s distinctly different today. We are a medium scale enterprise with a factory, design & engineering office, panel shop. We are going to be 140 by the time this edition hits the table. Our footprints span the length & breadth of the country. I have seen this monumental transformation with my own eyes and have gained a wealth of knowledge, which I will treasure forever.

I am thankful to the company for giving me multiple opportunities and work exposure to hone my skills and gain expertise in my domain. In fact, I went beyond my Admin department and interacted with people working in other areas, such as Human Resource, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, etc. and have learned to do mul-ti-tasking. Getting to work in this prestigious company has been a remarkable learning experience. Every single day here, amongst you all makes my day a fulfilling one and helps me to become an enriched individual. Now I am working as Assistant Manager –Admin and I am very happy and satisfied with my career growth in FEI. I joined this company almost as a fresher, Thankfully, my job role threw enormous challenges which taught me practical lessons of work and problem solving. It also made me compassionate and grounded. It’s been a wonderful experience working here till now and wish to cherish many more such years.

NEDO launched a full-scale smart grid demonstration project on the actual grid system together with Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN). Installation of a Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition sys-tem with approximately 10,000 smart meters was recently completed.

The project’s goal is to demonstrate technology for reducing distribution loss, a key challenge faced by power distribution companies in India. With NEDO’s system installed, distribution loss is reduced by monitoring and controlling the distribution system with the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System, as well as by collecting data on electricity consumption via the installed smart meters in the target area in Panipat.

By undertaking this project, NEDO aims to contribute to transforming the distribution network in India into a «smart» system, and in doing so, promote the dissemination of Japanese smart community technology.

Following technological innovations will be demonstrated in the project:

(1) Peak load reduction technology

(2) Distribution line monitoring and control technology

(3) Distribution loss reduction technologies to deal with power theft.

On January 25, a startup ceremony was held at the Training Center in Panipat to commemorate the launch of full-scale operations for the smart grid technology demonstration project. Attendees included Mr. Mano-har Lal, Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Yoshiteru Sato, Executive Director at NEDO; Mr. Kenji Goto, Executive Officer at Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. & many other distinguished guests.

Long-term Monitoring from 15th June 2015 to 18th February 2017

Mechanical vibration of Imput shaft became large 23rd December2016

WISEROT for Gearbox- Hiroko Fukuda / Abhishek Chatterjee

WISEROT (Wireless Simple Diagnostic System for Rotating Machine) has not yet given FEI major commercial success but surely it has evoked strong response @ many Japanese account.

Below is the report of a Wiserot User in Japan for their Gearbox since June 2015.The report shows that WISEROT detected abnormality of their Gearbox. Vibration wave forms of Gearbox are very small (almost zero) under nor-mal conditions, however, it would become large when pro-blems happen with Gearbox.

Also, our other customer in India Honda Cars (Automo-bile) who is using WISEROT since 2016, found a crack of a gear in the multiple Gearbox by WISEROT.

As they saw Q Value of Gearbox became large in WISEROT analysis software, they opened Gearbox in maintenance and found one of gears had cracked. They replaced one gear only and could avoid to replace all Gearbox which is expen-sive. Immense potential exists with the Product.

2. Communication b/w SPF PLC & LED display board to show 4 defined parameters i.e. Temperature/pressure/flow/humidity with their actual values.

I also attended interaction session of FAP and FEI service team. Keizo Tanabiki and Terry Boon Chin Yap helped FEI to enhance competency of our ser-vice centre & this exercise helped me to unders-tand the reason of failure of many components.

Working on all these products in FEI is very enjoyable for me since it makes me use all the techniques and theo-retical knowledge that I learned during my enginee-ring & master’s and apply them to the practical world.

My workplace environment is very diverse, all em-ployees with different strengths & qualification are working together. I am very happy with my learning & experience curve of 6 months and want to explore more. For me, success is a journey & not a destina-tion, the doing is more important than the outcome.

My Journey with FEI-

Kajal Kumari

My journey with FEI started on 17th July 2017, as a Senior Executive-Techni-cal Help desk and Training with a belief “Aim for the sky, but move slowly, en-joying every step along the way”. Truly it was those little steps which started in Faridabad with my learning of PID Control & Motion Controllers. My expe-rience before joining FEI was related to PLC/SCADA programming and imparting training in automation Industry.

After a stint of about a month in Fari-dabad, I moved to Mumbai, just in time to be a part of our stall in Automation Expo, where I witnessed the colossal product range of FE for the first time & also inspected Mumbai as a city for my

professional career. After launching of the prized product SPF PLC I started handling software conversion cases of WSZ PLC to SPF under the guidance of our Team and also became a part of the training provided by Ogasawara San from FEJ. Through the guidance of FEI team members, I was fortunate enough to gain knowledge & have hands on training of other hardware products in Drives, Motion, Automation & Instrumentation Basket. I also had the oppor-tunity of gathering real world experience @ Nuvision Instrumentation Solution Pvt Ltd. which was my first site visit as an application engineer to implement and visualize the application. Last year was really the challenging and business community learnt many unpredic-table lessons from the economy. With all the challenges and uncertainties year was really exciting to operate & was a life term learning .To cope up with such uncertain-ties and changing environment we need to continuously reinforce & revitalize the orga-nization.

West Region did the same by -

• Auditing HR resources & finding the strength & weakness of the ind-viduals/ team. • Realigning the Organizations

• Adding experienced business ta-lents in the team.

• Participating in the major business events & making the business events happen.

Task was really challenging since we needed to maximize the coverage geographically, address the same with product usage & application knowledge, move towards automation solution of factory process & infrastructure coupled with strengthening our Industry domain knowledge. I’m confident that we are nearly there with fresh faces in the team & leveraging the exis-ting resources. The table below provide the details of the new faces & their brief portfolios. –

Reinforcement & Revitalization in West- Vishal Vadalia

Philosophical thoughts, The Red Moon - Piyush

17

Flat Bed Knitting Machine

There was once a little grey planet that was very sad. Inhabitants hadn’t looked after it, despite having gained from all the inventions. They had contaminated the whole countryside so much with rubbish and pollution that there were no plants or animals left.

One day, a little boy was walking on the planet, when he passed a cave and noticed a small red flower in-side. The flower was very sick - almost dying - so the boy carefully dug up the flower, with roots, soil and everything. Then, he started looking for a place where he could plant it. He searched all over the planet, but everywhere it was so contaminated that there was no place for the flower to survive. Then he looked up at the sky and noticed the moon. The boy thought that the plant would surely survive there.

So the little boy put on his astronaut suit, and climbed into a space ship. He put the little red flower in the back, and off they went to the moon. Far away from all that pollution - and with the boy visiting it every day to tend it - the flower started to grow. The flower was so well cared by the Moon Nature that it had ger-minated, giving birth to others, and these other flowers spread onto other flowers. Before long, the whole moon was completely covered with flowers. That’s why, whenever the little boy’s flowers open up, for a few minutes the moon takes on a soft red sheen, like a warning light. Maybe it’s telling us that if you don’t look after your planet, a day will come when flowers will only grow on the moon.

Joys and Sorrows in Automation Sales - Achintya. M

Sales as a profession happens to be often a very much a misunderstood word in common parlance even by the Sales person. The common precincts are that sales people do not do justice to their engineering back-ground .They often seem to be in a hurry & find reasons for short cuts or quick fix solutions as is evidenced every day in our organization. But the reality needs to be 180 degree apart.

The role of sales persons are ambassadorial and their quality and demeanors provide an insight to the mis-sion and vision of the company. A sales person of any product has not only to know thoroughly the mecha-nism for his product and services, he has to know the market to which he is selling, the strength of other similar products populating the particular market and the statutory rules of selling. In the process, he works as the interface between the company he represents and the market place where he works. The challenges become tougher when the Sales person need to sell application based automation solution.

Automation engineer has to learn and understand a bit of process and hence the Chemical and Mechanical engineering aspects to represent his product & solution aptly.

Here are some guide rules for Automation sales which can bring joy to the flag bearers.

• Align your brand & product to client’s needs and creating a customized winning proposal,

• Do your homework , be articu-late , be confident to deliver the solution.

• Spend time to analyse whether you should quote & you have all the answers for taking part in the bid. Do not run, just because you have an enquiry in hand.

• After reading the enquiry & on making the proposal gather the art of writing the system description & story telling. Be thorough in your work in knowing the solution fitment.

• Know the end user & their hierarchy. Identify the Coach, Technical Buyer & the Economic buyer. Call on each of them with specific value added message.

Joys of winning leave lasting impressions of ecstasy far beyond material gains. This picture is one such event chronicled on the day of collecting FEI’s first ever DCS order and at the campus of KUTCH-CHEMICALS.

The author considers it as of the best moments of his life.

BENEFITS OF IQA TRAINING:

1. This training will help us to review and identify the strengths, weakness and problems of existing rules, tools, process and procedures.

2. We are confident to strengthen and expand the scope of QMS and ISO 9001 certification to more functional areas like project engineering and sales, based on the recommendation.

We are fortunate to attend the training session on Quality Audit in January. It was very much informative and gave us more clarity about concept and guidelines for Internal Qua-lity Audit.

We learned concept and importance of QMS, The require-ment of ISO 9001:2015 QMS and applying it in our organi-zation, Type of Audits, Principles of Auditing, Phases of Au-dit, Risk based thinking, Preparation of Audit Checklist, PDCA cycle, Finding Non conformity and reporting, Conclusion of Audit with corrective actions proposal.

The internal audit program is a part of Quality Management System (QMS). It is one of the most important tool for driving the improvement in QMS.

The life cycle of an Internal Audit based on PDCA cycle descri-bed as follows:

Waste Management in Cement Industry - Shreyash

Internal Quality Audit training – Gayatri.B & Subhash.C

There are wide variety of waste management solutions in industrial and commercial sector. To reduce de-mands on natural resources, reduce pollution and landfill space, sustainable development concept like Co-processing can be implemented. Co-Processing involves the use of suitable waste materials generated during manufacturing process of Cement or equivalent industry and utilise the same as alternative for

conventional fuels. Co-processing offers a signifi-cant potential for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels.

Number of large cement plants in India are more than 200 and most of these plants are owned by biggest Cement companies. These giants have committed to reduce the use of conventional fuel, raw material and make safe environmental foot-print. Fuji Electric offers effective & reliable techno-logy solution for continuous emission monitoring (CEMS) & Process gas analysis for measurement of gasses generated during Co-processing.

TDLAS (Tuneable Diode Laser Spectroscopy) is ano-ther proven and established technology for Co-pro-cessing application.

I am associated with Instrumentation & Process Auto-mation Projects at Bhiwandi. I’m responsible for com-plete panel design, hardware engineering and testing of all projects related with the mentioned discipline.

It was a privilege for me to work on our 1st Micrex ViewXX DCS project for a Sulphuric Acid plant. I had a substantial learning curve in this project since I was a fresher to DCS field. I learnt about the Micrex ViewXX System in detail while designing the system architecture and related drawings. The panel was built by our panel builder associate @ Ahmedabad as per our design and drawings.

I was assigned to test the system at vendor works. My family was very tense when I told them about my desire to visit Ahmedabad for the job. I accepted the challenge and completed the work successfully within the sche-duled time.

Ennhanced my learning curve – Gayatri. B

Some lessons learnt during the job were - 1. Usage of Conformal Coated modules.

2. Normal terminals to be used instead of fused termi-nals for RTD/TC Signals which was identified during the testing.

3. Panel Engineering in terms of redesigning of ducts needed to be done on shop floor.

4. Full IO testing/BOM/Electrical Checks as per drawings were done at Panel builder’s premises to ensure no sur-prises during FAT at CC.

5. Enforcing a full documented Pre FAT check as per the approved FAT procedure from customer to reduce pu-nch points during inspection.

Finally I am pleased to inform –1 The experience made me a better engineer & pro-vided immense confidence to face the technological challenges & work on the shop floor.

2 Face the man’s world with confidence

3 Customer was impressed with the quality, our pre-paredness & dedication for the job.

4 I’m proud to be a member of the first DCS project of FEI. Now, I am ready for new challenges for more projects. 20

There are some Eventful happenings that we see, hear, perceive or FEEL very often. Have you ever bought a shirt which sheds it’s colour? It gives away the colour because it was “Kuccha” but when the colour latches on to the neighbourly shirt in the bucket, it becomes “Pucca” on the friendly neighbour --- One man’s Kuccha colour is other man’s Pucca colour.

Have you realised that when we add the pure odds or the pure even nu-mbers, it is always EVEN? So, we as individuals need to add the odds to the odds that come our way. No other event could teach us better than our recent trip to Rainforest Resort, Igatpuri during our Q3 sales review. The schedule was holistically arranged by our admin department. Howe-ver, we faced ODDS when a group booking of the armed forces and our bookings were mixed, as a result of which our double occupancy turned to multi-occupancy.

The odd thing was that, we found ourselves “8-in-one-room” with one toilet to attend to our morning calls & be in time for purpose for which we assembled. This was really ODD. But the team was not to be cowed down.

Again, realized, odd when added to an odd is always even. After dinner, we were all stressed about the next day morning rush hour. All of a sud-den, one of my colleague suggested that we should unwind and play some online shooter game. But how was the question since there was ''no network coverage".

We were in the ages before cellphones existed. Again, another odd!. Reluctantly, I turned on my hotspot, minimized the game to the back-ground and was deeply upset of the happenings. Suddenly, one of my colleagues screamed out that the local network was connected. Eve-ryone picked up their cell phones and to our disbelief, without the cel-lular network, hotspot or WLAN worked even for online data sharing or RTS gaming.

The last odd, made us forget all odds and the merry session of gaming after years into professional life made us forget all the stress that we were facing few minutes before. So, always believe in the odds and keep coun-ting for odds.Never give up! Rest be assured that it will Even Out.

We enjoyed, the event because of our Spirits!

Experiencing Snow in Japan -

Takeo Yamashita

Happy Holi

22

When Shoumitra sir & I visited Tokyo, Japan on the week of 22th Jan 2018, we were suffered from a rare heavy snowfall from the arrival date of Japan. The winter in Tokyo located in the Kanto plain is relatively calm and often sees snow at least once or twice a year, but this time it was expected to accumulate rather than quickly melt as it usually. As such, cars and public transport are not always prepared for the disruption and it can cause wides-pread chaos when snow falls on railroad lines

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued heavy snow warnings and prompted all companies to advise em-ployees to leave work early for the area around the ca-pital. Actually, just 2 weeks before, 100 people were trapped overnight in a train in northern Japan due to heavy snow.

As Administration depart-ment in Fuji Electric Japan instructed all employees to leave work early, the sche-duled meeting and dinner were cancelled. However, since many people concen-trated and rushed home ear-ly, admission was restricted at several stations in Tokyo. And many train operators such as JR-East reduced or cancel services, and some Shinkansen bullet trains were run at lower speeds. In addition, almost highway sections in and around the capital were closed due to the slippery surface.

The focus of the seminar touched the topics of --• How to minimize the probability of and destruction caused by negative events.

• Incident-specific, site-specific analysis of potential causes of interruptions,

• How risk managers seek to preclude incidents from occurring.

• If elimination of the risk is not possible, how the focus moves to minimizing the results of the-

negative event with BCM steps in.

• How BCM helps maintain the viability of an en-tity under duress by categorizing the effects on facilities, on operational capability, on technology and finally on the organization itself, ranging from financial problems to intellectual property rights.

• Order of priority measures

• Disaster Simulation Training.

The seminar was concluded with a closing speech by Fuji Electric India.

Disaster Risk and Business Continuity

Management – Rajesh. D

23

Information Technology, as the name suggests is the backbone of any organisation. FEI is constantly try to improve it’s systems and adapt to the changes in terms with the technology. We made a shift from a basic USB dongle to Wi-Fi enabled hotspots for our team which provides greater data speed and usage limit without incurring an increase in cost.

We constantly try to improve the work ease and yet enhancing security of our systems to protect data theft and malicious activities. We have activated a work friendly and yet conservative IT policy to reduce misuse and wrong use of the IT network. We now have a private network connecting the three main offices of our organisation – Corporate Office (Andheri), Competency Centre and India Drive Factory (Bhiwandi) and Delhi office. We are constantly upgrading the IT hardware to meet the modern needs, relying more on all to make the system reliable, secure and user friendly.

IT Update in FEI - Rafique Shaikh

We successfully upgraded our domain with the Ja-panese regulations and migrated in the FeWare do-main. We have Procured New SQL Server for ERP Sys-tem to handle greater database with ease & flexibility. We shifted our application server from Bhiwandi to HO for better and smoother connectivity and for ease of maintenance.

In the coming days, to reduce down time @ Bhiwandi, we plan to use redundant networks for internet usage. Procurement of new laptops and upgradation of exis-ting laptops are in progres which will help us for kee-ping in touch with changed technology.

There is a very thin line between security and freedom. We, @ IT Department respect both and hence we plan to procure advanced software for the security and threat protection of our systems which is also a lighter package than the existing software and will make our systems smoother to use. We have plan to introduce an asset manage-ment software to manage IT inventory. Introduc-tion of firewall for better data security and other IT hardware like network printer and CCTVs @ regio-nal level are in progress. Great time ahead for the IT users & implementors @ FEI !

Business With Divine Touch - Hardik Bhatt /Gautam Ghosh

India is a land of diversities. This diversity is also visible in the spheres of religion & cultures. In India one religion may have more than one Tradition System (“Sampradaya”) & these systems have their own identity. Such tradi-tions exist since centuries. Slowly due to strong beliefs and social bonding some traditions emerged significantly and created their own identity and some times it became a religion also.“Swaminarayna Sampradaya” is the ideal example of such system evolved in recent times. Swaminarayana tradition is spread across the globe. They have establishments manned & supported by bright engineers & professionals.Few other shining examples are “ ISKON”, Belur Math & many others.

Such organisations are contributing to social cause from the donations they receive. The social contri-butions are in the form of Hospitals, Mass Kitchens, Theme Parks, Musical fountains & many others in the development of Social Infrastructure. Doing business with such organizations are mainly for supporting a “Social Cause”.We at FEI is trying to collaborate for such projects with “Swaminarayana “. Opportunities are available to serve these establishments through energy savings ,HVAC, Automation & Instrumentation. Recently, we met with success when we got an entry in one hospital project in Surat. The success came after a successful trial of our VFD in their screw chillers.
