Feeding Clinic Mankato Clinic Children’s Health Center Eating is not always easy for everyone. It requires that multiple systems in our bodies work together seamlessly allowing us to swallow and digest the nutrients we need to grow and be healthy. When a child is struggling to eat—whether it is difficulty chewing or swallowing, an aversion to food textures, mealtime anxiety or a chronic health issue—it often requires a team to work together to ensure that each situation is met with the proper evaluation and treatment. At the Feeding Clinic, we bring together our team of specialists from Pediatrics, Nutrition Education, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy to work with each patient and family on an individual plan for care. This collaborative team is a cooperative effort between Mankato Clinic and Pediatric Therapy Services, Inc. The team approach brings new perspectives and options forward to successfully meet unique challenges. At the Feeding Clinic, we will assess your child’s anatomy, behavior, eating habits and overall health. After evaluation, the team recommends treatments to help each child learn and develop critical eating and drinking skills and follow-up for nutritional needs. Sometimes this includes at home feeding techniques, feeding therapy sessions and adaptive equipment. If additional specialists are required, those referrals and recommendations are also made. Follow-up may include a video swallow study at the Diagnostic Imaging department within the Mankato Clinic on Main Street. Making an AppointmentPlease talk to your child’s primary care provider if you

think your child could benefit from a Feeding Clinic.

The primary care provider can arrange a referral and will

have the Mankato Clinic Patient Services Team set-up

the appointment for your child including any necessary

paperwork. Patient Services can be contacted by stopping

at any Mankato Clinic location Patient Services desk or by

calling 507-389-8574 or faxing 507-625-2194.
