Introductiony C entral Statistical Office ( C SO) was setup by the

Government of Pakistan in 1950.y Statistical system was reviewed from time to time by

both local and foreign consultants.y In 1972, on the recommendation of IBRD Mission, it

was upgraded to a full-fledged Statistics Division.y In 1981C SO was converted into Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).

accurate, reliable, timely, comprehensive and user-

friendly information to public, private, national andinternational organizations. FBS will undertakeresearch, up-to-date its technical knowledge andadopt improved methodologies and new technologiesfor meeting the future demand of potential users.
