FEBRUARY 2019 Co-Curricular Activity Topic: Caption Writing Even if a picture worth a thousand words, it still needs a caption to draw readers, provide context. Photo caption writing was held on 1st Feb 2019 for Std III, IV and V. Students enjoyed writing the caption for the picture displayed on the smart board. Students observed the photograph and it ignited their thoughts. It helped the students to come up with high standards of creativity, clarity and good writing skills. Date: 01st Feb 2019 CCA: Stand-up Comedy Laughter is a way of letting out our inner stress on a daily basis. The first purpose of comedy is to make people laugh. The stand-up comedy competition was held on 01st Feb 2019 for Std VI, VII, VII and IX. Students enjoyed by expressing their hidden talents. They were appreciated by their classmates. It helped students to come up with good humorous thoughts in a short period of time with its own original essence. Date: 01st Feb 2019 Friday Assembly Friday Morning assembly was conducted by the Bhakti house students of Std VII C on 01st Feb 2019.31st January marks the Martyrs day to commemorate and pay our homage to the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhiji (who was the foremost in the national struggle for independence) and all those who have sacrificed their lives for our motherland. To glorify and honour this day nationwide 2 minutes silence is observed at 11.00 am. This information was shared by Nishchita of Std V. This week’s assembly was interesting and informative. SPORTS DAY

The event of Sports Day for Std I and II began by invoking the blessings of divine followed by the welcome address. The annual sports report was also presented during the show. The topic chosen was ‘SWACHATA’.Earlier in the day the duty conscience students of Std I & II marched for the cause. During the display of the events every class highlighted the importance of keeping our Earth clean and green. The display brought a momentum among the parents and they were equally participative in receiving the message conveyed by our tiny warriors. The props used for the display were very creatively designed and used under the able guidance of the class teachers of Std I and II. The message that only if we support each other we can make this Earth a better place to live was very clear. Smt. Rama Venkat Co-ordinator, Academic Council- SSRVM TRUST, our chief guest – appreciated the students and was overwhelmed to see the young yodhas of SSRVM taking the task of ‘SWACHATA” in their hands.Our Principal Mrs. Mamatha Raviprakash addressed the gathering and urged the parents to practice the‘Marg’ what, our children of SSRVM had just displayed. The prize distribution for the running race and other events was conducted. Finally the program concluded with the National Anthem.

Friday Morning AssemblyOn 8th Feb 2019, the morning assembly was conducted by Shakti house. To begin the assembly, Rajgopal of Std VII shared a thought with all of us – “Successful people have two things on their lips- Smile and Silence. Smile to solve problems and Silence to avoid problems” . Then Aditya and Sri Lakshmi of Std VIII gave us a quick recap of the happenings around the world the past week. Anuskha of class VIII gave us more information about World Cancer Day, celebrated every year on the fourth of February when awareness is spread and the world’s fear of cancer is reduced. Though we enjoyed the assembly so far, the best had to be awaited for. The event which instantly brought smiles to all our faces was the last one – farewell speeches of our friends from Std XII. Though they would move to shape a life of their own away from us, they reminded us that they never truly will leave us.

SPORTS DAY

SSRVM North organized sports day on 09th Feb 2019, Saturday for the pre-primary students. The programme began with the lighting of lamp along with school prayer followed by a welcome speech. The theme carried by them was “MUSKAAN”. The students marched towards the success promising to become true leaders with the right spirit and positive attitude.Students of PP1 mesmerized the audience with their display by carrying the message on their tiny shoulders, “Healthy body, healthy mind” apt for present generation. Students of PP-2 flooded the ground as the messengers of peace with vibrant red and green colours holding smiley emojis. Display presented by PP3 students with the colourful dupattas was outstanding. Colours in nature are our responsibility and it is our duty to protect them.The programme concluded by awarding medals to the class winners for their sports event and rendition of the National Anthem. It was a wonderful day with a horde of surprises.

Ratha Saptami

RathaSaptami is an auspicious day on the seventh day (saptami) in the bright half of the month of Maagha. On this special day the students of Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir from Std III to VII offered their prayers to Sun God by doing group Surya Namaskar with great enthusiasm followed by meditation. The students were addressed by the Principal Mrs. Mamatha Raviprakash about the importance of RathaSaptami. The student tooks part actively and were benefited mentally and physically which enhanced their health, increased strength and flexibility.

All of us are aware about the fact that youths are the building blocks of a nation. It is a fact that the stronger the youth, the more developed the nation will be. If the youth is not in the right direction and is unconcerned about their own future, it will become a burden for the nation. There are many factors that influence the youngsters there days. Drug abuse is one such menace which is ruining the younger generation nowadays.To address this important issue, on 19th Feb 2019, the nation witnessed the biggest event led by H.H. Sri Sri Ravishankarji and a few other celebrities that helped over one crore youths

to pledge against the use of drugs. Our school students also were a part of this largest campaign that was launched at Chandigarh University.The launch was live streamed across 12,000 institutions in India and reportedly over one crore students from across the nation took the pledge to fight against the use of drugs.

Co-Curricular Activity: Best out of wasteDate- 15th Feb 2019 | Std III to V

We at SSRVM, Bangalore north have always encouraged students in activity based learning. The CCA topic on 15/02/2019 was ‘Best out of waste’. Students took part enthusiastically and came up with excellent pieces like cloth bags, piggy banks, photo frames, table and baskets using coconut shells. The pieces were not only creative but also eye-catching.Choosing the three masterpieces was a difficult task for the teachers.

Friday Assembly

To commiserate and honour the birth of this great personality, Ashika of Std VIIA spoke a few words about her and Hemika, Shriya and Sanskriti recited the poem ‘Palanquin Bearers’.This week’s assembly was interesting and informative. The props used for the assembly was designed by Sri Lakshmi and Nidhi.

On 15th Feb 2019 Friday morning assembly was conducted by the Yukti house students of Std VII.13th February marks the birth anniversary of Smt. Sarojini Naidu, the first women governor of India who was also bestowed the title ‘The Nightingale of India’. Her contributions in the field of literature as a poetess has made her and our country world famous.

Co- Curricular Activity: Show and Tell

This competition helped them to think critically and out of box. They portrayed their innovative expression of thoughts about the things they had brought. Each child was encouraged and applauded for their participation.
