HOUSING & DINING PROGRAMS Room Selection Process Information Students who submitted a housing application should have received an email with their lottery number. This lottery email and number is your ticket to participate in the Room Selection Process. Pages 10 and 11 of the Room Selection Guide will assist you in determining what date and time you should arrive to select your room for 2013-2014. If you are selecting with a roommate or a group, and one of you is unable to be present to select, please designate a proxy online in advance. Should you have any questions about this process, please email [email protected] or call (202)885-3370. We invite you also to join us for the Housing Lottery Information Session, Tuesday, February 12 at 5pm in the Letts Formal Lounge to ask any questions you might have. Please note there is no obligation to select a room, nor is there any financial penalty if you choose not to participate in the room selection process. If you select a room for the upcoming academic year, you are signing a contract with Housing and Dining Programs for another academic year. If you later decide you do not wish to live on campus, please note that you are subject to termination fees (information on the termination schedule is located in section 10 of the Housing License Agreement).

Living Learning Communities Students interested in a new housing assignment for the spring semester may want to consider either the Social Justice Living Learning Community in Roper Hall or the Health & Wellness Living Learning Community in Clark Hall. Limited spaces are currently available in each community. The Social Justice LLC is designed for students interested in better understanding and practicing social justice. It is an open gender housing community, providing the option for students to live with the roommate with whom they are most comfortable without consideration to the individual's sex, gender, or gender expression. The Health & Wellness LLC is a community designed for students who are interested in living in a community that is committed to a lifestyle without the influence of alcohol and other drugs. Residents will be able to participate in a variety of educational and social activities focusing on healthy living. Both communities are open to both new and returning students of all majors. Additional information can be found online at www.american.edu/ocl/housing/llc.cfm.
