Adult Learning is holding Zumba® for kids!! Zumbatomic® for ages 4-7 (parents required to stay) and Zumbatomic®

for ages 8-12, begins on Saturday, February 23, 2013. $25 for ages 4-7 for 4 classes. $30 for ages 8-12 for 4 clas-

Cake Decorating for beginners starts on Thursday, March 7, 2013 and runs for 4-weeks. $50 for 4 classes.

Personal Self Defense is a 3-hour class geared toward avoidance and prevention of being a victim. It is on Saturday, April 13,

Upcoming Events at the Vulcan Library

We are having a Valentine’s Contest…. Bring us a handmade Valentine which we will use to help decorate the library. Make sure you write your name on the back of the card and you will be entered in a draw for a special Valentine Treat from The Sugar Shack!

Internet Café – In partnership with Rainbow Literacy we will be running computer sessions for seniors once again. These are free and will start Wednesday, March 6 at 10 a.m. at the library. No computer experience is necessary.

A “Certificate of Title” or “C.O.T.” as it is called is one of the most important documents that a home or business owner should

be aware of and understand its purpose.

A C.O.T. is a formal document that is registered by Alberta Land titles. This document explains everything about the type of prop-

erty, legal description, civic address (optional on the form), size of the property, registered plan number and date that the site

was registered.

Most owners do not know or are not aware of a C.O.T. at the time of their purchase as they are too overwhelmed in the excite-

ment of owning a home or business property when the document is being explained by their lawyer. Some lawyers fail to review

with new owners the importance of the C.O.T. and what is on the document.

On the title will be the registered name(s) of the owner(s) as how it is registered by the lawyer. The name can be very important

as if a name does not coincide with say your birth certificate, major issues can occur when attempting to sell or remove your

name from the property or take the property over.

The rest of the form will contain what is called ‘instrument numbers.’ These are recorded numbers with Land titles and are

attached to other documents such as easements, right-of-ways, or caveats that are registered to the property. What will only

show on the C.O.T. will be the instrument number, whom it is registered to, type of instrument (i.e. easement, caveat, etc.), and

the date it was registered.

At the end of the form will be the official seal of the province of Alberta and the date the C.O.T. was printed out. NOTE, a certifi-

cate of title is good for only 30 days! After which another title will have to be applied for.

Most titles will be accompanied by a plan or drawing called a “Real Property Report” or “RPR”.

You can also get a copy of a C.O.T. prior to your purchase of the property. These are available to the public at any time and can

give a brief history of the property as to what is registered to the site. It can also give information as to prior issues if there are

any, such as caveats placed on the land.

So if you ever wonder how and what easements, right-of-ways, caveats, are on your property and if all information is correct, it

would be a wise decision to go to your nearest registries office and purchase a copy of your Certificate of Title so you know what

is disclosed on your land.

Jan 16 – Feb 13: Wednesday Youth Nights @ V.P.E. Youth nights are back at V.P.E. on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm. So come on out for FREE fun and games for ages 8+. We’ll be playing dodge ball, basketball and other active games, don’t miss out!

Jan and Feb: CCHS Movie Nights – Call FCSS for details 485-2192 Want to beat the winter blues? Then join us for a fun family movie night with a price that can’t be beat! The movie will be showing at 6:30pm for a cost of $2 for children, $3 for adults and the concession will be open for purchasing snacks. See you there!

Feb 5 to Mar 28 Early Moring Walking @ the CRC beginning at 6:30am -7:30 am. Come walk in a safe environment during winter. Free for all.

Feb 8: Star Gazing @ the Trek Center Have your horizons broadened by the members of Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and Calgary and Vulcan Tourism and Trek Station with their FREE info session and outdoor stargazing which starts at 7:30 pm. Star Gazing happens every second Friday of each month @ 7:30pm weather permitting.

Feb 16: Steve Pineo for the Vulcan and District Concert Series 2013 Be ready to listen to the musical styling of this Calgary based artist with $20 tickets available at the Town of Vulcan Recreation Office or Market Street Foods. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:00pm at the Vulcan Lodge Hall.

Feb 18: Family Night @ the Arena Pop in to the arena for FREE Public Skate from 3-4:15 & 6:16-7:15pm. Bring your family out and enjoy a FREE hot chocolate!

Feb 18-22: No School

Mar 8: Vulcan Skate Club Annual Carnival. Open to everyone come and enjoy the showcase of talented skaters.

Mar 22 Tim Williams for the Vulcan and District Concert Series 2013 Tim was our very first performer of the Vulcan Concert Series and he is back to entertain us. If you missed him the first time around you don’t want to miss him this time he is pure entertainment. $20 tickets available at the Town of Vulcan Recreation Office or Market Street Foods. Doors and concession open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:00pm at the Vulcan Lodge Hall.

Mar 29: Vulcan United Church Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Hop right down to Memorial Park for a great time hunting easter eggs. All the fun starts at 1:30pm with registration and hunt begins at 2pm sharp.
