Dear Ladies Auxiliary,

Happy New Year Ladies - Here's wishing 2016 will fill your hearts with gratitude, peace, love, hope and happiness. Thank you Antonio Lucero for starting the New Year with a great dinner and dance, it was a great party. Everyone seemed to have had a good time, eating, drinking, dancing, and enjoying each others company.

I want to thank all the ladies who helped with the Bronco basket, we made a little over $200. I know it's not easy to get out there in high heals to solicit for a drawing, thank you ladies, you rock. I really appreciate your hard work, dedication and commitment.

In January the Daughters of St. Monica and the Knights of Columbus celebrated the Epiphany with the Religious Ed. program. Frieda Diaz, Brooke Albany and myself delivered gifts to the stu-dents. We gave a little history about the Three Wiseman, gold, frankincense and myrrh, this was well received. Thanks Brooke for coordinating the event, you and Frieda are awesome.

January 30th, we hosted a luncheon for the wives of men who are making their major degrees. The afternoon began with lunch and an ice-breaker of saint trivia. We watched the Devine Mercy mov-ie, then passed the time away by playing a game. Some of the ladies went to confession, then all of us ended up celebrating mass together. I enjoyed spending the afternoon meeting other women and fellowshipping with the Daughters of St. Monica.

Lent is just around the corner, I look forward to seeing you at the Friday night fish fry's. There will be plenty of desserts for people with a sweet tooth and didn't give up sweets for lent.

Sincerely Serving, Laura Lucero President

"This one thing I ask of you, that wherever you may be, you will always remember me at the Alter of God." -St. Monica

Ladies Auxiliary of the Brighton - Knights of Columbus Council #3285

Hello Sir Knights of the Brighton Assembly,

YEAR OF MERCY:

The manifestation of the Son of God on

earth marks the beginning of the great time

of mercy, after sin had closed the heavens,

raising itself as a barrier between the hu-

man being and his creator. With the birth of

Jesus the heavens open! God gives us in

Christ the guarantee of an indestructible

love. From the moment the Word became

flesh it is therefore possible for the shep-

herds of Bethlehem, for the Magi of the

East, for the Baptist, for Jesus’ Apostles,

and for St. Stephen, the first martyr, who

exclaimed: ‘Behold, I see the heavens

opened!’ (Acts 7:56). And it is possible for

each one of us, if we allow ourselves to be

suffused with God’s love, which is given to

us for the first time in Baptism by means of

the Holy Spirit. Let us allow ourselves to be

invaded by God’s love! This is the great

time of mercy! Do not forget it: this is the

great time of Mercy!

-Pope Francis

PLEASE PLAN ON BEING AT THE HALL AT 7:00

PM for the next meeting. We are continuing a new

tradition and will be saying the rosary before the

meeting begins.

Vivat Jesus,

Dorgan Trostel

Brother Knights Updates

Have you had a major milestone? Are you about to do something fun or unusual? Want to share it with your Brother Knights? Do you know a Brother Knight that has done something for the council or community? Let me know, and I can put it in the newsletter so we can all share and get to know our Brothers better.

Email: [email protected]

In today’s digital age, there are a lot of new tools, apps, podcasts and websites that we can use. If you

use one or more that you would like to share, please let me know, and I can put it into the newsletter.

Laudate This is a free app available for iOS, Android and Kindle Fire. This app

included a lot of features, and is a great first Catholic app for your Smartphone. It in-

cludes the daily mass readings, various readings, Catechism, a confession app, Stations

of the Cross, prayers and a lot more.

www.thecatholicdirectory.com has a website and has apps for both the iPhone and Android with mass

times. I have used the app many times to find a local mass when traveling. It has proven to be a

great help.
