New Flight Destinations From the Bozeman Airport

American Airlines has announced that they will offer non-stop, seasonal flights from Dallas/Fort Worth Inter-national Airport (DFW) to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) beginning June 2, 2016. DFW is American Airlines’ largest hub with connections to over 200 destinations in over 26 countries. The seasonal American Airlines flights from DFW to BZN will start on June 2 and end in October for the summer season, and will start again on December 15 and end in April for the winter season. With this expanded seasonal ser-vice, American Airlines joins other major carriers like Delta, United, Alaska, Allegiant, and Frontier which already have year round and seasonal flights to BZN. The addition of the Dallas/Fort Worth destination to the line-up means that Bozeman now offers non-stop service to 15 destinations in 13 states scattered across the country. Whether guests are flying direct or making a connection, they can fly non-stop to Bozeman, Montana, from Seattle/Tacoma, Portland, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver, Dal-las/Fort Worth, Houston, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Chicago, Atlanta, Newark Liberty, and New York’s La Guar-dia. The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is the 8th busiest airport in the Northwestern US. In 2015, BZN hosted 1,021,155 passengers - a record for both Bozeman and Montana. Since 2010, the number of passengers has increased by over 40%. Reliable air travel to BZN is putting the outdoor hub of Southwest Montana on the map.

Thank You As a former Gardiner Chamber board member who served from 2012-2015, I would like to take this oppor-tunity to say Thank You to Chamber Executive Director, Barbara Shesky, for her commitment to this great town of Gardiner. It was a pleasure to work with Barbara on many important projects that have benefited the town, its residents, and businesses. Barbara’s commitment to accurately following complicated county, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to the many aspects of her duties should be commended. Her integrity and honesty are admirable and it’s apparent that she truly cares about her job and this town that hosts over 750,000 visitors per year. This position requires someone who possesses a high ethical standard, minute attention to detail, and can han-dle the many demands and duties simultaneously and effectively. Barbara exceeds these expectations and the Chamber has greatly benefited from her great work ethic. For any business or organization to be successful, it take positive teamwork and committed staff members. During my term, it was very apparent that the board members and staff of the Gardiner Chamber of Commerce care about this community and that is something I truly admire. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve, learn and work with such a wonderful group of individuals. I wish Barbara and the rest of the board only the best as they continue with their hard work for the betterment and support of the community and its businesses. Jean Modesette

Yellowstone Recruiting for 2016 Youth Conservation Corps Program

How would you like to help Yellowstone celebrate the Centennial of the National Park Service while you work, learn, play, and serve in the world’s first national park? Yellowstone National Park is currently recruiting for the 2016 Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program, a residential work-based education program for young men and women between the ages of 15 and 18. The program is designed to develop an appreciation for the nation's natural resources and heritage through unique educational, recreational, and work experiences. Yellowstone recruits youth from all social, economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds for the YCC program. Corps members work together under adult leadership to complete conservation projects such as rehabilitation of trails, campground restoration, and a wide variety of resource management, visitor support services, and maintenance projects. Participants and staff develop their job and leadership skills while further exploring personal values, gaining self-esteem, expanding their awareness of work ethics, and learning firsthand about environmental and conservation issues. Corps members will also participate in evening and weekend recreational activities and discover the many options for careers in the National Park Service and other land management agencies. Yellowstone will offer two, month-long YCC sessions, June 12 to July 13, and July 17 to August 17. Sixty youth will be selected from across the country to participate in the program. No previous wilderness experience is required, but a willingness and ability to work in a physically active outdoor program, getting along well with others, and maintaining a positive attitude are essential for success. Participants will be required to live on location, and room and board will be provided at a minimal cost. Wages will be set at the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. Applicants must be citizens of the United States and be 15 years of age by June 12, but not over 18 years of age by August 17. For further information and application materials visit www.nps.gov/yell/parkmgmt/yccjobs.htm. Questions may be directed to the park's YCC Program Manager at (307) 344-2256. Completed application materials must be received no later than March 1, 2016. The Yellowstone YCC Program is funded by park entrance fees and the Yellowstone Park Foundation.

DEQ Accepting Comments on Scope of Crevice Mine Study Exploration license for potential gold mining project near Gardiner in Park County

Helena — Crevice Mining Group, LLC has submitted an application to the Montana Department of Environmental Quality for an exploration license to investigate the potential for a gold mining project on private property located northeast of Gardiner in Park County.

DEQ is accepting comments on the scope of an Environmental Analysis (EA) for the proposed project. The application also proposes the construction of the first 200 feet of an exploration adit. The explora-tion application can be accessed at DEQ’s website at: http://deq.mt.gov/Land/Hardrock. The 30-day comment period began on February 3, 2016. Comments on the application may be submitted electronically using the DEQ Public Comment Portal at: http://svc.mt.gov/deq/publiccomment/.
