So we're going on a summer holiday, To make our dreams come true…..” Cliff Richard What beautiful sunny weather we are still having! It was great to spend some of the holidays with family from afar, and we made lots of memories. It would be lovely never to have any worries, but unfortunately that is not reality or Life. I was planning on going for many more walks, but my feet and back are not co- operating as I would like them to. Just before Christmas we managed to put another 14 Emergency Care Packs together with most of the donations from a country school who heard what we were doing and wanted to help. How awesome is that! Only a very few tickets left for the High Tea (if any when this goes to publishing….) It promises to be a delightful afternoon with lovely exquisite afternoon tea and delightful entertainment. There will also be some musical sounds coming from ‘The Lake’ just before 4. Conference will be upon us before we know. There are still spaces available and Wellington is promising us a good time. If you are thinking about it, take the leap and go for it! International president elect, Kathy Folley, might be visiting us the week prior to conference. Recently I went to see ‘Little Women’ at Hawera Cinema 2 and thoroughly enjoyed it. In the next few months, ‘Emma ’, ‘The secret Garden’ and ‘Love Sarah’ looks quite appealing. I have read a variety of books over the last few weeks, and on the side I’m also busy with another Chicken Soup for the Soul: Random Acts of Kindness. Very inspiring and encouraging to make me do little things that might even seem like nothing. On the home front, our family and extended family are getting use to Mum being in full time care. It is the best for her (and dad), but still, so not easy. Little Noah is now over 2 months and smiling and interacting with us. The cutest age! Still a little cuddle bug though. The other 2 munchkins are great with him and also growing up fast. May we go forth with high ideals to greet our fellow man, be true to all Altrusa aims until we meet again. “It is the one thing you can control. From the Editor

Hello readers, welcome to February 2020! December and January flew straight past me I think! Except

for the public holidays I worked through Christmas and New Year. It was hard not to be with our

children and grandchildren at this time but it was wonderful to finally catch up early in the New Year.

We were so happy that all our family were able to meet up in Tauranga to celebrate our eldest grand

daughter’s birthday and also the news of another grandbaby later this year.

At Altrusa, Hawera we have another big year ahead of us with the High Tea in February which is

gathering quite a reputation out there as one of the best, the Conference in Wellington, the Presidents

Project, as well as all our usual activities to support our community.

Please continue to send me your pictures and stories so they can be shared in Nexus, and also if you have

any tips, recipes or ideas that we may find interesting or helpful. There is always printing space and after

all this is YOUR newsletter.

From the District Fifteen Website Have you ever just clicked on the District Fifteen Website and browsed? If you select the Clubs option, and then choose a club and scroll to the bottom of the page you will find their latest newsletter. These newsletters are not only packed with news but also with ideas for fundraising, inspiration, motivation and just general sharing. They are not all published monthly, and are all very unique in their presentation and I believe they are done with genuine pride in what their club achieves and how it serves their community. (I know ours is!!)
