INTRODUCTION

Year after year, APPPEXPO in Shanghai has proven to be the biggest expo in the world. Each year it is packed with new brands, new machines, new technologies, and new trends. It is the perfect place to find either brands that have been on the market for a while or many new brands.

Among the years we have seen tons of variety of signage that goes from the ones that are considered more traditional to more innovative ones.

Traditional signage is still being produced and used all over the world, but 3D printing, LED signage, thermoformed pieces, inflatables are some of the variety of innovative found at the show.

INFLATABLES

Huge inflatables were exhibited at the show; most of them are aimed at children events or outside marketing at a business entrance. But the truth is that they are notable from almost anywhere so it’s a nice eye catching strategy for signage.

LED SIGNAGE

The typical LED lettering and other shaped signage are still been used around the world. CARREY and REPSN had a lot of it on their booths.

BILLBOARDS

This is the best example of traditional signage vs. innovative. On top, there is a huge LED billboard with some lettering; at the bottom you can observe also a huge billboard. The glass display is something that could be considered unexpected and a nice way of advertising something in movement.

3D LED SIGNAGE

There is always the traditional ways of advertising but having little details can make a difference.

The top image shows 3D printed shapes illuminated from the back with LED lights. The bottom one is made with flexible LED lights.

These little pieces combined with LED lights could be a nice touch for a logo or a symbol.

ILLUMINATED TEXTILE BOXES

LED boxes combined either with a wide range of colors of ever with just one can be very catchy and it’s a different way of advertising that allows you to combine a 3D structure with 2D textile printing. Another plus is that you don’t have to stick with a box because you can create your own shape and light it up with a cool image. These are easy to transport since you can fold and pack them compactly, plus they weight less than other types of signage.

NEON LED

Neon lights are still used by many different brands; the versatility of using thing LED strips is that you can create your own design. Even combining colors and shapes like in the image on the right.

UN-EXPECTED SHAPED SIGNAGE

Signage is very changeable and volatile and the best thing is that you can combine different techniques, materials, colors and technologies. For example using acrylic boards like in these images, and combined with LED, or a thermoformed shape, could make a great way for signage.

3D PRINTING

3D printing is always present at the expos. The best thing about it is that little by little finishes and new techniques have be launched and many brands are improving their game, that’s why 3D has become more and more used for brands for mass printing.

And of course Massivit 1800 Pro was exhibited at the expo making an impact with its huge 3D printing samples. 3D printing is definitively rising up and becoming so much more popular nowadays.
