PROGRESSIVE BY NATURE SAFETY BY DESIGN Many  in  agriculture  know  someone  whose  life  has  been  affected  by  a  farm‐related  injury  or  death.  The

sta s cs are sobering. Even more  tragic  is  that  these  incidents could have been prevented with a  few simple safety precau ons. That's why the Progressive Agriculture Founda on® is on a crusade to bring safety and health informa on to the farming communi es who desperately need it.

This educa onal program provides training and resources for local communi es to conduct one‐day safety and health programs. Each  year Hardin County puts on  a  two day program with  approximately 250‐ 4th  grade  students a ending each day.   Par cipants spend a day learning about various safety precau ons in their home and community in addi on to receiving a t‐shirt and goody bag full of resource material.    The mission of the Progressive Agriculture Safety Days is simple – to provide educa on, training and resources to make farm, ranch and rural life safer and healthier for children and their communi es.  If you would like to help fund the program which has reached over 1.6 million children and adults please visit www.progressiveag.org to donate $13 which is all it takes to send another child to a Safety Day program.  It is the SAFEST investment you will ever make!

4-H THANK YOU

A special THANK YOU to the family of Rylee Marie Razon, who recently made a monetary donation to the Hardin County 4-H Horse and Summer Camp Program in her honor. Rylee, a student at Central Hardin High School, passed away in an automobile accident on July 1, 2017 on the Bluegrass Parkway. She is pictured with a horse named “Feather” which was the beginning of her 4-H career near Lansing, Michigan. With her dad in the military, Rylee and her family left North Carolina and moved to KY in 2016. While in North Carolina her love for horses grew as she spent much of her time trail riding. As with most teens it was hard to leave her friends in North Carolina, but she was beginning to make new friends and looking forward to riding new trails with Feather. As we embark on a NEW YEAR we must remember how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken away.
