Happy February KMC,
I find myself excited to start finalizing my time off requests for the upcoming riding season. I have been so busy
that I hadn’t realized it was sneaking up. With very near travel plans (Missouri) I was curious about the weather.
To my surprise the northern part of Missouri is going to be in the 50’s. No winter jacket for this lady. This got me
thinking about us being in the last stretch of January and it seems quite mild. Of course I had to check our
extended forecast. With the exception of one day it’s looking pretty good. We’ll know in a few days if we should
expect an early riding season or more time to dream about riding. National Ground Hog day is Tuesday, February
2nd
. Let’s hope Punxsutawney Phil (Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania) doesn’t see his shadow. Phil is about 127
years old….just kidding, the average ground hog only lives 6-8 years. Phil has been predicting the arrival of spring
since about 1886, or so (internet research dates vary). However, it appears his accuracy rate is only 39%, higher
than most weather forecaster’s. Had to throw that out there.
If you haven’t already heard, entrance to the Harley Museum is free for HOG members. And, they have some
great events coming up in the near future. Check out the new racing exhibits on Thursday, February 4th
and their
Winter Blues Bike Night on Thursday, February 18th
. Mama Tried Pre-Party is also taking place on Friday,
February19th. Absolute must on your winter calendar is the Cajun Cook Off at Hal’s on Saturday, February 6th
.
Join Hal’s employees as they cook off to earn your vote. Starts at 11am until the culinary masterpieces last. Right
around the corner from the cook off is the bus trip to the IMS show in Chicago. Contact the store if you are
interested in going; there are limited spots remaining.
Just a few additional reminders, don’t wait to renew your membership. Even if you are a life member, we are still
required to collect a waiver form from you. For your convenience, the waiver form can be printed from our website
under “Membership” (www.kmchog.com). FYI - HOG membership is different than your chapter membership.
HOG membership renews on your enrollment anniversary and KMC membership expires every December with
renewal due by January 1st. Any questions, please reach out to Cheryl Huebner, Membership Coordinator.

Ride Plan 2016
“History in the Hills,” June 17-23rd
Many of you are already planning your next great adventure. Before you get too deep into your calendar let me introduce you to a ride that
for many may be under the radar, “History in the Hills,” June 17-23rd
.
Several chapter members have participated in RUSH (Riding Ultimate Scenic Highways) Rides the past few years including the “Lake &
Lobsters” ride out to the east coast last year or down the Mississippi river in stages the previous year’s. These are well planned rides with
scenic stops, organized group gatherings and the flexibility to take side trips and ride with friends and these annual events are growing in
popularity. Essentially a riding HOG rally organized by talented folks working independently but in coordination with national HOG. This
year the ride will tour some of the countries oldest historic sites from Gettysburg, PA to Natural Bridge, VA and Hendersonville, NC. You will
see some of the most incredible views traveling down the Appalachian back roads. There are several ways to learn more if you are
interested. Ask around at the next chapter meeting, you’re sure to find someone who has been on an earlier ride. For more of a flavor of the
group and what you might expect check out them out on facebook and check out RUSH’s all new website www.rushllc.org Here you can
register for this years ride and get all the particulars.
Discover Wisconsin – 2016 Dates May 22, 2016 June 10-12, 2016 The Discover Wisconsin Committee has finalized the first
two rides for 2016. The first is a one day ride on Sunday,
May 22. We will be riding the Rustic Roads in Racine and
Walworth counties. This ride will take in the beauty of
southeastern Wisconsin. Completing this ride will qualify
the rider and passenger for the DOT Rustic Roads patch.
The second ride will have us staying two nights in Eagle
River the weekend of Friday, June 10 through Sunday,
June 12. The committee has rides and activities planned
that will provide you with a fun-filled weekend in the north
woods.
Registrations for both rides will be available at the February
3rd
KMC meeting. Visit us at the Discover Wisconsin table
at the back of the room.

“RUN TO THE WALL”
MAY 26 –MAY 31 2016
As most know by now I am planning to finally make my run to visit the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Memorial Day weekend 2016.
After meeting with the Milwaukee Rolling Thunder Chapter in December and talking with some of their officers I have decided to accompany them on their “Run to the Wall”. Their experience and infrastructure allows us not to “re-invent the wheel” so to speak; so it should be an awesome experience. If you would like more information on Rolling Thunder and the local chapter you can visit their website at www.rollingthunderwis2.org/
This is an event I have heard much about over the years and has been on my “bucket list” for sometime and have decided now is the time for me to go. I know many of you in the chapter have done this before and have enjoyed the trip/experience immensely. I can’t wait to go and hope that many of you have already decided to go as well. I gave the information of those who signed up at the January meeting to
the folks from Rolling Thunder and you should have received their e-
mail with the ride hotels and information. I will be sending out details in
another email later this month in preparation for our ride.
If you have any general questions not answered let me know and I will
find out for you. If you didn’t sign up last month and still have an interest
see me at the meeting or send me an email and I will get you the info for
our ride!

Have your renewed your 2016 KMC membership? If not, please renew so there is no interruption in receiving your KMC newsletter...
Chapter dues renew annually from January through December but will be accepted as early as October. You can renew at chapter meetings or with Pat Clark at Hals. If you are unsure whether you’ve renewed your membership you can see me at the next chapter meeting or email me at [email protected]
For those of you who are KMC Lifer’s under the original program you will maintain your KMC membership however, we do need a new waiver of liability signed each year. With each year our right
to exist and qualify for insurance protection required and subsidized by the annual charter granted by Harley-Davidson Motor Co and Harley Owners Group requires that all members sign a current waiver. Why can’t we use last years? Because our charter is renewed each new year and a previous years waiver is dated. My apologizes, to any lifetime KMC member who wishes to keep their membership active but never received this explanation before. For those wondering what a KMC Lifetime member is let me explain. For many years Kettle Moraine offered a lifetime chapter membership option. There were special criteria and it complimented the national organizations lifetime membership option. At the height of the offering we had 169 members qualify and elect to exercise the lifetime chapter membership option. At the urging of the national organization KMC discontinued that option many years ago and it is no longer available.
Cheryl Huebner Membership Coordinator
"Chapter of the Stars"
We are super proud of the activities that KMC offers our
members (and beyond), and want to thank all of the
members that supported the chapter/dealer this past year
through volunteering for our events/rides. You are amazing!
As the 2016 calendar starts to fill up with rides and events,
we would encourage you to support some of the events by
volunteering your time. It is a great way to support the
success of the chapter/dealership, as well as gives the
opportunity to network and connect with many different
members.
There are varied ways you can contribute - choose from
collecting waivers, selling 50/50, tending bar, highway clean-
up, or even joining a committee! if you are new to the
chapter/volunteering, let us know and we will pair you with
other members to learn the ropes.
As you know we reward volunteer hours with our KMC star
patch. It is a proud moment when members from other
chapters ask the meaning behind the patch and compliment
us on how they look on the vests/jackets. If you haven't
started earning the patches - it's time! Additionally, at the
beginning of each year we celebrate the members that have
volunteered often with challenge coins! Look for this at our
next meeting!
If you want to learn more about how to earn the star patch
or the challenge coin just ask a board member.
Again, thanks to all that give their time to the chapter/dealer
events. This is truly what makes KMC stand apart from
other chapters!

Ladies of Harley – Next Meeting
Wednesday, February 17th
Hal’s Harley Davidson
SPECIAL TIME
5:30 p.m.
The dealership has shorter winter hours. If you are coming and
arrive AFTER they are closed, you will need to call or text one of us
to let you in the side door by the service department. Our contact
info is on the KMC web page.
This will be a meeting with the added fun of a fondue party. If you
have signed up to bring something and need to check what that
item was – stop by the LOH table at the chapter meeting. If you
haven’t attended a meeting before or signed up yet…..you guessed
it – STOP BY THE LOH TABLE at the chapter meeting. We have
lots of goodies planned.
Our March and April meetings will again be at the New Berlin Ale
House. We will be making a tool case from old blue jeans and
“blinging” our gear in March. April will have us all “bent” and
stretched INTO shape as there will be a special guest teaching us
Modified Resistance Yoga. Our very own Brenda Coartney’s
daughter Amber is coming to instruct us in this yoga technique.
There will be an AT WILL donation for our local Epilepsy
Foundation. These are both looking to be informational and fun
meetings with perhaps some shenanigans taking place.
Mark your calendars Ladies! May 7th
is International Female Ride
Day 2016! We will be having more information at the upcoming
meetings about the local ride and activities being planned for this
day.
The annual KMC Ladies Ride is in the ever-important planning
stages. It is set for June 24th
-26th
. We will be going up to the
LaCrosse area. ALL LADIES ARE WELCOME AND INCLUDED!
You do NOT have to ride your bike; cars are welcome and actually
come in very handy. Anyone interested in helping plan the different
aspects of this weekend are invited to come to the FIRST planning
meeting. It will be held Monday, February 15th
at Hal’s at 5:30 p.m.
If you are UNABLE to attend that day but would like to be on one of
the committees please let Stephanie Hext or me (Debbi Kappler)
know. Some of the committees you may want to be a part of are:
planning the ride (mapping and timing) meal stops and locations,
kick stands down activities and such. After the initial meeting the
“sub” committees will plan their task specific meetings according to
the schedules of the Ladies involved. If you have never planned
anything or you are a pro, this is a fantastic way to learn and make
some really good friends, and have a ton of fun while doing it.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you!
We’d “LOVE” to see you soon, at one of our upcoming meetings.
Debbi Kappler and Stephanie Hext
New Member Corner
It’s time to start thinking about the 2016 riding season. As a new
member, I encourage you to attend one of three group riding
orientations. All the orientations are held at Hal’s. They are scheduled
for May 7 and June 4 at 10:00 AM and on June 16, at 6:00 PM. The
orientations will provide information on how to ride safely in large
groups. KMC has several group rides scheduled for 2016 that may be
of interest you. More details on the orientations will be provided on
Hal’s websites the dates approach.
I hope to meet again with newer members at the upcoming KMC
chapter meetings to answer any questions that you may have since
the last time we met. As a reminder, meetings are held on the first
Wednesday of each month at the New Berlin Ale House.

Join us on the casino party bus….
We are going NORTH!
Hey everybody the KMC 4th
annual Casino Bus weekend is Feb 20-
21- 2016 and we are going north to Island Resort & Casino in Harris
MI. But our destination is just half the fun. We will board a luxury
coach bus equipped with plush high back seats, TVs and a potty in
the rear. We provide beverages and snacks or you may bring your
own. We will depart from Hal’s Harley at 8:30am and enjoy a relaxing
drive north to our first stop….The Packer Hall of Fame! This will be a
self-guided tour of an hour where we will then eat lunch at the 1919
restaurant inside Lambeau field!
We then board the bus and finish our scenic ride to the UP of
Michigan. There we will check in to our comfortable rooms and begin
to “roll in the money”! Everyone will get match play money along
with food and drink discounts to use during our stay. They have live
music Saturday night and a HUGE dance floor to “shake your booty”!
Sunday morning we board the bus and head south to Vandervest
Harley Davidson where they will host our lunch. Their newly renovated
showroom, banquet hall and large motor clothes area is very
impressive. Not to mention they will have some unique items to
purchase with all the money you won in the casino.
We continue our exciting trip home with our treasures from the
weekend and will land back at Hal’s around 4-5pm. SPACE IS
LIMITED……BUT WE STILL HAVE MORE ROOM! This event is
open to ALL KMC MEMEBERS FIRST and if there is room each
member can bring a PARTY GUEST of their choice! What is the cost
you may ask for all of this………..well it is PRICELESS!!!! Yes it is
hard to put a price on all of this fun….. BUT we decided to only
charge $130.00 per person (double occupancy). This includes: bus
ride round trip, beverages & snacks on the bus, Packer Hall of Fame
admission, luxury hotel room and a bag lunch & beverage on
Sunday’s return stop. YES……..WHAT A DEAL!
WE NEED EVERYONE TO REGISTER AND PAY THE MONEY AT
