ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30 p.m.

We will gather in the sanctuary for this annual service

that formally begins our Lent. The service will include

the imposition of ashes and the celebration of Com-

munion by “Intinction.” Please plan to gather with us as

we begin the discernment and discovery that is part of

our Lenten journey with one another. Nursery care

will be available.

ANNUAL ELDER RETREAT IS

SCHEDULED

February 26th – February 27th

Our Eighth Annual Elder Retreat will be held the

last weekend of February. This year we once again

will spend the night in Whitetail Lodge at Camp

Cedar Ridge. In addition to getting to know one

another better and becoming more comfortable

with one another in service to leading our congre-

gation in the year and years ahead, the conversa-

tions during this overnight retreat always centers

on discerning what God has in store for our in-

credible faith community and church family. We

will also spend some time forrmalizing the monthly

events planned for our year-long 150th Anniver-

sary (1866 – 2016)! We will pause as your Ruling

and Teaching Elders to listen for God’s leading as

we strive to strengthen and revitalize current min-

istries and discover new ones! Stop an Elder and

share your thoughts. Let us know where you be-

lieve this incredible congregation is thriving!

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY!!

we will celebrate the past year and look forward to the coming one by convening our Annual Meeting!

In addition to receiving reports from our Session, ministry teams, and church staff, we will hear im-

portant updates on church life including a final financial report for 2015 and updates on the approved

2016 budget. The meeting will conclude our Worship service together on this special morning. Don’t

miss it!!

CDC NEWS

Happy February Everyone! I hope you have all noticed our “Souper Bowl” food

donation boxes filling up over the past couple of weeks. Thanks to those of you

that have put in donated items as well. The children are having a great time watch-

ing their class boxes fill up and hopefully they are learning about the importance of

giving to others through this project. The week after the Super Bowl we will count

the items for each class and decide on the winner of the ice cream party. Stay

tuned in the next newsletter to find out who wins. Some of these items will be

donated to the Oldham County Preschool “Blessings in a Backpack” program and

some will be donated to the Presbyterian Food Pantry. All of the donations are

truly needed and greatly appreciated.

During the month of February we have many fun activities in store and hope that

you might join us for some of them. Chapel will be on Feb. 3 and Feb. 16 at 10am.

This is always a very special time and I really encourage you to come and experi-

ence Chapel with us if you can. The CDC children will also be celebrating Valen-

tine’s Day with their classmates and learning about the importance of dental hy-

giene since February is Dental Health Awareness Month. We have a special visit

from Mr. Magic scheduled on Wednesday, February 17 at 9:15am to talk about how

“Teeth Are Neat.” Finally, we will end the month by celebrating Dr. Seuss week

which is always one of our favorite times here at the CDC.

Just another reminder that if you haven’t signed up for the Kroger Community Re-

wards Program, it’s not too late! Our enrollment number is lower than usual at

this time and I’m afraid that’s due to the re-enrollment that Kroger required last

September. So, if you haven’t already, please go online and enroll your Kroger Plus

Card in the Community Rewards program. Then designate the Pewee Valley Pres-

byterian Church as your Community Rewards recipient. We’ll receive money

simply from you shopping at Kroger. If you have any questions or need any help

getting signed up please call the CDC office at 241-0177 and we’ll be glad to assist

you. Also, encourage your friends and families to sign on for us as well. Last year

we earned a little over $1,500 and that money helps to enrich all of the programs

that we offer the children.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! We love each and every child in our care and

strive to do our best for them each and every day. Thanks to all of you for your

prayers and support!

Sincerely,

Sharon Davis, Director

PVPC AT FRIENDSHIP MANOR

Sunday, February 14th at 2:00 p.m.

At 2:00 p.m. on February 14th – Valentine’s Day – we will lead

the regular Sunday gathering at Friendship Manor. What a won-

derful way to spend a bit of time on this “day of love!” We gather

with the residents there to sing, pray and share a bit of the life

and love of our congregation with them. We end with five or

ten minutes in conversation with them sharing the hope and

faith of PVPC and looking forward to our next visit. If you

have this time open on the 14th, please plan to join us for the

celebration!

Annual Reports

The Chair of each ministry team is responsi-

ble for writing a report for their team to

highlight the events or progress that the

team made in 2015. I have sent out copies

of last years report to the chairs so they can

see what was done last year. If you have not

sent in your report yet please do so.

Thanks—Kathi
