Prestonpans Infant School Newsletter February 2014 This Friday 21 February 2014, we will be fundrais- ing to wipe out Polio in the world. It costs 50p to vaccinate a child from polio. We would invite every child to contribute 50p on Friday and for every 50p donated, we will stamp one of their fingers with purple. This is because when children are vacci- nated, they are stamped with purple dye, to show who has been vaccinated. £1 saves the lives of 2 children. The Pupil Council will count the money and work out how many children we have saved. On the Prestonpans foreshore, there is a famous rock sitting on a rock. It’s called Johnny Moat. Leg- end has it that Prestonpans prospers as long as Johnny Moat stands on its rock. High winds last week led to Johnny Moat toppling off its rock. Tim Porteus, our local storyteller and friend of the school, is hoping to get local folk to get Johnny Moat back on its ledge. We’ll keep you posted. You can read more about this in last week’s East Lothian Courier. We are delighted that 30 families have come forward to take part in the Families and Schools Together Project. Thank you all. FAST will run again in September for another 30 families.

February 2014

This Friday 21 February 2014, we will be fundrais-

ing to wipe out Polio in the world. It costs 50p to

vaccinate a child from polio. We would invite every

child to contribute 50p on Friday and for every 50p

donated, we will stamp one of their fingers with

purple. This is because when children are vacci-

nated, they are stamped with purple dye, to show

who has been vaccinated. £1 saves the lives of 2 children.

The Pupil Council will count the money and work out how many

children we have saved.

On the Prestonpans foreshore,

there is a famous rock sitting on a

rock. It’s called Johnny Moat. Leg-

end has it that Prestonpans prospers

as long as Johnny Moat stands on its

rock. High winds last week led to

Johnny Moat toppling off its rock.

Tim Porteus, our local storyteller

and friend of the school, is hoping to get local folk to get

Johnny Moat back on its ledge. We’ll keep you posted. You

can read more about this in last week’s East Lothian Courier.

We are delighted that 30 families have come forward to take

part in the Families and Schools Together Project. Thank you

all. FAST will run again in September for another 30

families.

What a great day of laughter we enjoyed on

Scotland’s Big Laugh Day. We were one of the

schools that led this in Scotland. Thank you all

for the great effort you

put into dressing up your

children. The staff also

went to so much effort to

dress and behave silly, that we had an

impromptu fashion show at assembly.

We listened to the Laughing Policeman

(Google it!) and the children told us lots

of jokes. We also had a visit from our

MP Fiona O’Donnell and 3 Tanzanian

MPs. They loved the craziness and

were impressed with the active learning

the children were involved in.

There is still time to enter this competition. Designs should

be completed by Friday 28 February.

These will be taken on Wednesday 12 March in the morning.

Please put the date in your diary.

Welcome to Mrs Susan Calderhead as our

Business Support Administrator.

Welcome to Sue Kennelly, our

new Place2Be manager.
