Inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the day brought together non-resident Indians of excellence from across the world as also delegations from various States, providing a platform for interaction be- tween prospective investors and those offering openings for investment. Sri. Vayalar Ravi, Union Cabinet Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs. presided. Prominent NRI industrialists of Kerala origin such as Sri. M.A. Yusuf Ali, Dr. Azad Mooppan, Dr. M. Anirudhan, Dr. Ravi Pillai and Sri. C.K. Menon were among those present. Kerala was one of the prominent par- ticipating States at the event. While Sri. The project is expected to be located in Trivandrum district. The Rs 200-crore project in three phases will be completed within four years. Initially a sum of Rs. 5 crores has been allotted to launch the project. A meeting was conduct- ed by Sri. P.H. Kurian IAS, Principal Secre- tary-Industries & IT dur- ing December, 2013 in Trivandrum, for the finalisation of Detailed Project Report (DPR). APITCO, Hyderabad, KINFRA’s consultants for pre- paring the DPR, made a pre- sentation of its draft. Around 20 experts including the Director of Ayuveda Medical Education, Director of Indian Systems of Medicine, representatives from Health Depart- ment, Planning Board and various research centres and NRHM attended the meeting. Sri. S. Ramnath, Managing Director-KINFRA, Special Officer, Global Ayurveda Village and other officials from KINFRA were also present. “A dozen globally reputed companies that had responded to our call to pre- pare the detailed project report have been shortlisted”, said MD Ramnath. “Two sites have been identified, one in 63.25 acres of land in Ayiroor, Varka- la and the other in 7.48 acres of land in Veiloor village, Thonnakkal, both in Trivandrum district.” It may be recalled that the project was featured during the Emerging Kerala 2012 investor meet, when a Malaysian group has evinced interest in it. The Gobal Ayurveda Village is unique in that it is the first of its kind in ayurvedic health tourism from the government sector in India. The proposal is aimed at global acceptance of ayurveda by the world community at large and to transform Kerala into the world capital of ayurveda. This concept is based on the vision of globalizing the traditional ayurvedic knowledge of Kerala to the world at large. The project aims to create a fully equipped ayurvedic treatment centre to which people from around the World will be attracted for availing the traditional system of ayurvedic treatment, supported and supplemented by modern scientific methods, making use of the expertise of eminent doctors in ayurveda. It is based on incorporating the amenities of most modern scientific developments in all aspects of treat- ment with classical ayurveda. The project will be designed in such a way that it blends the natural habitats of Kerala with ayurvedic tradition in a seamless manner. As the project is on PPP basis, investors will be given the opportunity for promoting health tour- ism. Environment-friendly huts and cottages will be constructed to attract more tourists to the village which will have specific standards to treat the demands of international tourists. All supporting clinical departments will also come up at the village, which will be a one-stop destination for all the available ayurvedic treatments in a modern and scientific environment. The project envisages setting up a fully equipped ayurvedic treatment centre (Centre of Clinical Excellence) to which people from around the world will be attracted. guests included Sri. A Kerala session was held as part of the event with officials and experts from various fields making presentations and responding to queries from the investors. Suresh Babu and CEO-Technopark Sri. K.G. Girish Babu were part of the Kerala delegation. At the Kerala session, officials highlight- ed the investment opportunities offered by the State in diverse areas such as Food & Agro processing, ICT, Tourism, Healthcare Services, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Urban Infrastructure, Ports, Shipping & Logistics and the pleantiful supply of highly skilled work- force to man the ventures. Drishya building in the SEZ unit of KINFRA Film & Video Park, Kazhakoottam, Trivandrum has a new entrant, styled as Altoopa Consulting, a start up that aims to employ the format of video games to bring about positive transforma- tion in the attitude and outlook of people, espe- cially students, who are the leaders-in-waiting for tomorrow’s world. “We are singularly privileged to be operating from KINFRA’s state-of-the-art infotainment facility where its officials give us all help, support and encour- agement to focus on our dream, and to make a success of it”, observes Altoopa’s founder-head Sri. Ajit Balakrishnan. “Play Altoopa, the video game designed by us is certain to influence its users in a positive way and steer them towards success in the missions they undertake. Altoopa moved into Drishya building on December 27, 2013, with a simple ceremony, lighting the lamp to mark the opening. Incubated as a 2 member home office involving Ajit Balakrishnan and Mrs. Sangeetha Ajit, today it is a 12-member operation and aims to help transform the way people interact with each other.
