Long-Haired Drivers
A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minis-ter, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we'll talk about it."
After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could dis-cuss use of the car. They again went to the father's study where his father said, "Son, I've been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut!"
The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know Dad, I've been think-ing about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Je-sus had long hair...." To which his father replied, "Yes, and they WALKED every where they went!"

It is recorded three times in the Gospel of Matthew: ―Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand‖ (3:2; 4:17; 10:7). The presence of Jesus on earth, both before and after his death and resurrection, means that God’s reign is here now. It’s not a matter of waiting for His kingdom to come, it’s about realizing that His kingdom is here now and we are citizens of this kingdom. Regardless of what some say today, God’s kingdom did not come into existence when Jesus began his ministry here on earth (Matt 3). When you look closely at his teachings, you see that Jesus did not teach that the kingdom was about to come, or had recently come, into existence. What He did teach was that there was a new accessibility of the kingdom to humanity through Himself. So even though Jesus commends us to pray, ―Your kingdom come,‖ he does not mean that we are to pray it into existence. What He means is that we are to pray for it to take over at all points in the personal, social, and political order where it is now currently excluded. Hence, ―on earth as it is in heaven.‖ Dallas Willard wrote, “Now God‟s own „kingdom,‟ or „rule,‟ is the range of his effec-tive will, where what he wants done is done.” Heaven is a place where God’s will is always done. However, at least for a limited time, there is an exception to what God wants done here and now on earth. You can say ―no‖ to His reign now. It’s not a complete ―no‖ since He still remains sovereign and everything He wants to bring about, He will bring about. His kingdom is so available that everyone who ―calls upon the name of the Lord‖ will be saved. The kingdom of God is right beside us – among us. You can reach it from your heart with your mouth: “That if you confess with your mouth, „Jesus is Lord,‟ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). God’s kingdom is available to us here and now through sim-ple confidence in Jesus Christ. It is a kingdom that, in the person of Jesus, welcomes you just as you are, and makes it possible for ordinary life to be completely transformed into ―eternal‖ life. His message has not changed: “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” IT’S TIME we live on earth as citizens of heaven, Pastor Bill

Sunday “Specials” Needed We love specials at Calvary! A special is a solo, quartet, duet, ensemble, instru-mental piece, drama presentation, puppet presentation, interpretive movement, monologue, choir presentation, or any other creative method of illustration about truth from God’s Word. We use them on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, and other dates and locations outside Calvary. Every Sunday night we open with a special, have Bible study, and end with a closing song. If you would like to help out by doing a special, please contact Cary Tolar.
Worship Choir Our worship choir has resumed practice! We meet at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons in the worship center or multi- purpose room. Now is a great time for you to join us! Requirements to join: 1) love God 2) love people 3) be faithful to attend rehearsal. On another note, If you would like a video copy of God Coming Down, please provide
an 8 gigabyte flash drive to Cary Tolar, and he will download so you can view on your computer.
Associational Choir Festival Our annual choir festival this year will be 7:00 p.m. March 5th at Cook Baptist Church. This is always a wonderful time of cele-bration and connection with other choirs in our area. If you are not in the choir, I still encourage you to come and enjoy a fabulous time of worship.
God provides Needed Equipment For quite some time we have experienced some challenges with the sound equip-ment in our worship center. Some of our equipment is very old and ―on its last leg.‖ Recently, we have replaced four amplifiers, installed a new sound board and a sound monitor system for the singers and instrumentalists. Even though this new equipment will not completely resolve all issues, we are well on our way to great sound quality in our worship center. God is good!
Overflow in Need of an Adult Helper Our student band is ready to resume leading worship. This group has some talented young people, yet still need an adult leader who is musically gifted and can work well with teen agers. Please contact Cary Tolar if you are interested in helping out.
