Secretary’s Notes
Thank you to those who made it along to the Empress for the AGM on the 19th. There was
an excellent turn out on the evening and having the upstairs room meant we could rattle on
and finish at the respectable time of 9:30 pm
A big thank you once again to Jon Holt for putting together and printing the agenda and
to Pauline Holt for jotting down the minutes.
I am very pleased to report all members holding office agreed to continue in their present
roles for another term and this was duly accepted and recorded. I shall be starting my 4th year
as Secretary (where does the time go)? Linda is treasurer( I’ve forgotten how many years
now).
Malcolm Bailey will continue his work as webmaster, maintaining our excellent website
& Gordon Maxwell will continue with the NFR entry applications. John Anderson with help
from Robin Plumley will continue to produce our monthly newsletter and what a great job with
the first edition.
Linda in her treasurer’s role was able to highlight another healthy bank balance for our
clubs finances. The introduction of an annual subscription was suggested but the present sys-
tem was deemed to be more practical and shall remain. So have your money ready (£1.50 pp)
for our Linda when she comes round on club nights.
I am still determined to produce an up to date I what condition inventory of club equip-
ment but we were unable to proceed any further at the AGM with this matter as Andy (who
stores most of our equipment at his home) was unable to make the meeting. Perhaps when this
list is compiled some of us could get together to determine what condition these items are in
and whether they should be kept or replaced.
The NFR is now gathering pace. For all those with offers of help past and present there
will be a special meeting at the Empress on Tuesday Feb 4th starting at 8.00pm.
All members who feel they would like to contribute are welcome to attend and rather than dis-
cuss Run details now you will all be brought up to date on the night, the meeting will be up-
stairs.
Our popular Mid monthly meetings have now been pencilled in for the following year
thanks to John & Linda (got it right ) Anderson. We will also be arranging more social eve-
nings (skittles, BBQ etc) in the coming months. The idea of a Summer Ball was well received—
watch this space.
With the season approaching I am constantly receiving details of other classic events be-
ing held locally and nationally so for those that don’t make it into the newsletter’s events cal-
endar, I shall provide relevant details on your tables on club nights

Abingdon Museum Fund Run ,Sunday 17th July. Dear Nigel, Great to have made contact with you , and thank you volunteering to organise the MG Museum Fund Run starting from the South West. If it would help I could pick it up as the run approaches Ab-ingdon. The MGOC will require the route details as soon as possible in order to get the road books pre-pared, so when you are ready please send the info to Richard Monks MGOC The reason for the event is as follows; For several years there has been rooms in the Abingdon Municipal Museum dedicated to MG, which I’m sure many of your members will have visited British Heritage has decreed that the Munici-pal Building that houses the museum should undergo vast renovation. A Heritage/Lottery grant has been awarded for £1.75m, Local government has also made grants. But these grants are made on condition that the Museum authorities should contribute similar sums with the result that at this time there is still a shortfall of £200,00. My particular interest is in raising funds for the MG Gallery, as it will become known, which it is esti-mated will be circa £20,000 out of that £200,000 Any funds donated should made out to the Abing-don Museum Friends-MG Gallery such funds will be ring-fenced for that purpose. The MG Museum Fund Run will have four start points from N.S.E&W converging on Abingdon, to park in a pleasant meadow by the River Thames on the A415 road leading out of Abingdon toward Dorchester, an ideal spot for a picnic lunch, alternatively, there are many Pubs, Restaurants, Cafes and Coffee shops in the town close by. The fairly loose time table is to start with the aim of arriving in Abingdon between 12 mid-day and 1pm At 2.30 in the Amey Hall Theatre of the Abingdon School will be a film followed by a talk by Barrie (Whizzo) Williams, a man who has had and still has tremendous experience driving every type of Sports/ Racing car from Minis through MGs to Formula One. He is still one of the busiest drivers at the Goodwood Revival meetings. He has a tremendous sense of humour and an endless fund of hu-morous anecdotes. This will take us up to 4.30-5.00 when you may wend your way home. I hope this gives you an Idea of what it is all about. Good Luck, Brian Moylan

Remember these?
Thanks to Robin for this stop press Idea, this is
the sort of thing I can add as a single item or for
a multi page spread.
Other things discussed at the AGM included making a list of the Clubs equipment as to who
has what ( Plaques, Gazebo's Banners etc) then we will all know where they are when they are
needed for club events. A date of February 8th has been set for the first meeting to plan the
clubs New Forest Run. Instead of the secret Santa it was suggested we all buy items and do-
nate them to local hospital etc.
