An HDTV should be all about the picture, and LG’s best television announced at CES, the LE9500 series of LED-based LCDs, has the design to prove it. This striking, inch-thin panel is nearly all picture when seen from the front, with a bezel that measures just 8.5 millimeters (0.33 inch) from the edge of the picture to the edge of the frame. Packed into that thin panel is the company’s best feature set. The LE9500 is the only TV announced by LG so far to include 3D capability. While all the buzz at the Detroit Auto Show centered on the number of viably production-oriented electric cars, those of us who prefer our transpo with a heaping helping of luxury and performance found much to smile about.

Electricity’s Coming But Power And Luxury Ain’t Dead––YET!Written by Lyndon Conrad Bell

Audi’s 2011 A8 promises to be something to really look forward to. The new big Audi is even larger than the car it replaces, but still lighter than everything else in its class, thanks to aluminum construction. The new A8 is also a technological tour de force featuring Audi’s new generation MMI system, brake energy regeneration and an updated iteration of Audi’s vaunted Quattro all-wheel drive.

Coupling the CTS-V’s 556 horsepower engine with an absolutely fetching coupe profile, the 2011 CTS-V coupe is poised to incinerate BMW M3s, and Audi S5s. Cadillac is back, and while the cars are as luxurious as they ever were, the company’s new

watchwords are “high” and “performance”. Delivering all that power to the rear wheels, just as God intended, the CTS-V coupe’s tag line ought to be, “Smoke ‘em, you got ‘em.”

One of the most eagerly

anticipated cars in the ultra-luxury class is the new Bentley Mulsanne. While it was shown at both Pebble Beach and the L.A. Auto Show, we like it so much we had to mention it again. Seen here with the COO of Bentley Motors, Christophe Georges, the new flagship

Bentley will offer amazing performance, absolutely hedonistic levels of luxury, and presence few other cars can match.

The only electric car at the show that both fit our criteria and is built by a company that

has already introduced a fully electric production car was the Tesla Model S. The long promised follow-up to the Tesla Roadster sports car, the Model S seats seven, has a top speed of 130 mph, accelerates to

60 in under six seconds and (when driven conservatively) can go up to 300 miles on a single charge.

We’ve seen the future and it will be.

The GM Performance Parts HT383 has been specifically engineered for low-rpm torque, and it’s packed with durable parts that are all brand new. It produces 435 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm, but more importantly, it produces more than 400 lb.-ft. of w e i g h t - m o v i n g torque from 2500 rpm all the way up to its 4000 rpm peak. In other words, your trailer’s worth of weekend fun is barely noticeable when hooked to a vehicle equipped with the HT383.

The bottom end has a 383 stroker forged steel crankshaft, heavy-duty rods, and hypereutectic pistons. The block is cast iron

with 4-bolt main caps, and it’s up to the task of making

The brand new HT383 makes a great

Lawyers for the rapper Nelly will be busy defending speeding

tickets if his predictions come true.

Nelly and Jim Farley, vice president of marketing for Ford, showed off Nelly’s custom Mustang GT, which will appear on the cover of his coming album at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.

“I already called my lawyers to get them on deck for more tickets,” Nelly said to the crowd at the Ford stand, around a new Mustang GT 5-liter. The St. Louis native is a car collector, with an impressive collection

of luxury cars. He said he has been waiting for Ford to reproduce the iconic 5.0 engine. When he met with Mr. Farley last year in a visit to the Ford design center, Nelly gave

him his feedback.

“It’s great when you are throwing ideas and the big shots listen,” Nelly said with a charming grin. ”The 5.0 is the epitome of the muscle car

as it should be.”

The custom car was produced by DUB magazine and flaunts suede and leather and two 12-inch subwoofers. Ford is the title sponsor of the DUB Show Tour held during the Charity Preview in the Cobo Center.

“The Mustang hasn’t been promoted in the African-American and Latino cultures and yet it still needs to stay true to its performance heritage, so we gave it that street styling,” said Myles Kovacs, president and co-founder of DUB magazine.

Rapper, actor, reserve police officer, U.S. Deputy Marshall and “BIG TIME” car enthusiast! That same power, passion and enthusiasm that Shaq

The Mercedes Benz S550 is one of the hottest sport sedans on the planet. Sporting a flawless interior and over 600 HP under the hood, the S550 is an automobile made for the red carpet.

Unfortunately, Mercedes Benz has never built a four door convertible. But when it comes to Shaquille O’Neal, and cars, nothing is impossible.

“Sunshine and palm trees are my favorite backdrop,

n O U R C O M M U N I T Y developed by the Howard Hughes Corporation and contains more than a dozen individual neighborhoods. And then there is classic Las Vegas. Some areas are still a little sketchy, but there’s been a migration in recent years to embrace old Vegas. Houses here have more character than anywhere else in town, and there’s a strong sense of community. The beauty of these neighborhoods is not only physical, but also found in their rich history. These areas have seen a renewed interest in recent years with an influx of young professionals along with young families, maintaining a diversity in incomes and ethnicity.

The communities of the Vegas valley are family-friendly and have a diverse mix of white and blue collars (service industry employees and construction workers have salaries in Las Vegas that potentially rival those in suits). These communities are great for families, who can be seen on the many walking trails to and from the local parks, tennis courts and dog parks. Many neighborhoods even have water parks that are remarkably popular with younger kids.

What about the Strip hotels and casinos? Well, that’s where the entertainment is, whether it’s a Broadway

production, (you’ll find some of the best), a movie theater or even a bowling alley. The hotel/casinos are also home to some of the best

restaurants in the world. A little known fact is that these establishments often show favor to the local residents because they love having our business.

And there are some things we just learn to live with, like slot machines. Slot machines are not just a casino phenomena. You can also find them in grocery stores, laundromats

mats, bars, convenience stores, restaurants and more. Oh well, deal with it.

Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, and it’s not just because of gambling. For the residents of the valley who call this place “home”’ it’s also the life off the Strip, the people of our communities that we have come to know and appreciate. That’s what make this place “Fabulous Las Vegas”.

When my family and I decided to move to Las Vegas, the

first comment I heard was “why do you want to move to Sin City?”. I was so taken aback by that question that I couldn’t come up with an answer quick enough to re-spond. After moving to Las Vegas It hit me… there is an-other world beyond the Las Vegas Strip and the locals call it the Las Vegas Valley. It’s amazing that the most famous area of the Valley is only a four-mile strip of land running from the Man-dalay Bay Hotel to the Sa-hara Hotel and Casino. And what’s even more amazing is that this area known as “the world-renowned Las Vegas Strip” is not even within the city limits, but rather it occu-pies an unincorporated area of Clark County.

Now, after living in the valley for the past 5 years, I have a real answer to that question. It’s the life off the Strip that residents really

enjoy. Las Vegas

in Spanish means “The Meadows”. If you stand in the center of the valley and look around, you will find that we are surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains and hills in North America. Residents often use the term “the valley” but it’s actually a basin. I still like the term “valley”. The valley is an area surrounded by the Spring Mountains on the

west, Sheep Mountains to the north, Eldorado Range and Lake Mead to the east, and the Black Mountains to the south. Also in the distance you’ll see parts of Red Rock Canyon-Wilson Cliffs, Blue Diamond Hill, Rainbow Mountain, and Mount Charleston. At 12,000 feet, Mount Charleston can be seen from most places in the valley. It’s just a short drive from Las Vegas and an ideal getaway for a summer hike and a picnic.

“Outsiders” or “Vegas visitors” often wonder whether locals live in the casinos, and in most cases I’ll say no. We live in the beautiful communities that lie in the shadow of the Strip. In 2006, Money magazine recognized Henderson as one of the best places in America to live. Green Valley is a subsection of

Henderson and was the first master-planned community in southern Nevada. It’s known for its parks, walking trails and tree-lined streets.

To the southeast, there’s Anthem. You can’t miss the elaborate waterfall as you approach this community while traveling south on Eastern Avenue. Nestled in the foothills of the Black Mountains, Anthem is made up of a variety of communities, including Anthem Country Club, Anthem Highlands and Madiera Canyon. Summerlin is a beautiful area defined by attractive homes, parks and green spaces. This master-

planned community was
