CURRICULUM, ASSESSMENT, INSTRUCTION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

a. Proposal for The Children’s Home Society to Provide Trenton Education Dance Institute (Revision) BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Proposal for The Children’s Home Society to deliver the Trenton Education Dance Institute (TEDI) at Mott and Robeson Elementary Schools for the period of September 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 at a cost not to exceed $20,000.00 to teach the art and life lessons of dance to students. This is a revision of Board approved Curriculum Item A on the November 11, 2013 agenda, which is needed to reflect the correct name of the vendor and GAAP Codes. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, directs administration to obtain a purchase order and have it provided to the vendor/consultant prior to receiving any goods or services from said vendor/consultant. b. Resolution and Proposal for Professional Development for Select PreK-5 Special Ed Teachers BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution and Proposal for Professional Development for Select PreK-5 Special Ed Teachers for the period February through June 2014 at a cost not to exceed $2,880.00. Learning Language Disability Teachers will meet as part of a committee in an effort to outline focused training to address the unique needs of each teacher’s specific student population. Account Code: 20-275-200-101-0009-14-82

c. Resolution for Professional Development for Office of Early Childhood Staff by Teaching Strategies BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution for Professional Development for Office of Early Childhood Staff by Teaching Strategies at a series of workshops during the period February through May 2014 at a cost not to exceed $40,000.00. Staff will receive on-going embedded training in Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold with a focus on Language Arts/Literacy, as per the Five-Year Preschool Plan.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, directs administration to obtain a purchase order and have it provided to the vendor/consultant prior to receiving any goods or services from said vendor/consultant. d. Resolution to Provide Professional Development to Staff from Non-Priority Schools on Math XL BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution for Professional Development to Staff from Non-Priority Schools on Math XL on February 11, 2014 at no cost to the Board. The PD was originally approved for Math Leaders. So that all schools may have access to the PD, non-priority schools need representation from staff in their building.

e. Proposal for District Wide Marching Band Planning BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Proposal for District Wide Marching Band Planning for the period February 11, 2014 through June 30, 2014 at a cost not to exceed $2,325.24. Six Music Teachers will meet for two hours monthly to discuss and plan the implementation of the marching band program for the 2014-2015 school year. Account Code: 20-275-200-101-0009-14-82

f. Resolution to Approve 2014-2015 Middle School Course Catalog and 2014-2015 High School Course Catalog BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the 2014-2015 Middle School Course Catalog and 2014-2015 High School Course Catalog (Attachments 1-F-1 and 1-F-2)

g. Proposal for District Bilingual/ESL Screening of Incoming Kindergarten Students BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Proposal for District Bilingual/ESL Screening of Incoming Kindergarten Students for the period April 9, 2014 through May 2, 2014 at no cost to the Board. SIOP Intervention and Elementary ESL Teachers will screen preschool students currently attending community preschool provider sites, for the 2014-2015 school year.

WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 18A:19.1 and N.J.S.A.18:6-31 provides for the Board of Education to authorize the payment of bills; and

WHEREAS, the Business Administrator/Board Secretary has reviewed the documentation supporting the attached lists of bills;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, authorize and approve the payment of bills on the attached lists for the Monday, February 10, 2014 Board meeting in the amount of $24,841,570.59. (Attachment 3-B)

c. Out of District Placements – February 2014

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Out of District Placements for February 2014. (Attachment 3-C)

d. Resolution Awarding Transportation Trip Quote – June 18, 2014

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, awards the 2013/2014 Transportation Trip Quote Trip June 18, 2014 to provide transportation for trip to New York City to Motown on Broadway at Luntfontanne Theatre, to the low bidder A-1 Limousine for $2,112.08.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Board President and Business Administrator are authorized and directed to execute said contract on behalf of the Trenton Board of Education. Account: 11-000-270-511-0000-00-65 Funding Period November 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014

e. Joint Transportation Agreement with Burlington County Special Services School District

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the 2013-2014 Contractual Agreement between Trenton Board of Education and Burlington County Special Services School District for the provision of transportation services for students attending schools within the Burlington County area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Board President and Board Secretary are authorized and directed to execute said jointure on behalf of the Trenton Board of Education. f. Professional Services Contract – Learning Plus LLC (Revision)

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution for a Professional Services Contract with Learning Plus LLC for Wilson School for the period of March 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014 and at a cost not to exceed $3,000.00. The program will provide teachers with additional strategies to effectively implement Differentiated Instruction in

the classroom. This is a revision to Board approved Finance Item VV on the December 16, 2013 agenda, which is needed to reflect the correct name of the vendor. Smith to speak at the Hedgepeth-Williams Parental Engagement Celebration on February 28, 2014 for an honorarium of $1,000.00. Mr. Smith, a Trenton native and NJ Statewide President of NAACP, will address students, parents, staff and community members at the Hedgepeth-Williams Parental Engagement Celebration on the importance of “Achieving Despite the Struggle.” BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, directs administration to obtain a purchase order and have it provided to the vendor/consultant prior to receiving any goods or services from said vendor/consultant. BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation for the Superintendent of Schools, authorizes the School Business Administrator/ Purchasing Agent to prepare or have prepared Request for Proposal (RFP) for Prospective Organization to Provide Evaluation Services for the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant (SS/HS) which shall include all items set forth in 18:18A-4.4.
