We currently have 35 residents. Over the year our facility staff has joined in support of families and friends in both happy and sad times as part of the circle of life. We have celebrated the birth of new grandchildren and grieved the loss of loved ones. We like to believe that when a resident moves in they are adopted and our family grows. We like to celebrate occasions often in Babbitt; we have had par- ties for St. Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July, Christ- mas as well as monthly birthday parties with music. Throughout the month of December we also had a Christmas tea, a bell choir perform, a play, a visit from Santa and a group of children from the Tower-Soudan School stop by to sing carols in honor of one of our residents (who was a teacher at their school). At Babbitt CFL we are very fortunate to have a large volunteer base to call upon; they come weekly to play bingo and also to help support our events and activities. We are very grateful for the hydraulic lift the Babbitt Lions Club purchased to help residents remain in the community they lived and worked in. It has been a very busy worthwhile year, we have all been blessed by what we do and have received back more than what we have given. Our first year is now behind us. We’ve been so fortunate since opening January 2013. Right off the bat our census grew rapidly and within the first two weeks we were taking an average of two residents per day. We currently have 35 residents. Over the year our facility staff has joined in support of families and friends in

both happy and sad times as part of the circle of life. We have celebrated the birth of new grandchildren and grieved the loss of loved ones. We like to believe that when a resident moves in they are adopted and our family grows.

We like to celebrate occasions often in Babbitt; we have had par-ties for St. Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July, Christ-mas as well as monthly birthday parties with music. Throughout the month of December we also had a Christmas tea, a bell choir perform, a play, a visit from Santa and a group of children from the Tower-Soudan School stop by to sing carols in honor of one of our residents (who was a teacher at their school).

This purpose is our vision… a vision of what

we want to be, and that is The Very Best!

In order to be the best, we need to hire the

best. As part of our commitment to continuing

education and professional development,

Spectrum has recently announced a partner-

ship with Rasmussen College. This partnership

will allow students to access advanced degrees

at 10% of the tuition cost. In addition,

Spectrum continues to offer a scholarship loan

program for qualified programs and employ-

ees.

As we welcome new employees to our organi-

zation, in Orr or our various housing and home

care settings, please do you part in reinforcing

our mission and values. Each of you plays a

vital role in ensuring we provide the highest

level of customer service to our clients,

families and co-workers.

As an individual or as a team, we are able to

make a difference. I appreciate your contribu-

tions to the organization and to those we serve.

Spectrum’s Core Purpose and Values

When you look at our core purpose and values,

they should look familiar. Each branch, housing

and corporate location has posters of these, as

well as our mission statement. If you work for

Spectrum Health Companies, whether at a home-

care branch, in a Carefree Living site or at a cor-

porate office, you have chosen to work for a

company that wants to be the best. Having em-

ployees who truly believe and are committed to

our core values and mission is key to achieving

our purpose, and future success.

Our purpose is to be known as the best

provider of community-based housing and

health care products and services in Minnesota.

What is the reason of our purpose? Our purpose

tells both those of us inside the organization and

others outside the company, what we wish to

accomplish through our mission. For instance,

part of our mission says we are a client-oriented

provider of quality, affordable housing and

health care products and services. Our purpose

then tells what we wish to accomplish while pro

viding clients with housing and related services.

If You Think … Then Consider …

“I don’t make enough money.”

Tax savings. Your contribution is taken out before taxes, so the amount you pay taxes on is lower.

“I’m too young to worry about it right now; time is on my side.”

The magic of compounding. When you give your money more time to accumulate, the earnings on your investments—and the annual compounding of those earnings—can make a big difference in your final return.

“I’m too old, it’s too late.” It’s never too late. If you’re 50 years old or older, you can contribute a catch-up deferral ($5,500). You still have time to put your money to work for you.

“Stocks, bonds … it’s too confusing!”

There is an easier way! Your plan may have the option to invest your money in a “pre-set” asset allocation or lifestyle model that takes into account your expected retirement date or age. It’s a “set it and forget it” approach and works well for the less sophisticated investor.

“I’ll still have my Social Security.”

Don’t count on it. A dwindling workforce means fewer tax dollars down the road. In just a few years there will be 2 workers per every 1 retiree.

“I just don’t know how to get started.”

Help is available. Understanding how to begin saving for retirement might be overwhelming, but it’s easier than you think. Contact human resources for an enrollment form. Or, contact our retirement plan consultant, Christensen Group, at 952.653.1077 for more information.

ING announced the name prior to May 1, 2013 initial public offering so that we could begin trading under the “VOYA” ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange. This year, ING U.S. conducts its operational rebranding. You will begin to see the new name in the market during the second quarter. Until rebranding starts, ING U.S. will operate with its current name and logo. As we conduct this process, you may see both the ING U.S. and Voya Financial names in use between April and September 2014.
