lub offers a supportive and
riendly atmosphere where

ommunication and
eadership goals. Our club
s proud to have earned
he Select Distinguished
esignation in its very first
ear and we are honored
hat our inaugural president,
Maureen Quinlan, now
erves as Area 73
Governor. We support a
iverse group of members
with all levels of experience.
Some of our more advanced
members have finished
everal programs and are
till striving to attain high-
evel accomplishments.
WWhhyy YYoouurree GGooiinngg ttoo LLoovvee CCoommppeettiittiioonnWhenit comes to public speaking, have you got your groove on? Are you
comfortable in front of a crowd, whether
speaking to a hundred or half dozen? Do
you LOVE the feeling you get when you
and your audience are in synch? Have
you found your groove? If so, then have
you asked yourself where youre going
with your progress toward competent or
advanced communicator? Or are you
stuck in a rut?
If you have successfully completed six
speeches from the Competent
Communicationmanual, you are eligible
to compete in the Mack Daddy of all
Toastmaster contests: International
Speech. The winner is crowned World
Champion of Public Speaking and while
thats nice while that is morethan nice
youll be a winner just by competing.
Our Club Contest is March 2 and the
Area 73 Contest, hosted again by Marion
United, takes place March 13. Please let
Maureen Quinlan, VP Education and
area governor, know if you plan to be a
part of the competition. The division
contest will be held in April and eight
finalists will vie for the district title at the
spring conference in Orlando in May. So
are you ready to get out of a rut and into
a groove? Now is the perfect time!
Another exciting opportunity is the
annual Table Topics competition. Youll
find a terrific article in the February issue
of Toastmaster, Turning the table on
Table Topics, which outlines success
strategies for the tongue-tied talker.
Spring Fling is just around thecorner. This is our semi-annual Open
House/Membership Drive and it is an
important way to introduce Toastmastersand our club to friends, family
colleagues anyone who can benefit
from improved communication and
leadership skills. Be sure and bring a
guest on March 9 and encourage them to
join. Continue to invite them as guests to
our meetings. Just think what new
members can bring to our club!
