A Year of Fulfillment!

A lot has happened in 2017 and yet it feels as though we’re still waiting for events to unfold. Though shipping sector started on a dull note, it rebounded during the second-half. In spite of the challenging times and considerable market

slow down, we at Krishnapatnam Port continued our relentless journey to improve infrastructure, service levels and customer focus.

When we look back at several breakthrough initiatives that were taken at the port - whether it is installing Automated Fertilizer Handling System or deepening of Container Terminal draft, launch of transshipment operations – all of them gave us immense satisfaction not only in terms of serving the customer better but in contributing to the national economy through saving of logistics costs.

Thanks to the vision of our Chairman, aggressive strategies of Managing Director and dedicated work force, we could pass through these adverse times and focus on serving new hinterlands and global markets. Once a great philosopher said, “ The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them ”. We at Krishnapatnam Port practice this in letter and spirit.

Last year we have seen two remarkable regulatory changes that would, in coming years, positively impact the logistics sector. While GST would act as a key enabler in streamlining the transportation, infrastructure status to logistics would

lower funding cost and increase competition. Another significant trend is technology has begun to revolutionize the way we do business, and will continue to do so throughout next year. Your port was the first one to adopt technology and move on to paperless transactions.

We hope that growth in our industry can be speeded up with faster implementation of infrastructure projects such as Sagarmala, inland waterways, coastal shipping, industrial corridors and coastal employment zones.

All in all 2017 has been quite a year and 2018 is set to be no less eventful. Regulation, geopolitics and innovation have played their part in shaping 2017 but more than that they have laid foundation for a very interesting 12 months to come. As we begin the New Year’s journey let’s hope for a great year ahead where economy looks up, cargo is aplenty and infrastructure woes become lesser and lesser!

On behalf of Krishnapatnam Port we wish all our customers, service providers and business partners a very happening New Year!

Best wishes,

ANIL YENDLURIDirector & CEO

MAA KPCL is an innovative employee engagement event to re-energize employees and help them to bond together with their colleagues and the organization.

HR team regularly organises MAA KPCL with an objective to ensure team spirit among employees. Interesting health talks, team building games, talent show, fun and creative acts keep employees happy and energized. These act as useful breaks for employees who otherwise are busy with their work.

From past three months events were successfully organised for many departments – Fire & Safety, EHS, HR, Admin, Marine, Seaport Cargo, Equinox and East Coast Logistics.

Overview of the Event:

Each event begins with a brief introduction on the purpose of the get-together. Then the participants are made into groups. Various team building and management games are organised followed by talent show like dancing, singing or monoact performance by employees. One guest of honour is invited and requested to deliver motivational speech. At the end winners of talent show are awarded with prizes followed by delicious lunch.

Primary Health care

Navaneeta Grama Sanjeevani is a unique community outreach programme through which Port attends to the primary health needs of people living in villages around the port. Under this initiative, twice a month all the target villages are covered.

So far a total 7000 people were covered through the Navaneetha Grama Sanjeevani with patients being given free medicines and were referred to hospitals in cases of need.

Eye Camp

Eye care and general health medical camps were conducted for employees and women at Port.

We all know that eyes and eyesight are really God-gifted. Taking proactive and conscious efforts to take care of our eyes will surely benefit in the long run. A regular eye test is the best way to protect our eyesight and an easy precaution to detect many sight-threatening diseases which can be cured or slowed down if detected at an early stage.

In association with Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital a free eye check up camp was organized. A group of eye specialists and refractionists from Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital conducted a comprehensive computerized eye examination and counselled the participants on eye care. From Krishnapatnam Container Terminal (KPCT) over 144 employees underwent this check up.

Medical Camp for women

Health of homemaker and women is equally important but often neglected. Hence, Port HR department has conducted a free medical camp for women. Simhapuri Hospitals extended their support for this camp. In addition to eyes, women underwent checks for gynaec issues, blood pressure and blood sugar.

Support towards Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of buliding a Better India, Dr Harsh Varshanji, Union Minisiter for Environment lays the foundation of port public school.

Students of Navaneeta Public School (NPS) being run by Krishnapatnam Port met Honourable President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind recently in Delhi. Ninety-two

students, who are studying 7th and 8th standards along with school teachers met the Honourable President.

NPS STUDENTS MEET HONOURABLE PRESIDENT OF INDIA

The President appreciated efforts of the CVR Foundation which has been providing quality education to the poor under CSR activity. He wished the students from downtrodden communities to come up in life with the support of the Port school.

He also urged corporate institutions to provide free education to the poor as part of CSR activity for making the community self-reliant with education and enlightenment. The President interacted with the students and allowed them to visit all parts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The school teachers and management members explained the President that they were arranging tours for the students for understanding various life styles and traditions across the country and as part of that they had previously arranged trips to Hyderabad, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and other places.

They also explained that students would be given opportunity to visit the entire subcontinent for complete understanding before completion of their schooling. Port Managing Director Chinta Sasidhar, NPS Principal Sujata Varma, and school staff met the President along with the children.

Cricket match began with Maersk’s team Captain Prashanth winning the toss and choosing to bat first.

This was a bold decision under overcast conditions. Both the openers Anoop (38/ 46) and Sathish (28 /34 ) made a solid but cautious start and posted 49 runs partnership for the first wicket. KPCT had to wait till 9th over for the first wicket. Dinesh (15/12) tried to accelerate the score and was the only other batsman who reached double digit. After his departure Maersk lost wickets at regular intervals and none of the batsmen supported Anoop, who kept one end till 18th over. Maersk made a decent total of 114/9 at the end of the innings, thanks to economic bowling of Vishwas and Damodar who did not allow batsmen to hit big shots. Rajkumar exercised tight fielding which resulted in three runouts.

KPCT lost it’s Captain early when Vivek (1/8) pushed an in-swinger from Biju into the stumps. For the second wicket Ajish (not out 44/50) and Santosh (9/20) posted 29 runs. After that Rajkumar (9/9),

who hit a towering 6, and Vishwas (10/7) tried to keep up with the ever increasing asking rate. Though it appeared that KPCT would reach the target score, Maersk managed to take wickets in quick succession.

The friendly match reached an exciting finish when KPCT were 99/9 after 18th over and needed 16 runs in 2 overs with the last pair on the crease. Manoj hit a 4 on long on and kept the hope alive, KPCT made 7 runs in 19th over. Last over 9 to win with one wicket in hand, what else you can ask for in a thriller! First ball of last over, Anoop threw a good length, Manoj nudged and tried to give strike to Ajish, ball went straight into the hands of Prashanth which he quickly passed on to Anoop, who made no mistake to dislodge bails. Run out and match was over!

Maersk won this match by 8 runs.

At the award ceremony Ms Vinita Venkatesh thanked all players for their sportive participation and making the event memorable.

On a refreshing evening at RKM grounds in Chennai Krishnapatnam Container Terminal (KPCT) and Maersk India came together for a 20-20 cricket match, which encouraged friendly relations and bonding among these two business partners while testing physical prowess.

They were game for it!

KPCT Team: Vivek Nair, Vishwas Mehresh, Santosh Ponnudurai, Ajish Soman, Krishna Kumar, Ravi Teja, K. Damodar, Manokamana, GV Ramana, Raj Kuamr, Tejaswini Sabbineni

Maersk Team: Prashanth, Anoop Kumar, Satish, Ganesh, Dinesh, Bijju Ravi, Karthikeyan, Shoban Kumar, ramcharan, Samuel Sunder, Prem Kumar.

The heros of the match were Anoop (Maersk)- Man of the Match, Sam (Maersk)- Best Bowler, Ajish (KPCT)- Best Batsman, Vishwas (KPCT)- Best All Rounder, Rajkumar (KPCT)- Best Fielder.

Krishnapatnam Port is India’s largest and fastest growing port with state-of-the-art cargo handling facilities in bulk, project and container cargoes. Port has introduced several innovative practices in transportation and logistics to bring in the much desired cost and time-efficiency, which many of the Indian ports lack.

Both these institutions of excellence have now come together to shape up the future generation of professionals by providing education and field experience matching global standards.

The Centre for Supply Chain Education and Research of Manipal University and the Nellore-based Krishnapatnam Port have signed a MoU to develop and deliver focused education programmes. The other areas of focus will be to identify and encourage joint research initiatives, organize conferences through well-researched papers and case studies, and develop and deliver joint development programmes for faculty and management professionals.

The port will benefit from the academic base of Manipal University for consultancy and turnkey projects. Manipal University will design customized programmes for careers in port management, containerization, warehouse management and supply chain management.

Manipal University conducts gratuate and undergratuate courses in logistics. These students can benefit by undertaking practical training at Krishnapatnam Port and best performed students get a chance to be placed. Similarly the several skill development programmes being organised at port will get the support of university. THE YEAR THAT WAS2017 was an eventful year for Krishnapatnam Port. As we step into 2018 we take a look at note-worthy

developments and important milestones

YOUR DREAM CAR IS

JUST OCEAN AWAY!

1. Carrier consolidation Most would say we reached the peak of carrier consolidation in 2017. However, consolidations will continue. A few carriers are rumored to be heavy targets of consolidation. When analyzing their capacity and order books, it’s no secret that we will see some activity on this during the latter part of 2018. There are also several carriers that are still not within the broader alliance. They will need to evaluate their service strings and loading factors. It would not be surprising to see some of them to start slot charter agreements and work together, which is needed in the current market.

2. Carrier alliances It is very likely the alliances we know today (2M+HMM, The Alliance, Ocean Alliance) will change. With carrier consolidation likely to happen in 2018, one of the carriers could make a move on a carrier in another alliance and change the entire alliance landscape.

3. Over capacity We are scheduled to see significant

capacity addition in 2018 from the likes of COSCO, Evergreen, CMA-CGM, and OOCL. While these deliveries will be larger class vessels that will likely operate in Asia to Europe trade, we have seen cascading before.

4. Technology Technology has been evolving naturally through the years, but now it will accelerate from start-ups in this industry. There is a lot to think about and consider, with companies offering platforms, visibility, advance manufacturing, automation, e-commerce, crypto-currencies, and digital marketplaces. In the wake of Maersk’s cyber security attack in 2017, data integrity will definitely be something the industry needs to keep at the top of mind.

5. Transformative year for port development

Shifting economic trends, trade flows and global demographic patterns, in tandem with changes in port ownership and ongoing investment in modernisation and

expansion are all creating the conditions for what could be a defining year for the global ports industry.

6. Ramifications of Belt and Road China’s Belt and Road Initiative which has already had a large effect on the shipping industry, particularly on East-West trade routes, has seen around $150bn a year in investment, covering roads, railways, pipelines and more. By 2020, the combined entity of COSCO and China Shipping is set to become the biggest container terminal operator by capacity. This will see them climb from fourth and eighth in the global rankings; a dramatic rebalancing of the operation of global trade.

7. Small is beautiful If small port operators can secure funding, they have the potential to compete effectively with newer operations funded by large global players. The most successful operations will be those with a strategy for the long-term and one that is built to reflect wider economic trends.

8. Good year for exports The year 2018 is expected to be a good year for exports on back of global trade boom. The good news is that as the IMF has outlined, that the global trade has grown at a faster pace than the overall world output growth, as the US, Eurozone, Japan and China are witnessing a resurgence in economic activity. All these markets are very important destinations for the Indian export basket, including the engineering goods , which are among the largest contributors to the country’s export consignments.

With effect from October 2017, through an order, Director General of Foreign Trade has permitted Krishnapatnam Port to import new vehicles from abroad.

Many of us always think of that one special car, the one we dreamed about owning as a kid, or the one that made our jaws drop even as an adult.

We imagine that one day we would be able to import that car and drive off into the sunset. Like a lot of people, you might have grown up playing Grand Turismo driving the Nissan Skyline GT-R and other amazing cars that were not available in India. But now, importing your dream car is no longer a nightmare. The good news is that you can have just about any car shipped from Japan or USA or Europe right to your house. Thanks to Krishnapatnam Port, a lot of such beautiful dream cars which were hitherto out of reach can be imported from any country. Leading up to the tournament Chinta Sasidhar, Managing Director of Krishnapatnam Port and cricketing legend and former captain of the Indian cricket team Kapil Dev caught up with each other to share thoughts on golf, Golden Eagles and the gateway port.

Kapil Dev: I was very fascinated by Krishnpatnam Port. How did you get into this business? Normally very few people think of making a

port. How you thought of this business?

Sasidhar: Navayuga Group is into construction, especially into maritime constructions. About 40% of the berths in most of the ports in India, were built by our company as a contractor. We got an opportunity when state government announced projects in BOST model (Build, Operate, Share, Transfer ) we had a friend who already took Krishnapatnam port project. Since he was from pharmaceutical background, he was looking for a partner and that’s where we came in. We took over this port and started

the business. Since we know about building ports we took the opportunity. All that we had to learn was how to operate it.

Kapil Dev: Was it difficult?

Sasidhar: Not difficult. Initially we took help of some experts, later learned things quickly and then slowly built on. I went around the world, saw many ports in countries like China, Germany and Singapore. Interacted with people, saw their equipments and understood how good they are. When it comes to standards a huge gap exists between them and us. There I found an opportunity. We just

need to adopt good, and latest technology. That’s it. We are one step above. That understanding gave us confidence to move ahead.

Kapil Dev: And the new initiative - Ocean to Door? What is that exactly? That looks very fascinating. How did you start that?

Sasidhar: I drew inspiration from you. Something to do for this country. How you brought glory to the country when you had the opportunity. I also wanted to do something for the country. In our terminal business ships come and we load or unload cargo. Boxes are delivered to either CFS or to customer. We have the capacity to handle more cargo but when we wanted to handle more cargo, I found that the cargo was not coming. Then I have decided that why can’t we handle door to door services. Similar to Uber or how the dots have been connected. How in aviation sector the digital transformation is happening. So, I thought why can’t we bring this to maritime business. Hence this concept of ocean to door came up - where handling cargo through digital platforms, like how on airline we book cargo or travel.

We have used technology. So now when I go to customer with O2D (Ocean to door) business card and say that I am a forwarder they started talking to me. I could get more cargo also.

Kapil Dev: As a sportsperson another very important question is how did you get into sports? What thought process went into when you chose to promote golf? You could have promted any sport - but why golf?

Sasidhar: Sports give lot of pleasure. You are a great example of that. In maritime industry I have seen golf domination as a sport. Most of the chairmen and managing

we became good friends and started doing business. I found this sport connects well with maritime sector and started golf. Of course, I can’t play as good as you.

Sasidhar: Sir, I also want to ask you one question. What do you think of business and sports? Which one is difficult?

directors of big companies are golfers. Once I had to meet MD of a big liner and requested him to visit my port. I couldn’t get 15 minutes of his time. How can I explain about my port in 15 minutes? When I offered him to play golf, we ended up spending four hours together and finally could explain myself and about the port much better. We spoke so much later that

Kapil Dev: I have been playing from very young age, it was little easy to me. I started business only after I stopped playing cricket. Till the age of 35 which is prime time, you don’t know what is business. After retiring I had two options either you go back to cricket and become a commentator or do sports administration.

I always thought can I do something different? Can I see how different businesses are happening? Going back to cricket means meeting the same people. So at the back of mind I was hoping to meet new people. When I meet people like you I can talk to you and understand how you operate the business? I like to be more knowledgeable about businesses.

Sasidhar: You have taken up golf and playing well. What would be the future of this game?

Kapil Dev: What I understand from the cricketing example, from test match it moved on to 50 overs and then 20-20 happened. In India it is very difficult to carry on playing 18-hole golf every day. It takes minimum four-and-half hours and with refreshment breaks it can stretch upto six hours. In business world no one can spend six hours on daily basis. So I personally feel a nine hole play is more convenient. It’s important to engage yourself. Most of the business people like you spend 90% of their time at the desk. As a sportsman I would like to see people to come out and play even nine- hole as you can easily take out 2.5 hours of your time rather than 6 hours. So I personally feel in future we will have more of 9 hole play rather than 18 hole golf.

Sasidhar: That’s brilliant thinking sir. To add one, making nine-hole courses would be easier rather than 18 hole courses as acquring 180-200

acres of land is difficult in cities.

Kapil Dev: And further you might have nine-hole par three course only, where you have 120, 180 or 200 yard par 3 also. We have to engage the young people. I would like to see in my country that young people who are playing on the computer and on television, I request them to come out, and play physically.

Kids can pick up any game - football, hockey, badminton, cricket or kabaddi. When they play their talent will come out. 20 – 30 years back cricket was only played in big towns and metros. Now cricket has gone into smaller towns. That’s how we got so much talented players like Dhoni, Zahir Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj - these young people came from small towns and they are much more ruthless. And look at where our cricket has reached now. Amazing! That’s why we must take sports to every village, every district and every small town.

Sasidhar: Sir, I will do my best to contribute to this.

Kapil Dev: I would like to thank all sports lovers like you.

Sasidhar: I should learn some tips from you on how to play golf.

Kapil Dev: Ok. Now, lets go to the golf course and play a round of golf, may be even nine hole. I might give 1-2 tips. You give me

tips on how to do business.

Sasidhar: It will be my privilege if I can give some tips on business.

Both move to the golf course where India’s legendary pace bowler Kapil Dev taught Sasidhar Chinta the right way to swing the club. And in turn Sasidhar, Managing Director of KPCL delivers on his promise to give a master class on how to run a business to the legend Kapil Dev.

Kapil Dev: I understand the family business part. But what is the one thing that you want to bring in to your business?

Sasidhar: I want to become a great leader in business. During my MBA I was inspired by people like Jack Welch and wanted to bring that kind of entrepreneurship to India by utilising infrastructure properly. To give you an example it is a norm that per berth cargo handling is 3 million per annum in India. At Krishnapatnam Port we took this to 9 million per berth. So it is not that we don’t have infrastructure. It is how we use it.

Kapil Dev: I personally feel that people like you should continue to build best infrastructure in this country or in the world.

Sasidhar: True sir. One is having infrastructure and another is

using it. Our concept of ocean to door is built on this – utilising the infrastructure to the maximum. Before Uber, taxis were charging for both ways. Infrastructure was there but it was not getting return passenger. Now things have turned different. Similarly in port sector also infrastructure has to be used well. Ocean to Door will do that.

Shipping line and truck operators are unable to see where the cargo can be sourced to optimise their transport. We can help these businesses by matching cargoes.

Kapil Dev: Thank you very much. It was great catching up with you and playing golf. Also learning about your business. Now I will teach you more tricks in golf.

Sasidhar: Especially I want to try the driver shot which you said.

Kapil Dev: Lets enjoy the game.

Connectivity is one of the critical enablers for ports and the end-to-end

effectiveness of the logistics system drives competitiveness for the maritime industry as well. With infusion of new technology and capacity building, the cumulative/ total capacity available at ports can match demand but will not be able to handle additional traffic if the evacuation to and from the port is restricted. It is, therefore, important that connectivity of ports with the hinterland is augmented not only to ensure smooth flow of traffic at the present level but also to meet the requirements of projected increase in traffic.SagarmalaUnder Sagarmala Programme, endeavour is to provide enhanced connectivity between the ports and the domestic production/consumption centres. More than 150 connectivity projects at an estimated investment of more than Rs. 2 lakh crore have been identified by the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. So far the story is that Indian ports are either situated in crowded cities or too remote to be connected. Narrow roads hinder growthShips spend a fifth of their time at ports on an average, and their own efficiency gets impacted by

port productivity. Although ports cannot exist or function in isolation, approach to a port from the hinterland can be critical enough to spell doom or drive the success of the port because it determines turnaround and evacuation time-vital to the functioning of a port. Narrow approach roads to ports, for instance, delay the entry and feeding of export cargo and the evacuation of import cargo. In the larger context, inefficiencies amounting from poor connectivity hinder the growth of external trade and economic progress.Connectivity defines how rapidly cargo can be evacuated from the port and hence, has an impact on the ports throughputPort is PioneerKrishnapatnam Port is a pioneer in realizing the need for efficient and faster evacuation of cargo and has planned for better connectivity. With 24 kilometres of 4-lane congestion free road connecting the port with National Highway already in place, Krishnapatnam Port is now set to have seven major roads for cargo movement. These roads include up gradation of lanes in existing roads and also laying of new roads. Once all these projects are completed, cargo flow between port and production/consumption centres will become a smooth operation.

Amid the changing regional and global political tides, the India-Vietnam partnership is of strategic

importance in the Asia-Pacific Region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s last year’s visit to Vietnam was very timely considering the fact that his government has laid significant importance on strengthening links with Southeast Asian countries through his “Act East Policy.”

Krishnapatnam Port has a high potential for turning into a yachting hub on the east coast for sailors and those getting trained to take part in national and international events. Absence of high currents and pollution makes port ideal destination for sailing. Hosting of two major sailing events began a new era in sailing sports history of Andhra Pradesh.

SailPatnamHaving an open sea at a close

distance for racing was one of the best attributes of the port. The event

will be remembered for many years to come.

– Anil Yendluri Director & CEO,

Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited

Last few weeks of December 2017 has seen intense action on southern coast of Bay Of Bengal Sea and the coastline was dotted

with neat little sails. The breezy winds at Krishnapatnam Port created a perfect setting for the participants to show their talent and stamina to compete with one another.

The senior and youth sailing championships and the International Regatta for youth hosted for the first time by Krishnapatnam Port has witnessed top-quality action. The yacht sailing contest, perceived until now as a rich

man’s sport against the elements has now become an inclusive one that will give people from all backgrounds a chance to rig a boat, catch a breeze and set sail.

There are job opportunities in army and navy for sportsmen specialized in sailing. Taking a cue from this Krishnapatnam Port came forward to extend support to sailing clubs in schools and colleges in Nellore District. Traditionally these kinds of sailing events were happening in sea at Mumbai and Chennai and in lakes at Bhopal and Hyderabad. However sailors face many problems at these venues

because of lack of infrastructure, huge tidal difference and absence of high winds.

Receiving technical guidance from Tamil Nadu Sailing Association (TNSA), port hit the ground running within two months of accepting the proposal. After inspecting the facilities TNSA deputed 16 coaches to train those interested to participate including young students of Navneetha

Public School.

This largest sailing competition in the country was organized

by the Navayuga Sailing Academy, Tamil Nadu

Sailing Association (TNSA) and

Yachting Association

of Andhra Pradesh

Necessary safety and security arrangements were made for the event for conducting the competitions smoothly and several special

rescue boats were made available along with expert swimmers all through the event.

– Capt Pradeep Gaur Secretary

AP Yachting Association

(YAAP) under the aegis of the Yachting Association of India (YAI) and the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF). Krishnapatnam Port CEO Anil Yendluri, District Sports Development Officer Ramanaiah and District Olympic Association Secretary Ramamoorthy flagged off the event.

For the first time, the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Krishnapatnam Port, has provided the sailors with challenging conditions equal to any international sailing venue. The competition was intense and exciting, as all the participating countries like India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Sweden, UAE, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA, Canada and Ireland have fielded their top sailors who have produced excellent performances in key international events.

The national event has seen highest number of participants ever with as many as 300 sailors in the age group of 8 to 30 from different parts of India. The senior and youth Nationals were held from December 22 to 25 while the International Regatta happened between December 27 and 31.

International race officer Mr. Ilker Byandir from Turkey is the Principal Race Officer for the event assisted by TNSA member and RYA race officer Mylai Prabhakar, while International Judge Mr. Chris Watts from the UK is the chair of the jury, which comprised of distinguished International Judges from India, Korea and Singapore.

On the final day of the India International Regatta, the race committee was welcomed with challenging conditions as the wind from north by east went gusting 18-20 knots coupled with huge swells in

the sea. The day, that started off early, saw two races for all the classes

with the optimist green fleet sailing just one within the port,

owing to the challenging conditions.

Successful completion of the competition confirms the opinion that the port can turn into a permanent venue for holding the national and

international sailing competitions and put

Nellore district on the yachting map of India.

Electronic sealing of containers introduced by CBEC could put an end to tampering of seals and make exporters more responsible

With the global increase in volumes

of maritime trade and logistics, there has been a major increase in instances of tampering of existing mechanical seals. This gives rise to challenges like smuggling of banned material including drugs, theft of container cargo, and illegal transport of stowaways. Many times the tampering of container seals is non-evident to the naked eye and manual examination of each and every container can be time consuming and causes congestion inside Ports, thus resulting in delays. Physical inspection is also dangerous in case of containers containing hazardous materials.

A way forward by the Central Board of Excise and Customs in this direction is the implementation of electronic sealing for containers by exporters under self-sealing procedure. Electronic seals replace the traditional mechanical bolt seals. All the exporters who were availing sealing at their factory premises

under the system of supervised factory stuffing, will be automatically entitled for self-sealing procedure. All exporter AEOs will also be eligible for self-sealing.

Under the new procedure, the exporter will be obligated to declare the physical

• All GST registered exporters are eligible for availing the self sealing procedure.

• A onetime permission is required to be obtained from the Commissioner of Customs, CPC, Vijayawada.

• This permission is permanent and can be used for exports through all Ports of India.

• The application is required to be filed before Export Facilitation Officer working at different locations of entire Andhra Pradesh.

• The officer will verify the suitability of the premises from where the exporter intends to stuff the export cargo and self seal the container and has to submit his verification report within 48 hours from the receipt of the application from the exporter.

• After receipt of the verification report, the Commissioner, Vijayawada will grant the said self sealing permission.

• If there is an attempt to open a sealed

container the e-Seal will be tampered permanently.

• Each e-Seal has an unique ID which is linked to the vendor web application and corresponding to a e-Seal exporter needs to fill shipment details such as e-Seal number, shipping bill number, container code, port code with shipping bill, transporter data, among others on the web application which later transmitted to the Customs application.

serial number of the e-seal at the time of filing the online integrated shipping bill or in the case of manual shipping bill before the container is dispatched for the designated port/ICD/LCS. Exporters shall directly procure RFID seals from vendors, conforming to the standard specifications. They shall provide details such as import export code (IEC) etc., at the time of purchase for identification as well as for using the standard Web application necessary to support an RFlD self-sealing ecosystem.

PROCESS

Attache e-Seal to a container

Unique seal number, Shipping Bill details, container details, truck
