CHILDREN'S CHOIR DIRECTOR AND WORSHIP LEADER

Trinity United Methodist Church, Salisbury, MD, is seeking a candidate (part-time) to join our ministry team who will be responsible for co-ordinating, instructing and directing a children's choir, as well as assisting with the children's Sun-day morning worship, Vacation Bible School, and Christmas/Easter music programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

--Education: BA in Child Development, Christian Education, Music or Children's Ministry

--Work Experience: Proven experience with mu-sic programs in the congregational setting and a general knowledge of music instruction

--A maturing disciple of Jesus Christ

--Knowledge about the physical, emotional, intel-lectual and spiritual development of children

--Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written); strong relational and organizational skills; and demonstrated supervisory experience

--Ability to be receptive, warm and compassion-ate with members and staff; able to maintain confidentiality as necessary

--Salary: $4-5,000

--Hours: 10-20 per week (very part time)

Voice of the Heart Clergy Spiritual Retreat is a course in spiritual development and prayer for clergy. Clergy are dedicated to tending to the spiritual lives of others, and with this re-treat they are invited to come away to a quiet place and spend some quality time in prayer, personal growth, and renewal. This two session retreat program begins April 30th -May 2nd and costs $419 per session ($838 for both sessions)-rates include program fees and pri-vate accommodations for 2 nights/6 meals at the Riverview Retreat Center. Second session is October 1st-3rd; clergy must attend both sessions.

About the Facilitator - OUR OWN REV. BENITA - ASBURY UMC (Salisbury)

Rev. Dr. Benita Harris is an ordained elder in United Methodist Church and has a special place in her heart for people, ministry, retreat ministry, spiritual development and local and global missions. These passions were formed, affirmed and supported by her family. Her parent’s growth in the faith was a powerful witness in her formative years and her sister’s sacrificial giving and dedication to the faith was a model in her adult years. Faith and family are both precious to her. One of her favorite quotes is from C.S. Lewis.

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.

Benita has Masters in Nursing from Salisbury University, a PhD in Human Development from The University of Maryland, an M.Div. From Palmer and a Masters in Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction from Richmont Graduate University.
