Freshman student of the year is Chase Lancaster. His parents are Michelle and Charlie Lancaster of Leba-non. He was nominated by Amiee Miller, his world cul-ture geography teacher.
Junior student of the year is Charles Shofner. His parents are Christie Shofner of Leba-non and Mitchell Shofner. He was nominated by David Hibbard, his AP U.S. History teacher.
Sophomore student of the year is Hunter Wimsatt. He is the son of Melissa Fogle of Loretto. He was nominated by Patrick Campbell, his Al-gebra I teacher.
Senior student of the year is Alex Luckett. His parents are Vickie and Joe Luckett of Lebanon. He was nominated by Daniel Mattingly, his ag communications teacher.

The Glasscock Elementary Academic Team represented our county at the Governor’s Cup Regional Competition on March 17. The Future Problem Solving Team, consisting of Mariella Curtis, Sarah Clark, Christine Cox, Fernanda Reyes, and Alivea Peake, took first place. The Quick Recall Team including those listed about as well as Trevor Mudd, Hallie Hamilton, Gabe Nelson, Eli Nelson, Brianna Mattingly, and Sarah Followell placed fourth. The team was awarded the Katherine Hume Sportsmanship Award. Hallie Hamilton won an individual award by placing third in Written Composition. The team placed fourth overall out of 16 schools. Coaches were Kelly Rawlings, Kim Hamilton, and Karen O’Daniel.

Two St. Charles Middle School students recently participated in the Duke Talent Search ACT Program. Sophie Clark was recognized for state recognition and Matthew Courtwright was recognized for state recognition and grand recognition. Students who scored at the 95th percentile or above on the recent state tests were eligible for the Duke Talent Search ACT Program. Courtwright and Clark are pictured with SCMS Guidance Counselor Danny McFall.

Advanced Placement (AP) testing will begin on Monday, May 7 and continue through Friday, May 18. Three tests will be administered after school has been dismissed for the year. Students need to report to the testing site approximately 15 minutes before the starting time.
The testing schedule is as follows:

You should bring the fol-lowing items to the exam:
• Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for all multiple-choice answer sheets.
• Black or dark-blue ball-point pens for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response
questions in most exams.• A watch (in case your
exam room does not have a clock that you can see easily).
• Up to two calculators with the necessary capabili-ties if you are taking an AP Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics Exam. (Visit www.col legeboard .com/apstudents to learn more about the calculator policy for each of these exams, and for a list of authorized calculators.)
• A ruler or straightedge if you’re taking an AP Physics Exam.
• A sweater or jacketYou should not bring the
following to the exam:• CELL PHONES, PDAs,
MP3 players, e-mail/messag-ing devices, and any other electronic or communication device
• Books, compasses, correc-tion fluid, dictionaries, high-lighters, or notes.
• Rulers and straightedges. (except as noted above)
• Scratch paper (notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets).
• Watches that beep or have an alarm.
• Computers* or calculators (except as noted above)
• Clothing with subject-related information.
• Portable listening or recording devices (even with headphones) or photographic equipment.
Students may not be dis-missed until an exam has offi-cially ended. If you play a sport or have a job, it will be your responsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP obligation, and arrangements should be made accordingly.
