The Future Problem Solving Team, consisting of Mariella Curtis, Sarah Clark, Christine Cox, Fernanda Reyes, and Alivea Peake, took first place. The Quick Recall Team including those listed about as well as Trevor Mudd, Hallie Hamilton, Gabe Nelson, Eli Nelson, Brianna Mattingly, and Sarah Followell placed fourth. The team was awarded the Katherine Hume Sportsmanship Award. Hallie Hamilton won an individual award by placing third in Written Composition. The team placed fourth overall out of 16 schools. Coaches were Kelly Rawlings, Kim Hamilton, and Karen O’Daniel. Sophie Clark was recognized for state recognition and Matthew Courtwright was recognized for state recognition and grand recognition. Students who scored at the 95th percentile or above on the recent state tests were eligible for the Duke Talent Search ACT Program. Courtwright and Clark are pictured with SCMS Guidance Counselor Danny McFall. SCMS students participated in Duke Talent Search ACT Program Advanced Placement (AP) testing will begin on Monday, May 7 and continue through Friday, May 18. Three tests will be administered after school has been dismissed for the year. Students need to report to the testing site approximately 15 minutes before the starting time.
